Yeah, one of the stocks I picked up is NEVER on sale.
I had to wait for 'momentary insanity' to infect the market to grab it.
I now know how a lady feels when she goes into the store to look at the beautiful, expensive, outfit that she has been drooling on for a year, and sees that 25% Off tag hanging on it:woo hoo::lil guy:
Sorry I don't have a cool picture of it to post:(.
It will supply steady, dependable income for me from now on.

@Terri9630 way to go! Now just the oven right? Might see if it's the element.

The oven works, it just won't turn off. Its propane and has a glow plug thing that stays on until I flip the breaker. Even then it has to be off until the oven is completely cool or the plug will come back on when I turn the power back on.

This sounds backwards, but I saved money by spending it today. I had to go to another town for a dr. appt. It's across state line so there is no sales tax and it has lower prices in general just due to the area. I stocked up big time. We probably have enough cheese to get us to the end of the year :). Got hubby 2 pairs of work pants he likes - I have never seen them on sale and they are cheapest there. Got bunny and dog food, 5 flats of eggs (will pickle some,) also bought frozen peas to can. I like some frozen but also like some ready to "heat n eat". Anyhow, we are stocked up.

Even work pants, us guys can't get a break!

And yes, you saved money by not buying stuff it in your state which is greedy with taxes.:great:

Oh man, pickled eggs!!!

Today I did a massive shop and stocked up on meat and garden supplies so I can pay off my debt and get through
the next bill cycle.

I got a lot of meat today and I got a large lamb roast that is for Christmas lunch.
Corned beef, beef roast, steak, mince, chicken legs, and devon roll and fish fingers.

4 50ltr bags of potting mix and 4 25 ltr bags of poultry manure.
More conduit and reo rods to make more low tunnels and more zucchini seedlings.
These are the last seedlings I'm buying because even the budget seedlings are far too expensive now that they have put up the price.
No more Bunnings trips for me for the rest of the year.

@Supervisor42 easy peasy- when you finish a jar of pickles, save the juice (pickle) and add hard boiled eggs. Leave them for about a month. Hubby likes it when I mix pickle and peperoncinni juice together for the eggs. We have a few jars of juice so will be able to do quite a few. I prefer mine scrambled:)

@hiwall I would look at any appliances/cars/machinery that you need to buy as they are usually the things that leap in price with inflation. Other than that look at what food storage you have and top that up and or any prepping items needed.

I know that when our dollar went up and ours was $1.10 to $1.00 USD we bought all of our machinery ( ride on mower, chainsaws etc) and then afterwards they went up by about $3000 in price when our dollar tumbled. We always look for a good currency exchange rate and then buy what is needed.

@Supervisor42 good move waiting on a lull in the stock market.

@LadyLocust great move on buying items you needed in a tax free state. Our clothing prices have plummeted here so we are taking advantage of particularly men's clothing if we can find them on a good sale. Sadly I have to say that men's clothing does not come on special nearly as often as women's clothing.

@Tank-Girl go girl cheering you on on getting that bill paid and planning ahead.

Always look on the bright side of life :) .
I do.
My MIL turned 85 today:lil guy:.
Of course, she ran and jumped on the riding-lawnmower before I could finish eating supper

So she's mowing and I am walking around with the phone with 91 already punched in and my thumb hovering over the '1' button

@Supervisor42 your MIL sounds like my then 75 year old mother who was painting an old Queenslander on a scaffold plank 25' off the ground and stepped back to see if she got it all. Fortunately I was at the window at the time and got her by the arm and pulled her through the hopper window on the second storey and as she was a depression era child she for love or money would not let go of the tin of paint she had in her hand.

@MoBookworm1957 $7 for lunch and dinner is pretty thrifty!

I went to the thrift shop and got a pair of shorts, 2 capris, 1 jeans, and a pair of shorts for hubby for $20. I have two pairs of work jeans and one is getting rather ratty so now I have another pair to start breaking in for when the one pair dies. Also, I only have 2 pairs of shorts that are both on their last legs. This fall will probably just throw them away rather than store them through winter.

Day 6 of not spending any money today.

We may or may not spend money tomorrow as I have already bought the fuel voucher previously that we are using tomorrow, we are taking back a curtain tomorrow that we purchased previously as I had enough fabric, and with the refund we will purchase 2 o'rings for the wood splitter and buy some fruit and rolls. I will see if we spend any more than the refund amount.

I went online to my credit card company and redeemed points to get $80 off my next bill. The down side was my bill was WAY over the $80:)
Finally caught the Exxon-Mobil stock I had been stalking. Very dependable company. Not on sale very often. Last time was January.
In mid-July it was selling for $77. I caught it 5 minutes before the market closed today at $69.63 .
Because of the lower price it will pay me a nice 5% dividend from now on.
Saved a little over $1,000 :).

I just saved $120 on a new office chair for our home office

The one we have now we've had for years and it was given to us by someone who had in their office for who knows how long. Bits are falling off so I bit the bullet and bought a new one. heck with it.

Day 8 that the truck hasn't been driven. Before retirement truck's gas tank was filled twice a month. After retirement about once every 5 weeks, maybe 6 weeks this month.
Dam, you sound like me!
Wait, lemme check........yep, still 3/4 of a tank after a month:D.

:p

Retirement is horrible. My advise to y'all is just to keep on working...and paying into Social Security, thank you.
Absolutely! Tortuous day for me. Woke up at 8:30, did 1/2 mile walk, made coffee, drank coffee, curled up with the cat on the bed to watch TV and we got a good 2 hour nap.
Drove 1.5 miles to the store for a few things and then it was beer-time
Toast.gif

Time to hang out online until 11pm:D.
And I'll go to sleep tonight knowing I will face the same grueling routine tomorrow:(gaah.
It's a tough job, but someone has to do it:rolleyes:.
Save yourself while you still can!.....keep on working and keep paying into Social Security!
