Hmmm this could be a problem........ (no not our “new” tractor). Our old Allis Chalmers we brought home when our uncle passed a few years ago. Been sitting in the barn till we could get too it. We drag it out for the holidays to decorate then back into the barn it went.
This is the first issue we found right off. Should be a fun rebuild as uncle didn’t maintain anything and there’s a lot of duct tape and bailing wire holding things together (literally)

Yes. They got everything right now. I've been in San Francisco and haven't got to test it yet.

@Double R lets see a pic of that entire Allis Chalmers. We had one when I was a little kid. It's what I learned to drive on when I was 5 or 6. There is a pic of me somewhere... I was pulling a hay wagon with it. Dad had bolted blocks of wood to the clutch and brakes so I could reach the pedals. :D

I will look for one! I don’t think I have one on my phone.
I would love to see that pic if you ever run across it! Sounds like a really good time!

Here are my two. International 444 4cly gas tractor, early 1970s tractor and pretty rare from what I'm told that 90% of them were diesels. I bought this from a local guy then had to wait a month for him to get done with his hay......lol he did put a new battery in it and fixed a few things before I went and picked it up. It had 4900 hours on it when the gauge broke so I have no idea how many hours it really has? I built the front bumper to add weight to the nose and it's full of lead shot. Been a great tractor until the governor came apart and I've had it redone twice but no one can get it set right, tractor throttle will go from idle to wide open since governor was redone and nothing in between...........I still use it to mow since I run it wide open most of the time. would trade it off but I cant till the other is paid off completely.

The new Holland TC30 is a 2005 model and I bought it with 700 hours on it, was one owner and barn kept and its been a great little tractor. Had to replace all the backhoe hoses but that's about it. I have one cly leaking done on the backhoe so I may have to rebuild or replace it at some point. Loader has saved me so much time and it's surprising just how much you can do with such a small tractor. Best part is I bought it for 1/2 what a new one cost:D I have a lot of equipment except a tiller so that is next on the list, at some point I would like to trade them off and get something with 50-65 HP range but that is a ways down the road.

I just got a Bison 295 ( 25 hp front wheel assist) tractor. I never thought about getting something this small , especially with a loader on it, but the price was right and I wanted some thing better for pulling my firewood forwarder trailer (see my post here if interested in trailer http://forum.homestead.org/threads/off-road-and-utility-vehicles.150/ ) the quad pulled it fine on decent ground, but with a good load on it was a bit much traction wise, the old polaris has plenty of power but traction is an issue as well as strain on the drive chains. that and the little chinese diesel will probably only burn an 1/8 th of the fuel as the souped up 2 stroke. If the snow evermelts I will get my old Deeres and Michigan loader here.

I have a Farmall H that I had governor trouble with. Not sure if the carb is simiar on a 444 or not but mine ran wide open all the time. Here there's a square pin at the end of the governor linkage where it bolts to the carb. It's inside the linkage housing so you'll need to unbolt the linkage from the carb to see it. On my H it's 2 flat head (screwdriver) bolts. Anyhow, that pin (roughly 1/8" square and an inch long) goes into a square slot in a plate inside the carb. If yours is the same you'll see how it should be when you get it apart. It's tough to fish it into place but I'll be willing to bet that may be your trouble. If it is it's not actually using the governor at all.

Dutchs, I love that hydraulic top link. I've not seen that done before.
It comes in very handy especially with a Box Blade. It can really help with adjusting mowing with the bush hog and turning dirt with the harrow disc. It was only about 200 bucks so I went with it and am glad I have it. Very simple to install as long as you have auxiliary hydraulics to use. They actually make a hydraulic side link that makes things even easier to keep adjusted where you don't have to screw the link in and out by hand but the shop didn't have one that would actually fit my tractor. I'll have one though if they find one that will. I just thought it was really cool and has turned out to be a good spend......

That is pretty. 3K seems low but I really don't know.

Most small "one row" restored tractors go anywhere from $2500 to $4K. Farmall Cub's are common. This model John Deere was only manufactured from '53-'55. It's sort of rare. He started asking $3850. But a deal on big 75horse tractor he needs for hay season came up. He's looking to sell this one for what he has in it. Really tempting!!! ;)

I was down at my nephew's this afternoon. He had finished restoring this little gem. Only wanted $3K for it... tempting...

Dang I had a 1959 0r 1960 JD40 I loved that tractor and man that thing could pull. I paid $400.00 on the conditions I could get it running, put a carb kit in it and it busted right off and the guy told me "Well I hate to let it go but I made you a deal so it's yours" I used it for 11 years and motor seized up and I sold it to a guy for $1000.00 lol
