We spent the weekend up at the mountain house getting it all spruced up ready to sell and getting the remainder of our "stuff" out of the shop. Can't believe how empty it looks and how much we keep hauling off 😂 It is good in that everything is getting a going through and plenty going in the garbage. There will be more to go through when we unpack it on this end - isn't that always the case? Hubby's not an organizer so sometimes interesting. I have "stuff" too, but usually it's has some order to it. Big prayers it sells for a big price in a small time 😊 But of course that's what we all hope for. I slept like a rock last night! I will go into work this morning, but will head back up to take care of a few things and get more "stuff".
One of the things I want to get is my Shirley peonies. My dear friend who passed 6 years ago now gave them to me probably almost 20 years ago and they are always beautiful - just as she was. I will keep them as long as they grow. 🌹

Just a heads up Zanne, at least in our area (& across the nation from what I'm told) anything to do with construction is 6 months out. We are slammed right now and are currently scheduling for beginning of autumn. As far as quotes, we give them as we have opportunity and only if it's a job we're interested in doing. Just giving you the heads up on it from this end. Hope you get better results with your next option.
(My opinion, it's so lucrative not to work right now, anyone willing to work seems to have more than they can do.)

That’s the truth! I’m currently 2 years out and have talked to a guy that claims to be 7 years out. Construction materials have gone completely through the roof in price some being nearly impossible to get.

Found out this morning that my daughter's maternal great grandfather passed on during the early hours this morning at age 101. To my knowledge, he was the last surviving WWII veteran in my area. Like many others of that era he had a remarkable life. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor in December 1941 but his destroyer happened to be out of the harbor when the attack happened. Not long after he went to work in the aircraft industry and worked on the planes that served late in the war and during the early part of the cold war. God bless him.

Gonna venture out and soak up some sunshine. Supposed to be pushing 70* here today..............woot woot.

Probably take Momma for a ride, open the sunroof on the Jeep and get some wind in me whiskers. lol

LadyL this is true but building materials are thriugh the roof. Especially lumber. Ans lots of rich buyers are coming in from China. SIL is building multi million dollar homes, can't build them fast enough in Atlanta area.

Gotta get the Zero turn out and ready for mowing.

Grandson coming over after school to do some work around the farm for me.

He makes a few bucks and saves my old body.

Probably Subway for late lunch.

Wife is still trying to find strawberry plants , TSC none.

Y'all better be safe today.

Jim

Cutting grass here already too. Too much work around here though. I get tired just looking at it all.

I took my lunch outside and ate on the porch, the bulbs I planted for the wife last fall have started to bloom. Wanted to take her out to see them, but she just wanted a picture, didn't feel up to going outside...

Fixed a place for some containers on one of the raised beds, will put out a few plants this afternoon. ;)

I actually did this yesterday, I helped my grandparents with yard work. Beautiful weather right now. They moved to a new neighborhood and are using rocks dug up during construction for added landscaping. They were very pleased with our progress. They are like my parents 😊

Amazing model train set by the way, Ben!

I just read yesterday on Duck go that my uncle John Passed a year ago at 96 he was also WW11 vet. Now all mamas sibblings are gone.he was a lawyer but decided he would rather stop crime than protect it so he became a cop in 1936,all the way to Chief of Police for a few years ,but lost to revers racism by Atlantas black mayor.
His obit was full of mistakes. What a shame. They did say he got The Service Award for something he did ,don't know what that is.

K was telling me the other day that not only are materials next to impossible to get but banks aren't giving loans to the commercial construction companies so they can build.

I have a feeling this is just the beginning and Agenda 21 is part of why prices are so high and materials are hard to get. "You have to cut down trees to make lumber!!!"

Well its a small town, no traffic light, hole in the wall grocery store, she will have to pack a lunch to go to the store. But its looks ok.I also didn't see a gas station. One big chruch and a couple little shops in town. I see a nervous breakdown coming from these city slickers.I told her the 16 y.o. kid will be gone first night, lol.Just kidding ,she is really into prepping and getting away from the city. She wants a garden,chickens,etc..
Her hubby ha plenty of space if menapause gets t=bad, she has major hot flashes past couple years.

Catching up.

Survived the girls and only had to seperate them once. The eldest got a little impatient while dying eggs while I supervised the process. She wanted to follow the instructions heself saying "I'm friggin 12!". Any time I had to remind her to do something right I aded "after all you are friggin 12". She will not live that down until she is "friggin 13".

After their departure I thinned out some garlic that didn't get harvested last year. I was surprised that there were 55 in the end. Then I sat back and enjoyed more Atlas Shrugged audio book.

For you Ayn Rand fans.

Thanks for mentioning the A Rand via YouTube - the book is on my yet to read list. I never thought of YTing it!
Also, beginning to come together and look like something isn't it - Nice!

Thanks for the heads up! One of the reasons I didn't want to hire a contractor to fix some stuff on my house is bc I know they are booked up (plus there are no licensed residential ones left alive in my area).

Yesterday I took Mom to the foot doctor to get her nails trimmed & feet checked out. I need to put moisturizer on her feet more often. She had cracking skin near her toes. She has hammertoes so she can't straighten them out and that makes creases on the foot near her toes.

Went to Samsclub & on the way in I saw an altercation that almost turned deadly. Black lady was driving slowly through pedestrian crossing area in front of the store. White lady was heading toward the store with a flatbed cart full of flooring. She was approaching rapidly toward the side of the black lady's car. Black lady, whose car was already ahead, tried to swerve to get out of the way of the white lady. White lady was apparently pissed off that there was a car in her way so she rammed her cart into the car. Black lady got out & started calling her stupid & asking why she rammed her car as her kids jumped out to see if there was damage. White lady (who was on the opposite side of the car as the driver) pulled out a gun and started waving it around at the black lady & her kids. Other people told the white lady to stow it asap. She put her gun away & started arguing back & forth with the driver. Driver was screaming & swearing at her about ramming her car & having the nerve to pull a gun on her for it. White lady claimed she felt threatened (black lady was leaning on her door and looked like she had mobility issues). I passed them & was at the front of the store, I started to pull out my phone to record but the white lady saw me & stopped arguing. She headed toward the store. So I turned & grabbed a cart and barely got out of the way as the b**** tried to ram me with her cart. I told her to watch out and called her a stupid b**** but she didn't dare pull her gun on me. She suddenly tried to act like the victim & went to the store greeter claiming the black lady had threatened her life and she'd been forced to pull a gun-- which was absolute BS. She was blocking the door & the greeter looked alarmed at the mention of a gun. Told her to go to the returns section (bc she was returning stuff). She started to argue but the greeter very firmly & calmly repeated the instructions so she huffed and pushed her cart over to returns-- nearly mowing down an elderly couple on her way. Oh, she also said that the other lady had run over her cart when she was the one who rammed the car. I hope that they get their security people to show the cops the footage so she can be arrested. She shouldn't have a gun if she is going to pull it out & wave it around like that when there is no real threat. I may be slightly biased since she tried to ram me. It's a good thing she didn't bc I'd be in jail for throat-punching her.

Other than that, trip was uneventful. I loaded up some water, headed home, dropped Mom off, got my brother to help unload water & then he went with me to get feed (I couldn't lift the sacks bc of my rotator cuff having had enough with the water cases).

Can't sleep right now bc it's the anniversary of my dad's death. Hard to believe it's been 12 years now. Feels like it was only 2 years. Been looking at pics of him and crying (helps to get it out of my system). I miss him every day. I constantly wonder what he would think about things, what he would say, wish he could see new tech, wish he could see the kitties (he'd love them), but sometimes I'm relieved he didn't see the pandemic, issues with govt, etc.

Holy crap Zannej, do you happen to live in Florida by any chance? That's the sort of stuff you would see there when we lived there.....

Still drinking tea but need to start taking care of our animals. They are taking their time with the lambs and goat kids this year, still no lambs, and still only 11 kids so far. I need to start transplanting some seedlings I started into bigger pots but the pots haven't arrived in the mail. I only have a few from before ( they were laying around the farm when we bought it and now are either gone or broken, so had to order new ones) . I sold a ton of plants last year before I even planted them in the garden ( people would drive up to our farm and ask for stuff like tomato plants) . We did really well last year during the store shortages and covid craziness

Some people should not have guns. What a nut. Calamity Jane she probably isn't.

Not where we live, here people don't pull guns unless they are going to use it. Yo umust have lived in Jax or Miami?
Of course saying this may be a bad omen.:)
