This morning I took out a very large package of blade steak out of the freezer that I have been saving to make raw packed canned beef stew.

I need a few bags of frozen mixed veggies from the supermarket but I'll get them this morning.

I also plan on canning chicken and sweet corn soup. I have a few spent hens that needed culling and soup is the best
use of them.

@MoBookworm1957 that's a lot of salsa!
@Tank-Girl it's kinda getting to the time of year when soups are starting to sound good again. You might have to remind me I said that come February:)
I did another half dozen jars of diced stewed tomatoes this evening. I love seeing those jewel tones lining up on the shelf. I need to find some corn just to top it off for the year, but pantry is looking good.

I eat a lot of it.
But sometimes oldest son's daughter(grand daughter) and his lady's kids just need a quick wholesome snack from this Granny's house.
I also make the corn tortilla and flour tortilla chips up later.
Put together Movie night basket for them all.
Don't do it very often but once in a awhile is okay.
Besides sometimes I use the salsa in other dishes.

we got 14 jars of rotel tomatoes from last batch. have the large roasting pan going again with rotel tomatoes. also have peas, celery and taters to do tomorrow. got all prep work done today.

This morning I did 7 more jars of diced screwed tomatoes and 10 small jars of sauce. Have another big bowl of paste tomatoes picked. Also bought 18 ears of corn, we ate two and will can the rest. Only need to top off the corn so that should be good.

After years of not wanting to can my wife bought a new pressure canner today.
I'm going to wait till I get the Bell canning books I ordered then we'll be canning tomatoes Tuesday. .
We shucked, cut off the cob and froze 3 dozen ears of fresh corn. We might buy more tomorrow.
There is a local produce farm that has the best corn ever and right now it's 8 for a dollar so it's a good time to get it.
I am excited to start canning. My Mom and Grandma's canned a lot and I always liked they way it tasted.
My wife made a couple dozen pints of Raspberry Freezer Jam last week. When we can get Strawberries on sale she will make more jam.
My wife is getting to enjoy doing things like this as long as I am willing to help, which I am more than willing to do.
Any helpful tips will me appreciated.

That is something I would love to can.
Care to share your receipt?

8 more pints of diced stewed tomatoes as well as got all the paste tomatoes juiced. Ran out of time so will boil it down tomorrow.
@backlash Do you mind me asking where you got your corn? Home canned corn is soooo much better than store bought (like most everything.). The sweeter the corn, the darker it cans up so isn't as pretty as corn that isn't as sweet. It is awesome that you are working on it together! I don't typically can stew, but chili and taco soup are both staples around here.
PS - love stew but I do it multiple ways using a terra cotta roaster.

There is a place locally in Granger called Jones Farms Inc . They have the best corn I have ever eaten. It is super sweet and tender.
Last week they had it 8 for a dollar, limited to 80 ears, so it was time to get some in the freezer.
Not sure how much it is now.
Also watermelons were $2 each any size or type. I bought 2 sugar babies. I love watermelon. With prices like they have it doesn't really make since to grow some things.
You can check them out at this link. They also have a Facebook page my wife subscribes to.

When we were there last week a couple were buying $1000 worth of peaches for their Christian School fund raiser.

when i took step-dad to the food bank, i knew a couple of the workers there. thet told me they actually have to throw some of the food away. they said they call a lot of people to come and get it,but still have a lot. i signed up for it . i hate seeing food go to waste.there is a few people here close by struggleing. . some of that food would help them out.

Our internet quit working last night so I couldn't finish posting. Buuuut, Sunday I did another full canner of green beans, ate some for dinner and gave a meals worth to someone else.
Yesterday I did 13 jars of tomato sauce and have a huge bowl of tomatoes yet to do.
