Well that stinks, Sonya. I hope you don't have lyme. Must be shoulder day, husband has his shoulder appt, too. He tore his.
More house cleaning today, and will get little granddaughter early from school. Then off to the airport to pick up my sis and off to pick up mom and then to Aunt Sylvia's viewing. Mom called me yesterday and does not remember Sylvia at all.
I wonder if your mom will remember her when she goes to the viewing?! Have a safe trip to the airport!!

I can now add potential Lyme disease
I hope it is not Lyme and is something simpler and easier to treat!

Today, I will walk and then walk dogs.
Go make tea at Church for tomorrow's senior club.
Make Black eyed pea/ cornbread casserole for tomorrow's event.
Take friend to local grocery.
Make biscuits.
Prayer meeting or Bible study tonight at 6:30.

I have an appointment at 1pm at the Iowa Diabetes center. My RNP and I decided that it could be helpful to see an endo. Most endos know jack squat about Type 1 diabetes, so I'm not real hopeful I'll get any help. I half expect to be told to exercise and eat keto and then I'll be cured. 🙄 But, you never know, so off we go...

Haven't decided yet... got a lot done yesterday, especially in the weeding department, but my knee is a bit sore. Heaps of stooping and bending with that high desert weeding, lol. I know I pulled weeds for at least three solid hours yesterday, plus I did some other stuff... today the weather is mighty fine, it'd be a good day for a ride, but I'm keeping an eye on Zorlac after his neuter surgery yesterday. He seems okay, but maybe it's best if I stick around and watch over him. If he does alright in the next couple hours, maybe I'll go for a ride ANYWAY, lol. Fine weather here in Alamo...

Edit: Well, I've checked the forecast and we have three sunny days ahead, no showers until Saturday night, so I'm gonna stick around here today and keep an eye on Zorlac. Sure is a beautiful day for riding, still a bit chilly at 1020 hours but warming up nicely. Oh, well, my decision is based upon something called "responsibility"---funny that a cat should instill it on a perfect riding day, lol. But I don't want Zorlac to somehow open his stitches and bleed out while I'm gone, so I'm gonna hang out here and putter around... enjoy the beautiful day on my property, 10-4?

After making this decision, I decided to give myself a "treat"---I'm on an apple kick today, so I heated some apple cobbler and dumped a big ol' scoop of butter pecan ice cream on top, and MAN, was it delicious! Went down fast, that's for sure, lol. I was gonna have a toasted ham & cheese sandwich, but I saw the cobbler and went for it instead... the good news is that I can STILL have the toasted ham & cheese sandwich later, lol. I don't usually have pastry of any kind for breakfast, but then again, I don't usually forgo riding the thumper to watch over a cat, lol... the BLASTED VARMINT!!!

Cleaning and purging

Juju is slowly out growing her clothing so I am washing and sorting the next size up in hand-me-downs. Some of those clothes I know I will end up donating as I never liked them when they were in Roo's closet. Anything I think I can sell I will list on Poshmark or ebay.

Found a box of assorted things that belong in our BOBs so I will be put that stuff in them then back in the closet. I have to pull out our evac totes and check the pet food for expiration dates and plan when I need to replace it.

I think I have enough empty and cleaned coconut oil jars to turn into jar candles so I will be gathering the supplies to do that later this week. I have the wax and wicks but need to find my melting pot. I just had it when we were cleaning the garage. Hopefully K didn't donate it. He likes to get rid of my things without talking to me first.

Desktop issues this morning… Still don’t know what is wrong. After an hour I finally got the system to boot to an old kernel.

When I got the system to boot I backed up all my data. Had already purchased new thumb drives a few weeks ago to do this very thing.

Concurrently I updated my laptop. After the backup completed I copied all my data to the laptop. I now have 2 clean backups of everything and a fully functioning up to date system (Ltop).

I’ll post something specific about the desktop under tech when I have a better feel for what is wrong. Right now I don’t know enough details to accurately describe the problem. Trouble shooting was not my priority, data backup was.

I might be offline a few days until this issue is resolved, off and on. Bye...

I've been house sitting. But Sis is coming back today so I ran by Walmart. I hit the clearance aisle. Check out my $5.50 find! I know, these are kinda flimsy but not bad for that price, and we may get a season or two out of it. And I like that I can roll the top up.

It’s a miracle! I shut down my desktop before working in the garden. When I returned I got my cameras ready. When booting I wanted to photograph the error messages.

There were no errors, it booted normally. So I restarted, it booted normally a second time! Huh?
gaah

I think there is a hardware issue. Yesterday while trying to read an old data cd I got a really odd “I/O buffer read error”. I figured the old cd was bad, corrupt data coming off it. Wasn’t important anyway.

However, this morning when boot up failed I saw the same I/O buffer read error.

Well, everything is backed up and current no matter the real issue. And there is no longer an issue, system is running fine.

If I see that error again for any reason I’ll pull out my backup desktop. I'll load software on it and see how it does for a while.

I found Auraglan pain killing ear drops that also remove bacteria infections and waxy build up.
It's not prescribed for dogs but both phenazone + benzocaine are used in veterinary medicine.
The trouble is if the dog licks it and it goes down their throat.
This has been giving Landshark a lot of comfort and it has removed a lot of the wax and allergic discharge and saves me having to keep shoving Loratadine down her neck at 2 in the morning to get her allergic reactions under control which is bad for her liver.
The drops are very thick and sticky and so they cling and coat the inside of the ear canal.
So far it has worked well.
The trouble is the dog is STILL a poultry poop eating dog and there's no way of getting through that thick head that poop = BAD.
I am still trying to figure out where the feral rebel chickens are getting out of their pen so they don't poop where the dog can eat it.
I am beyond happy I finally got around to silencing the duck-ups.
Less, noise, less food wasted, less mess.
I have them stored in the freezer ready to make David the Good's pumpkin pits.
I'm waiting for a day that I feel stronger to tackle that job.

Nice! I got a small upright one and actually like it so hopefully you find yours as useful. Note: caution - winds.

Well going to the doctor today. I can now add potential Lyme disease to my injured shoulder....found a tick on my back yesterday and it has a large round weird looking area around it. One of my Amish neighbors has Lyme ( she didn't know when she got bit ) and from the symptoms she described it's not fun. I think you have to take an antibiotic right after you get bit to avoid it. So wish me luck.....

It's still freezing out, just started the wood stove

Start taking Ivermectin for Lyme disease.
It's a cure and one they have suppressed for decades.

I hope you get better and share the cure with your friend if it isn't against their teachings.

My truck got a new little brother today...

20221019_172135.jpg

It's a 2013 Toyota Corolla. It's got real low miles for being 9 years old - 117K. Hopefully, it will carry my daughter all the way through college. Corollas are supposed to be the most bulletproof cars ever, and they get good safety rating, good gas mileage, and have low insurance costs. It cost more up front than a Chevy or Ford, but I'm hoping to make that up in lower operating costs over the next 5 years...

Toyota is the most popular brand of car here in Australia because it's so reliable.
Almost every large farm has a Toyota Landcruiser ute.
Chevy is an exotic and costs an absolute fortune to service and only wealthy car buffs buy them.

It's kind of the opposite where I live. People are loyal to Chevy and Ford here and they're the most popular and most available. I drove GM cars all my life. But after having driven a Toyota for a year, I probably won't go back. Toyotas just seem to be made better...

Sadly, yes, if a consumer is looking for reliability & longevity in a vehicle nowadays... but it wasn't ALWAYS that way. There was a time when American automobiles ruled the world, lol... and a Toyota ain't no muscle car, that's for DAMNED SURE! I know, because I drive one! Lol... ;)

I thought in Australia, Chevy cars were called Holden. Is that not a thing any more?

The Toyotas are better made and get better fuel economy than the Fords.
If people are in town with an occasional trip out bush and tow the boat they'll buy a 4x4 Nissan duel cab ute and if they're on the land they'll buy a Toyota Landcrusier.
The other popular brand of "town" 4x4" duel cabs are an Isuzu D Max.
Their price point, reliability and fuel economy is about level with the Nissan.

Spike that car looks good. Being a long time yote owner you should get really good service from it. 117k is maybe 1/3 to 1/4 expected. Nice find
That's what I'm hoping, to get close to 300k out of it. But if it gets 100k more miles without any major problems, I'll be ok with that. The damn used Corollas are about $2500 more this year, for the same age and miles, as compared to last year. It took all of the insurance check plus a little to buy it...

Good Luck!

Yeah I saw one homesteader on YouTube actually set up one to protect her plants last year when she had an early frost. Her husband insisted on anchoring it down. I'll see if I can find that video and see how he did it.

The cure for Lyme disease is simple and effective - it's antibiotics. Many people who get Lyme disease never know it because they end up taking antibiotics for something else and the Lyme gets cleared up in the process...

Got the next few days off so I'm hitting the car shopping thing pretty hard. Used cars that get good gas mileage are going insane for price and are getting worse by the day. I looked at a little Toyota Matrix, 2006, with 130K miles on it yesterday after work. It had some dings on it but they still wanted $8800! I thought that was nuts, but then I looked around on the internet at other cars just like it and found out that they're right on the average for that year and model. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay a little more...
One thing I do when looking for a used car (if you have the cash) is to advertise friday afternoon in your local facebook classified's. Say something like "want to buy best economy car under $XXX for cash) Being the weekend a lot of people can't access their cash and if there are any impulse sellers out there you might save a lot of money. It worked for us.

Depends how bad the infection is , it can take a long time to cure with antibiotics and the side effects of antibiotics is hard to take after the first few months.

Had an excruciatingly painful day at work.

I think I work for Satan. I'm sure I do--I work in the pharmaceutical industrial complex. There's no other explanation for what our staff went through today. It wasn't from customers either (well, maybe just a few) it was from our own lack of "leadership."

Happy Birthday, Backpacker. I've got 5 cats on me and I'm trying to type but they want me to cuddle them instead. already down to 37°F here. It very rarely gets below 40. Meeting with my friend in the morning to get some gas in his car. His bank let his phone company charge his account 3 days early so they overdrafted him again. He needs to change banks.

Cooked for mom, did some cleaning, took meds, got buried under a pile of cats and dogs & played around with graphics. I'm about to get something to eat if I can get the animals off of me.

Sis came in from Florida, we got her from the airport and picked up mom, and went to Aunt Sylvia's viewing. Mom talked and talked to everyone there, but did not acknowledge the viewing at all, but that's ok. We went for a late dinner afterwards, then brought her home. Letting little granddaughter take the day off from school for the memorial service this afternoon. We have that and then the family wants to meet at Olive Garden after the service.

Not much today, be a busy weekend when it warms up a little. Checked the outside thermostat outlets, they came on as expected. Fed and checked the Community cat water and food. Zoom Seminar from CocoRahs this afternoon. When my pistol comes in, I'll get more pine shavings for the coop, Rural King has it all :)
