Sheesh, @rusty . I'd mow it for ya if I could. I still think that kind of stuff can be exhausting if you're not feeling good anyway.
Struggling thru my "finals" and sometimes it is okay to #not be completely successful if I know I did my best. I stayed with it even if my brain turned to mush. It was worth it to cry over I guess. I cried over spilled math.
Anyone had their cars egged lately? Noticed it on my back windows on my way to work. Turns out that while my car had one or two eggs tossed to it, my smaller car had 5 or 6 that had been tossed to it. Apparently while my third car was out for the night, someone stood in the driveway and did that. Like, RIGHT THERE. Then politely cleaned up most of the egg shell. Really? Or did animals eat it? Couldn't take it personally since apparently at least one other car in the 'hood was also egged a few nights before that.

Mowed the yards.
Hand washed the RV including roof.
Tumbled clean the brass from the last competition.
You can hand wash mine - as well as the other rigs. They harvested the wheat all around us, and everything is covered with chaff.

Hope the upcoming week is a little kinder to ya. :huggs:

I don't have a clear idea of what the day will be. Some gardening will be involved, some movies might be watched, food will definitely be eate--ahem, devoured -- I might unplug and not answer calls or texts today.

It's a public holiday, so I don't know... I'll just see what happens

Regular farm chores today and we'll be going into the bigger town to get paint for the exterior of our add on so we can match the house. That'll be a few day project to get it painted. I figured I could get the kids help before school starts if we get it going. The garden needs daily attention, almost time to start the fall seeds, and we'll have some butchering to do with the meat chickens in a couple of weeks. They both do outside work, so I get them while I can.

As The Princess said last night "looks like it is wiring week for you'.

Installed a GFCI outlet behind the kitchen counter and add junction box in the basement. Then got blood pressure med refilled and restocked my supply of chocolate covered donuts.

Just relaxing now and enjoying the A/C.

Ben

Went to Lowes in the bigger town for paint for our add on. Bought 12 gallons, two different brands. Why? Because there's a paint shortage due to the Tx freeze. So no five gallons. They had 7 gallons of one brand, and 5 of the another brand, but mixed the color to match the outside of our existing house, so ok. Funny, though, there was a paint shortage a year ago due to the tinting in the paint came from China and the Chinese had covid. We always ask why, but I don't believe any of it. Usually people blame shortages on lack of truckers. Spent time in the garden, little granddaughter has a 6 ft long, 3 1/2 ft deep pool set up and neighbor boy (Levi) and her are in it. Hoping to start some painting tomorrow morning

@phideaux
Hey Jim, you moved yet? When's the move? Need help movin? How's the move goin'? 😁 😇

Oh no, We just got the mortgage payoff to the farm house.
We are meeting with our lawyer tomorrow , no real estate agent involved, we are going to pay off the mortgage and then do a simple contract to pay the owner balance over next 2 years.
Once we get deed into our name , then we got to build a garage, also , kitchen and bathroom stuff to do before we will move in.

We got 3 people interested in our place, but we're gonna need lots of time to leave here. So we're not in a hurry to sell.

Everything moves slow.
Took over a week just to get his payoff letter.

Plus we been dealing with the local floods.

Jim

Just move everything when you move. We only moved what we needed planning on going back and getting the rest since we were not selling the other house. Someone broke in and cleaned it out. And tore up the other house that I spent 26 years working on.

Today was nice, woke up and hour early at the hotel, about 6am. I'd planned to get a breakfast pita wrap from a new place I found recently (actually a pita bakery in the back).

Instead, I went to "Bogue's Diner", same family has owned it since 1938. Above average diner food and a great place for breakfast. Their biscuits and gravy are even better...

I still got to my VA eye appntnt 45-min early. The VA is tricky in Birmingham. I have to park in the VA parking deck 20blocks from the VA. Shuttles run about every 15-min.

I was already on the shuttle back to the parking deck before my appntnt time. On my way out of the city 10-minutes after that. Very quick for the VA. Before leaving I did stop and pick out frames for some progressive readers they are going to make for me.

Uneventful drive home but stopped for groceries. Got home around noon, fell asleep in my chair, woke in time for dinner.

That's terrible, Rusty.
Our move was crazy, and glad it's our last. The buyers wanted a short close. Too short. The kids and I loaded 6 big pods and off they went. Everything was closed when we moved, so no donating stuff, no garage sale. I gave away tons. We left with a pickup truck (2 other vehicles and a motorcycle were picked up and moved), we towed a small uhaul. Had two dogs in cages in the back of the truck, three kids and a parrot and us in the truck. 11 hour drive. Heat wave. Kept having to ice down the dogs. Covid. So masks and hand sanitizer, and husband wasn't feeling well. The only great thing is that we had owned our farm for 6 years already so beds and what we needed right away were already there. I still have about 50 boxes that I haven't gone through. It was a year last week.

We had owned our own home(s) since 1989. Have been renting for the past 5 years. I hope I'll be able to get into my own place eventually. How many times have you seen me complaining about cleaning out the garage? lol
@Peanut glad your time in the city was quick and painless.
@phideaux hope everything goes smoothly for you and Mrs. phideaux. (it will).
@Amish Heart you are amazing. I don't know what I'm going to do or where I'm going to go. I don't want to stay in hot Texas but I don't want to be far from these little precious grandchildren. Would rather be where I know people.

Just sitting here looking at the collection of short stories I wrote a couple of years ago. I wrote twelve of them, had them published on Kindle and then pulled them after a few months. Almost seems like someone else wrote them. I have not been able to get interested enough to write any more. The people who read them liked them, but who knows.

Yesterday, I got half the lawn mowed, over 100F and I mowed till it was after dark, came in the house and it looked like I took a shower with my clothes on....

This week I hope to get a little done around the garden, can some tomato sauce, and start assembling some new toys (if the parts all arrive).

Woke up at 0637, for no good reason. I've got nothing to be awake for. So I ate breakfast and I'll try to go back to sleep for a bit. My daughter is coming over at 1000 and I have an appointment at the Toyota dealer to get steps put on the truck at 1430. Daughter says the truck is hard to get into. (She's only 5'1")...

It took us 2 years to move out of the mountain house. Still going through things: 20 years in the same place then downsized by about 40%. I get it, it takes a little time. I figure at least for the next move, most things will be better organized. Trying to think of that now rather than not and wait until we are ready to move and a big "Oh, no!"

Thunder and lightening all around us - just what we don't need is lightening fires. Big prayers those clouds shed some rain too.

This morning was weed pulling and lawn mowing. This afternoon I'll be searching AirBnB's and resorts to find some places to stay while visiting Hawaii. Got airplane and car taken care of, just need lodging now.

The rental cars are so expensive there. A friend of mine just got back - $1500 to rent a car for one week. I'm going for three weeks. So I had my daughter buy a car rather than me rent one. I will pay her what my rental fee would have been - about half of what the car cost. She'll kick in the rest of the money and end up with a really nice second car for cheap after I leave. Car rental money - we would have ended up with nothing to show for it after the rental period was over. Tourists have been renting U-Haul trucks instead of rental cars - they're cheaper. How bad have things gotten when people buy cars and leave them there rather than rent them, to save money???

Bailey seems to be controlling her bladder better so she has a reprieve for now. I did give her a dose of Rescue Remedy this morning to see how she does with it. I use it for Winter. She has issues with fireworks so I give her a dose when she hears the neighbors setting them off. She freaks out but as soon as she gets the Bachs she calms down and seems to rest better. The true test will be when we take her and Summer in the car. They panic in the car. Melatonin works well but gets expensive when you have to keep giving it to keep them calm for a long car ride. It also takes 20-30 minutes to kick in.

I tried a new wash routine for our cleaning rags. They are used for everything from cleaning pee to grease and oil. Most trashed rags get tossed in K's rag bucket once cleaned for him to use on the cars or in the garage. The new routine is using the defunk additive I used for cloth diapers and cat pee with a new detergent for athletic wear. They came out very clean for rags we have been using for years (not bright white but very white).

Mostly today I am staying on top of Roo as she works on her state report. She is doing Texas since it is on our short list of states we want to live in. Plus I figure it will give her so great background of what could possibly be her new home state.

Walked first, then fed and walked dogs.
Made a couple of phone calls.
Made a big batch of chili.
Pressure canned--still going-- 7 quarts, froze a large container and have another large container in the fridge.
Made 2 hamburgers to cook later.
Probably Church tonight.

I completed what I could of the outlet for the kitchen area.

20210721_151022.jpg

That would be the right hand wall where the fridge will be located.

The outside wall will have one window over the sink.

20210721_151101.jpg

Currently it has two windows.

20210721_151124.jpg

The changes required will muck with most ot that wall so installing outlets etc now will most likely have to be moved, get i the way or have to be redone. So I have to put a hold on any other electrical work for now.

Tomorrow I will tend to tasks around the backyard nursery all related to cloning and propagating what I have growing there now. A good number of them will be getting transplanted to The Ridge in December so I should try to get clones now.

Behave

Ben

@Grimm how much Rescue Remedy do you give to your cat at one time? It's not specifically for cats or dogs, right? I used it on myself when I was experiencing pain and agony with a dental issue (at least it helped me to be calmer), sister used it on her dog for fireworks.

I use the pet formula. It says 4 drops so that is what my mid sized 35 lb dog and the cat gets.

@Grimm cool, ok. I knew I had seen a pet formula rescue remedy, but haven't seen it in many years, can barely find the stuff for humans. Thanks!

I'm finishing my last couple of assignments with course stuff. Next year month, I'll be doing something new and attending somewhere else and hope I can keep myself going. Online learning was okay sometimes, but it got old.
The good Lord will pull me through it all again. He always does.
@snappy1 what are your favorite beans for adding to your chili? I used to use kidney, nothing but kidney. Switched over to black beans. Now use pinto and sometimes black too, and if the crowd is especially large, all three kinds.

I hate to say it but Amazon has it.

Been feeling like absolute garbage the last two days. Had missed taking my my meds. Got my naproxyn again but it's not helping too much. Stiff neck and shoulder/arm still giving me grief. Woke up soaked with sweat.

Don't even remember what I did yesterday.

Today we were out of my mom's frozen meals & I haven't been up to cooking much. They keep being low on stuff when I go in. So I got some of her Hungry Man meals and heated one as soon as I got home. Friend's gf wanted some company as she was home alone with the baby. She sent me pics of one of the kittens over there-- skin and bones. Said one had already died and that one looked close to death. Orange kitten was missing. So I took the 2 we could find straight to the vet. Got them subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, worming meds, eyes cleaned + eye medicine. They have a very common form of feline herpes that affects the respiratory system and eyes. Older cats usually survive it but it can kill kittens. Super skinny one still might not make it, but other one might. I told my friend they need to stay inside. Need worming meds 2x tomorrow 12hrs apart and then 1 dose Friday morning. They need the eye meds 2x daily until the eye crud clears up. I'll be going over to help. Friend is about to lose his job. He can't physically keep up anymore due to the blood clots that caused his stroke & he can't get treatment for the clots. He's exhausted and depressed.

I paid for the vet visit & bought him some Equate version of Ensure (he has to drink those because he has trouble eating due to his teeth having broken in the wreck). Gonna do what I can to help him through this. He should be on disability with his health issues. He's going to help me out with some stuff. I'm hoping I can help him out with stuff to fix his house up more-- I already got some paint for his front door and we have handles to put on his cabinets. I know it won't make his depression go away but getting more stuff fixed up might make the place feel a little better.

Got another kidney stone in my right kidney again. Just passed the one from the left kidney the other day. Still feeling exhausted.

I've got a bit of pride today. I just found out that my home county where I was born and raised has declared itself a Second Amendment sanctuary. It is the second such county in Iowa to do so. The county supervisors vote was unanimous. I know some of them, and I figured they would be on top of this issue. Now I'm hoping the county where I currently reside will follow suit...
