Lots of hard work with little production. Someone, maybe Caribou suggested that growing potatoes in tough times would be a much better crop to grow.
Me, too! I thought those ladders were really cool.And I LOVE those ladders! They look much more stable than the flimsy ones we use today. It certainly does not look like it will roll anywhere, not with their flat backs, plus the sheer weight of it apparently anchors it in place.
There are other ways of simple threshing. I tried ordering some of these foot powered threshing machines a few years ago. The sales person couldn't figure out why someone in America would need such a thing.

Someone I know was talking about a restaurant that serves eggplant fries. I am not a fan of eggplant, but I guess there is more to eggplant than eggplant parmesan. There are many things that can be ground into flour or powder. I think you have to use what you can.If I was to make flour down here it would have to be with eggplantsthey are only thing that grows like a weed. I dried some maybe see if they will grind up?
