Sounds like a recipe I would like...

Trina Schmidt

Pear Pie Filling

6 quarts sliced pears (approximately)
5 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup Clear Jel®
1 T Cinnamon
10 cups cold water
3/4 cup bottled lemon juice

Mix the sugar, Clear Jel® and cinnamon in large stock pot with a whisk. Then add cold water. Stir well. Cook on medium high heat until begins to thicken. (continue stirring well!)

Once it is thick and transparent add the lemon juice. Boil for one more minute. Then gently turn the pears into the hot filling and return to a boil. Then ladle the pear pie filling into the prepared jars and process in water bath for 25 minutes for pints and 30 for quarts

Yum! I do love pears!

I have 1 pear tree that is producing. I normally can up in a light syrup but may give this recipe a try to see how it is. It may be another way to preserve them. Goats killed my Apple trees eating the bark off, hurricane got another and then I replanted. . . . Hunny backed over it in the golf cart. . . Last year I was making "Apple pies" out of cucumbers.

I have a dwarf pear tree that is struggling. I have cut off blighted branches a few times. Hail has damaged most of the pears this year. We get around 30 pears a year from it. We usually make a few pies with the pears.

I have 2 pear trees, but one of them is dying. No idea what happened to it it bloomed and had small fruit on it. Looked at it a couple weeks later and have the limbs had died. The other tree is doing well and has a lot of fruit on it, so may actually have a decent harvest this year.

Last year we pruned our fig and pear trees. Figs not ripening and pear tree bloomed 3 times and then froze. In this record breaking May heat probably didn]t help either. No figs in 3 years now pears never did that good too far south.
