Yeah, we swore-off Notflix awhile back, but.. Someone 'gifted' my Wife a year of it, so.. Watched it, and, well.. My 'overall comment' would be:

Yah, pretty rediculous on Many levels. Initially, I thought 'Ehh, it's just a wierdly-written / directed (felt more like a 'Play' than any kind of realisticly-written film..) 'Current-society biopic' - kind of like the Very sardonic 'Don't Look Up', not that long back, but..

..Now, the more I think on just How disjointed the whole story was, and how nearly Unfathomably-clueless and Dis-prepared the 'Main Protagonist Fam' was <Huge facepalm> But, really, everyone - Including the "prepper" :rolleyes: - I really wonder if it is, in fact, more like something was posited, elsewhere:

🤔 Hmm, quite possibly so.. They (TPTB) have certainly 'Telegraphed' plenty of 'hiding in plain / Plane sight' things before, so.. Would NOT put it past those Evil NWO-cartel demons.. :mad:

Other than That, yah, I'm with those that say the 'Kevin Bacon character was a 💩-poor 'example of a Prepper', because:

- First: That Anyone - "friends" included - Could just drive up his driveway - and AFTER SHTF (No Gates, and/or even a 'lockdown protocol' shown / demo'd) and Right up to his house - With Unfortified glass-pane windows, and an Easily 'kick-innable' Door.. Just <facepalm> Then - Wood-stacked on the Front Porch.. (perfect Op to snipe whomever came out to stoke the wood-stove = Pow, One shot, 'All is Lost', etc..)

..AND, that he - ultimately - didn't 'stick to his Guns', with his 'My Family First' policy.. Comes out with NO 'vest' on, etc.. (let alone - he came out AT ALL.. even IF he felt 'Yeah, I gotta talk to them' - Should have been from either a Fortified 'sniper-nest', Upstairs or in a 'Roof-parapet' etc - Or - at Least comm via Intercom - while ready - with TWO sniping-positions, from a fortified flank, somewhere. I mean.. I'm a Nobody, and even I can think past That level of stupidly wide-open exposure.. It was.. 'painful to watch' that much stupid.. <facepalm>

- Second: Sure, the 'Bunker Family' had it "more right".... Or Did they? 🤔 I mean, If yer Not Living IN where yer 'bunker' is.. What GOOD was All that Prep??.. They, now, are likely Dead in / near the City, and all they really 'accomplished' was 'Gifting' all of That (reasonably-Excellently Done, caviats well-pointed out, in above posts..) prep for those Clueless few. Again, <facepalm>

So, for these (and Other) reasons, yeah - I'm thinking this Was more likely just 'predictive programming' / 'warning', etc.. Certainly NOT any kind of 'Be Prepared, People!' helpful 'PSA' from the diabolical OKenyas.. 🤬

Overall, I'd give it a 'Rating' of: Hot Garbage. :rolleyes:

dan bongino did a show about this and had some serious thoughts. he was secret service dueing the clinton-obama times and has opinions of the who-what-why of this coming out. says its an in-yer-face warning of whats planned.

and for weeks now ive been hearing interviews, talks, news clips mentioning we face a serious cyber threats and attacks growing more dangerous every day.

I first watched some of this excruciatingly bad movie and was dissapointed... Why can't anyone put together a decent movie about crazy times? Then i caught candien preppers discourse on the movie and looked at it differently. Could someone be spending all that money on a movie with name stars and pack it so full of subliminal and not so subliminal stuff? Check out this from canadien prepper (I know, he always has the world ending and he sells stuff, I consider him entertaining and sometimes he is right)

You could read the book instead. That is, if you're interested in the story. Don't think I'll try to watch the movie. Might read the book some day. If I hear it's a good book. My "to be read" list is already so long I doubt I will get to this one however - unless I hear very good things about it. Up until seeing it mentioned here, I'd never even heard of it.
 
The other things I found annoying about it: focused on the young girl’s obsession with binge watching tv shows on her phone, parents detached. Teen boy’s focus on causing fear and concern to sister as well as what most think a preoccupation with the young adult female. Like @Amish Heart said, he was involved in self-satisfaction, had no interest in doing anything for others. Showed them both as flawed, spoiled “typical” white kids. Showed their dad as a spineless wimpy husband, following lead of his wife. He was stoned which I guess is why he was semi-flirtatious with the young adult female.
I don’t like Julia Roberts, so my opinion of her is no good anyway.
While here we have the young black adult female who was shown as someone with an attitude, racist, and otherwise appearing to be flawless in the way her character was presented. Her father…I found it stupid when he said what he did to Julia as he took her in to listen to music. It was her choice to comply. He too was being shown as someone who was at the mercy of white folk in his own house.
Kevin Bacon caved on his own property with a gun in his hands.
I give it half a star because I liked the deer and the flamingos.

started twice now to try and watch this...couldnt stomach it....seen low budget movies better.
 
I wrote this elsewhere but have been informed that it would be appreciated here.

My expeditiously typed breakdown of the movie... perhaps I'm reading into it but I just deeply dislike/distrust the obamas.

Don't waste your time watching it. Piss poor movie. My wife and I made fun of it the whole time. The deer stalking everyone was hilarious.

It was a democrats wet dream.

The big tell was the white lions oil tanker named after the slave ship. As if we are enslaved to fossil fuels white sre of course linked to whites... I mean the idea that an oil tanker without GPS would just wash up on the beach full speed without anyone on board stopping the engine is hilariously dumb.

Black people were of course discriminated against passive aggressively to their faces as if that's common and unavoidable. As if the whites did it unconsciously without meaning too of course and this js despite the black characters being the rightful owners of the house.

They downplayed an evil cabal in charge of the world, as if I didn't exist and instead said that really nobody was in control- to the extent where humanity is wildly unregulated and nobody holds any kind of sway, power or influence which is subtlety messaged at the viewer that it would be neccessary but is obviously lacking and thus these world ending events occur.

They played it off like the woods behind a nice suburban development was some endless maze.

They acted like nature was this terrifying force when the two women were surrounded by like 50 deer- idk where the flamingos even came from... local zoo trope? @SoJer suggested it may be a nod to the circus lbgtqxyz etc. community.

They said the whole world was against us and that a cyber attack would cause all if these catastrophes as if America has no defense against such things.

They made the one "survivalist" an ******* who of course was xenophobic, selfish, white...

They made the apocalypse occur in literally 3 days as if we dont have more fortitude than to literally kill ourselves if we go 3 days without the internet and cell service...

the made the white father a dumb useless coward of an oaf, the white mother a hateful spiteful woman- both white parents were downright negligent of their children. White kid was a pervert, jerking off to voyeur pictures. They made the mother immoral to the extended where she almost cheated on her husband after listening to rap music and was stopped only stopped by the moral black guy (the only likeable character).

They pretended like the stock market could predict everything.

The shot they took at Elon musk was hilarious, I'm no fan if self driving EVs but the dems obviously wanted to take a shot at the guy that brought some accountability to their Twitter cesspool. That whole scene was laughable- let's play frog with the tesla instead of driving onto the side of the road so we can create false intensity in the scene. Glad mom reacted whole the dolt of a dad thought the car coming at them full speed was friendly.- what's funny is ealier the dad couldnt navigate using GPS or even pull up a map, but somehow the tesla were able to drive themselves all to the same spot and crash into each other of course at the most opportune time instead of all at once or whatever. So dumb...

The whole vibe of the movie is "damn without the government were gonna get our teeth microwaved out of our heads"

I'm not even going to go into the sexual undertones of the whole movie and the weird subplot that it seems to suggest about the characters.

Total fear porn. They want people afraid of each other, they wany us afraid of a big bad we cannot control like a cyber attack.

I think this movie was obamas weird attempt at telling us "remember you need us!"

I see a reoccuring theme to some of the responses to this movie.... Don't watch it, pay no attention to it......Then some of the same people go on to elucidate how much of a propaganda, herding tool the movie is. Seems like some of us need to pay attention to what the other side is doing and pushing out to the american public....
I pick up trash in front of my house since it will attract more, i paint over graffiti in nice places....those are signs of things not being right in my world.... This movie is a sign of things not being right and I need to track them...
 
Point. now if you want a realistic version of this steamy pile, go watch The Divide. I hate this movie simply because there is NOTHING to lighten the mood, it is total despair and depression from the first minute and slowly fills your mind like nerve gas in the trenches and it thickens by the minute, it truly exposes the evil in humanity's heart and forces you to look. it does NOT have a happy ending.

I like this mentality quite a bit, it's why I watched the movie- but also why I gave yall the cliff notes to save you the time and frustration.

I would unwatch that movie if I could. I think I threw it in the trash when I was done watching it. To say it was an utterly depressing moive would be an understatement. Much too dark for me.
 
Oh I agree! What the UN or whoever those goons were did to that kid deserves being skinned alive and scrubbed in acid!

That it comes from the Obama family and probably other far left PTB's, I suspect it's a warning that they are up to something, I've seen enough science fiction movies over my 81 years to know that not all fiction is really fiction, i.e. "Brave New World", "1984", "Solent Green" and others.

There was a time I would have agreed with this- but not anymore. We've heard all publicity negative or positive is beneficial sure, but I believe dumb people outbreed the smart ones and they are gonna see it and talk about it regardless. I figure those of us who can see through the propoganda can either fade into nothing by remaining silent or speak up and at least bring some awareness to how rotten the movie is and the producers are. Either way, it's the #1 most watched movie are the moment and people are going to talk about it.

If you don't like anti-semetism, it's better to speak out against it than to ignore it and remain silent. Though I'll admit I hate that stupid term.
 
We should make a movie.
Call it "The glitch of our lives!"
We could film it on a member's property or several members' properties to confuse things, spend the first thirty minutes with us tending livestock, cooking, cooking outdoors, pulling guard duty inter spaced with scenes of the city going to hell etc.

I guess I don't remember that part......good! I keep thinking about what they did to that Arquette girl.......just disgusting! I'd rather be dead than holed up underground forever to breathe my last breath. I think the whole point of that movie was that there are most certainly worse things than death.

I think this group could do a MUCH better job of making a movie.
 
It felt like watching security videos of a Nazi prison camp, the cinematography and the acting were great, but the subject matter and story were horrible.

Context: In answer to a posit in a thread 'Over yonder' (Thread was about 'Would you 'save one bullet' for yourself', if you get into an Absolutely Unwinnable 'captive' situation, and you fear torture, etc.. Would you 'do yourself' in such a situ?, etc..

..and One poster posited: 'Don't use a Gun, because it's not a 'guaranteed kill', and Some people have survived self-inflicted GSWs even directly to the face / head (True..) and photos of such - while searchable / out-there - are really horrible'...) Then he / she said:

People Should seek out 'such photos' - and 'Harden themselves', Now - to be Able to stand any chance of actually dealing with such horrors... when they Happen, in the not-too-distant.. NONE of us can say (especially Now) 'well, That Can't Happen, here' (ie: what just happened in Israel, etc) and If one can't even stand to look at Photos of such "reality", well.. What will one do when that happens to a Neighbor or Friend.. 🤔 or Family member? o_O

Swift, decisive and correct Action must be taken to Help them (if-possible) and 'conditioning oneself' - Now - even if just starting with 'getting used to seeing such photos without puking' / fainting / even just wincing, etc is a First step. (Then, sure, Training (EMS / Medic, etc) actual-Experience (Disaster-aid volunteering, etc, etc) dealing-with, and so on.

..Soooo, long-winded-point being: Yah, I, personally, wouldn't 'shy away' from even such a "horrible movie", to help further 'galvanize' my ability to Think during such horrors / resolve to DO the best that Can be done, etc, even though that might leave me with 'disturbed feelings' for some time (ie: I thought 'The Road' was pretty disturbing and quite sad, etc.. But Helpful, all the same..) So, yeah - I'll Plan to watch it sometime, dark as it might be.

'Self-flagellating'? Perhaps, but.. Necessary - Because REAL LIFE IS NOT FORGIVING AT ALL. o_O I am confident the Ukrainians, Venezuelans, Cubans, Haitians, etc, etc, etc would also agree with this. One day to the Next can bring about Radical (and Horrible..) changes to our 'individual Worlds', so we Best 'fortify our Hearts / Minds' - Now - while Life is 'relatively Easy' still.

PS - If Anything, the characters in 'Leave the World Behind' perfectly epitomize what people 'become' / turn Into, when they 'Spare themselves' of such horrors / realities.. People So 'MSM-sheltered' and Holly-spoiled, that they'll - perhaps even quite literally - 'suffer a coronary' because the WiFi / Tik-Tok / FB, CIANN, etc is 'Out' for more than a few Hours, let alone 'to time indefinite'.. :rolleyes: Americans, in-particular, have become SO 'soft', and that Will lead to their demise, one way or another.

mans inhumanity to man....untill one realizes how horrific it can be most people would hesitate to take drastic action...once people grasp the totallity of the horrendous things people are capable of .....only then can people use the neccesary viciousnes to stop the evil..
 
I get what you're saying SoJer. It makes sense. However, one thing that bothers me about these movies is that they almost always focus on the 'fact' that people will inherintly go dark and do truly evil things. There IS a different side of that scenario. Sometimes the worst of times brings out the best in people. I wouldn't count of that, but it will happen in some areas. People will realize that it's much easier to survive if you can get along with people rather than to just kill them all off. It's not to say that folks should just blindly trust one another, but 'united we stand'.

I guess I'm more hopeful than most, but there are some realities that I just don't want to live in. I'm sure the powers that be want us all to go crazy and add to the chaos that they will have (inevitably) created. They can count me out of that plan. I will use self defense, but I will not steal and kill to save my own butt b/c I didn't prepare well enough. If that's the case, then I deserve to sleep in the bed I made for myself. I trust the Lord.....his will be done. I'm not afraid to die, so I won't avoid it at all costs. I will not embrace evil just to live a few more days in this life.
