Love SPAM as well as all the other tinned mystery meats. My favorite those is canned corned beef done as corned beef hash, but then I also like fried bologna for breakfast. No accounting for taste.

Fried SPAM, hash brown and fried eggs makes a good breakfast

I love spam and fried bologna. When I was a kid bologna came in a 10lb stick. You would order from the store keeper… a pound, 2 pounds, what every you needed and slice it thin at home. In fact, stick bologna can still be purchased…

As far as spam goes… I like the single serve foil packets…

The other night for dinner I did something unusual…

I took a single serve foil packet of spam and diced it into 1/4 inch pieces…

I was having a big garden salad for dinner, even fried up fresh bacon for bits, fresh tomato and the good cheese/garlic croutons from the store.

I tossed the spam bits in the deep fryer… 2 minutes later I had Spam fried with a golden crust. That went on the salad also with shredded cheese. Yummy!

I wonder if you could freeze it, maybe after you slice it up? I could see having it sliced up with waxed paper or parchment paper in between slices and kept in gallon zip bags in the freezer. Get out what you want or need. What would be the shelf life in a refrigerator?

I like bologna sandwiches. When you fry bologna just make a single cut from the center to the edge and it won't curl up.
My Dad hated bologna because when the family moved from Oklahoma to Washington in the 40s all they could afford to eat was bologna sandwiches and he hated them.
Some race tracks are famous for their fried bologna burgers. One driver ate 16 of them on one race day.

i won't give spam in the fridge over a week.matter of fact.it'd be lucky to make it to 5 days.for certain reason of my own. and no i won't go go into details. . :D
At one point in time I went to a headache clinic, due to the debilitating migraines. I went through an evaluation process. I was given a list of foods to avoid that are migraine triggers. One of the things that I learned is that the main cause of migraines is mold. Food that is 5 days old is growing mold, even if you cannot see it. It is recommended for migraine sufferers to avoid food that is that old, and the recommendation is 3 days old at the most. Food that is laden with chemicals may have a longer shelf life because of the preservatives. When we buy meat that has preservatives, such as bacon, ham and other preserved meats, the preservatives do extend the shelf life. I do eat bacon and ham, and am careful about how long it has been in the fridge, especially after it is cooked. Ham is the one I watch, but bacon in a package, at least in my experience needs to be cooked very soon after the package is opened, or the uncooked bacon will grow mold. There is a bacon that comes in a 3 pound package that I like because it is thick sliced, so I always have bacon in the package after I first cook it that goes back in the fridge. I have to be careful or it will get moldy before I cook and eat it.

I think that is what I should do when I open a package of bacon, fry it all up at once. My challenge is that I may eat it all up in one day.

My migraine triggers were STRESS, dry red wines, sharp or smoked cheeses, and the combination of nicotine and caffeine in excess. Once I got my diet in control the migraines came within days of the full or new moon. That was not fair!
I was so glad when I stopped having migraines because I could finally sit down and enjoy a glass of Merlot and some sharp cheese.

In my younger years I would have starved before I ate Spam. Now however I really like it. Fried crisp for breakfast is my favorite but I also eat it uncooked on a sandwich.
In Hawaii they put Spam in a lot of dishes. During WW2 it was about the only available protein source on the islands and it became very popular.
I also like potted meat and vienna sausages. I don't think about what they are actually made from.

As a kid we ate Spam, potted meat, sardines sometimes. Don't eat a lot of meat today nut do have fried bologna now and then.

Love fried bologna!!
It's weird to fry.
The middle of the circular slice likes to bump up when it's cooking.
Just smash it down with a spatula.

My dad use to fry it for breakfast on weekends.

You make a slice in it from the middle to the edge and that stops it humping up.
Here it's called devon roll or Strasburg.

Love Spam, tinned corned beef and tinned ham.
Dads family went through the famine in Europe during and after WW2.
You didn't get to be fussy in our household.

We didn't either. Both parents grew up in the great depression. Fussing or refusing to eat something would have gotten us removed from the table and sent to bed. After I left home, the amount of people who were and are so fussy about food was really surprising to me. I guess that many have never had a choice. I know people who fuss about the most minute things about food. My youngest cousin on one side was born on the day JFK was shot. She will still not eat the crust on bread.

It's Spam for Dinner:

I have sliced up a devon/strasberg log and froze it.
It didn't affect the flavor or texture. Mind you i just throw frozen slices straight into the
Air fryer.
It's not something I eat raw.

I can picture it in my mind... Sam Elliot speaking the words... "Spam... it's whats for dinner" :D:D:D

To be honest I've searched Hawaiian cooking websites... they love their Spam! Let me restate that... THEY LOVE THEIR SPAM!

Some of the fruits they use in spam recipes sound really tasty.

Here I can get a beef and pork mix bologna from a packing plant that I hauled hogs to as a teenager... They sell it thick slice... 1/4 inch... yummy.

I believe there are restaurants in Hawaii that only serve SPAM, in all kinds of ways. I worked with a woman who grew up in Hawaii. She and her wife were reported to make SPAM fried rice.

I have been thinking of SPAM, and thinking of trying it in place of ham in bean soup. SPAM has been noted to be an ideal prepper food and so are beans, so why not put the two together? It is worth doing an experiment now. I have to do a price comparison now for canned hams versus SPAM.

I had Spam and eggs for breakfast yesterday.
I used to hate it but now I really do like it.
I even eat it uncooked.
Here's a little insight as to why Hawaiians like Spam.
https://www.thehawaiiplan.com/why-do-hawaiians-love-spam/

1. SPAM and Hawaii share a long history together.

After World War II, there was a large military presence in Hawaii. The government needed to feed a lot of soldiers everyday, but it was extremely difficult to get fresh meat out to Hawaii. So, the soldiers ended up being fed a lot of SPAM, which is cheap and non-perishable (SPAM is canned and has a shelf-life of approximately a bajillion years). So much SPAM was shipped to Hawaii that many cans ended up being sold in stores to locals.

What made it so popular though?
At the time, Hawaii had a huge population of Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino migrant workers, all of whom had various methods of incorporating SPAM meat into their own cultural dishes. The resulting SPAM dishes were so good that the popularity of SPAM exploded in Hawaii.
