I am starting on the 4th rotation of my container potatoes this year, the smaller 5 gallon containers worked okay but the potatoes were small, the last rotation I put 5 (half potato's) into each of the 3-17 gallon tubs I had, I used store potatoes that had some eyes sprouting, they all have produced several (2-4) plants, will have to wait to see if they make potatoes..

This weekend will be a big work in the garden weekend as the weather has shifted and my indoor plants are just completely over grown at this point, will also be harvesting the 3rd rotation of potatoes.

Urban ,I'm sure you'll let us know how they worked out.

We set out blueberry plants today, told hubby to harden them off but he says they will be fine, hope so since they already have little berries on them from being inside in sunny window. He doesn't want to lift the heavy pots yet,he said this late afternoon.

Yesterday I went through my sprouts, figured out what seeds hadn't sprouted, and replanted them. They might end up a growing a bit later than the first group, but it's still early enough that I'm hoping they'll all be ready when I want them. Still gets to freezing every couple weeks here so they're not outside yet, but I've been doing some yard work and will have more space for planting soon. Planning to buy seeds for some dye plants and herbs that i won't put in the veggie garden.

I got all the kale seeds in ground. That's another thing I don't really like, but husband does. Our son brought me a pkt of them from Baker Seeds...they're the giant leaf type, so his reasoning is some for dad, alot for the chickens. Planted my mints in an area outside the kitchen window. Started digging a strawberry area, but was distracted with husband mowing all over the place with the new mower. Hope to finish it tomorrow.
Repotted the squash seedlings that are too big for the four pks I seed started in. Have a whole bunch of other seedlings to repot still.

The wife loves beets, she doesn't like the canned Harvard type, she prefers fresh, she washes them and trims the greens, makes a foil pouch with a little water (1/4-1/2 inch), closes up the pouch, and then bakes them till the skins will just slide off with pressure from your thumb. That's it, she will slice them and add them to salads just like that...

Got our corn in and the majority of our tomatoes and a couple cherry tomatoes in last night. Got the rest of the little peppers potted in bigger “pots” and gave them some new fertilizer. Hopefully they get to looking better so we can get them in the ground in the next week or two. Still have a ton more seeds to get in the ground.
Starting to look at green houses for next year. It’s time to get one.

Deep South Homestead on YouTube has a coupon code on their greenhouse videos. 10% from Growers Solutions if I remember right.

I’ll check that out! Thank you!
Your quite welcome. We used it when we bought our second green house. Buy everything you want at once though. You can only use it once and shade cloth is excluded.

We got our melons, assorted squashes, and one of the cucumbers in yesterday evening. Got my strawberry pots moved to the garden. Peppers seem to be perking up after being transplanted into bigger pots but I still think I stunted them by not getting it done soon enough. I’m worried they won’t thrive. Waiting to plant them till I see some good growth. Very disappointed at the moment. Got to busy with work. Didn’t think it would hurt them since they were only about 2 inches tall. Kept the pods watered but......

Peppers can be slow. Once it starts getting hot out I bet they perk up and start growing better for you.
Peppers are painfully slow. Last to sprout, last to grow

Thank you both! It’s our first year starting peppers from seed. That’s good to know. Today it was over 80* and sure enough some of them are perkier and growing already. These peppers have definitely been painfully slow and we’re the last to sprout. Hopefully by the weekend I’ll feel comfortable putting them in the ground.

Ha Ha. They do. But they're on our table almost every night. Husband likes them.
As a kid we always had beets in the garden, my whole family loved them. Last year I tried to grow them. A complete bust along with almost everything else in the garden. It was a wacky year for growing anything except corn and peppers. I had peppers coming out my ears. I dehydrated and vacuum sealed 3 big batches. I gave away peppers vacuum sealed in 1/2 pint jars as Christmas gifts.

So, I bought beets last fall, keep a jar in the fridge. Sometimes a few slices are great on a salad, sometimes a few in a bowl with dinner.

I intended to work on fences today but dad wanted to plow the potatoes. He insisted on using his wobbly push plow.

I was afraid he hurt himself but he took his time. He'd do a single row in 4 sections, sit and rest in between.

I hand dropped triple 13 afterwards, 25lbs. I then dropped another 25lbs of crushed volcanic rock.

Of 4 (86ft) rows of potatoes we got 2 good rows, 1 row with about 60%. The last row only about 30% came up.

I set out 5 jalapeno plants I bought last week.

edit to add... this is the riding mower without a deck his grtgrandson bought and gave to him. There is even a nice little cart someone had built for it.
