Blackstrap Molasses, the photo is from a little mom&pop produce market I stop at. I remember Blackstap from when I was a kid, we grew our own sugar cane for a few years. A man would come by with a press for the cane at harvest.

I remember it all being cooked in big cast iron pots in the yard. First cook evaporates off some of the water and leaves you with cane syrup. Second cook results in Molasses.

A third cook results in Blackstrap Molasses. It was really bitter, I didn’t like it when I was little.

I did some web research on it the last couple of days. Blackstrap has 25% less sugar than molasses and starts to reveal bitter tannins and carbon build up… Nut cases in NYC now think it’s a super food. I found a post by a southern foodie person… advice… never cook with it.

Anyone else ever make blackstrap molasses or use it?

It is high in iron, isn't it? I don't think it's "bad". Highly recommended for many years by Dr. Christopher as one of the ingredients in a health elixir.
My friend who just had heart surgery last month takes a spoonful every day of just molasses, I think. It was recommended to her by her chiropractor whom she sees a few days each week. He also recommended that she take a spoonful of apple cider vinegar.

Many Years ago I Studied Dr. Christopher's Herbal Healing Courses. His Book, which I no longer have, was very Detailed and in depth, as was Jethro Koss's Book "Back To Eden". Many of those Books from the Course I no longer have, they were some how lost in a Cross Country Move...But anyway I seem to Remember the Tonic Patch is Talking about, but that's been a lot of Years and my Memory Fails me.

I have Back to Eden. I will go look for it and see if I can find this recipe. I haven't given this book a serious look in decades.

Jethro Kloss, hard one to follow. While he said vinegar wasn't good to use, Dr. Christopher said it was good.
I have both of their books but can't find Dr. C's. I've even been looking around on the website but it is a particular thing on part of the incurables program.
My husband used the "elixir of life" for a few years. He felt it helped although I can't say for certain with what.

Dr. Kloss was absolutely convinced that Herbs were the only thing that worked. To Hear him Talk he only lost one Patient, and that one Died with a Smile on his Face. He was more closely Akin to a Root Doctor, and used a lot of "Old Fashioned" Remedies, some of which were quite effective. I really Enjoyed Studying him, but Dr. Christopher's Book" School of Natural Healing" was my go to.

I have pulled out my copy of Back to Eden, and am not finding anything about Blackstrap Molasses. There sure is a lot of other information that is invaluable though. I am getting ready to go to an appointment, but I will do some more research later today.
