Hi All! I joined a few days ago as suggested by someone on another board. I've been poking around just to get the lay of the land.

Both my wife & I are retired military. We live in (more or less) central Texas. Our hobbies are (the wife) collecting Swarovski crystal & shopping. Me, I play at gardening, nothing serious, just enough to keep me busy. I used to be into home finance management (saving money) & investing. Not so much anymore because we've done well over the years. Being a Texan & retired military I'm conservative on most issues. My wife & I did go insane about 3 months ago. We have always had dachshunds & someone offered us a dachshund puppy. It had been 30 years since we had gotten a puppy & we forgot the pain that comes with a puppy. So our lives have been upside down since we got her (long haired dapple).

Oh & my Step Father is living with us. He's 92 & not in great health so between taking care of the puppy & him we are kept busy.

There must be something going on, in the place you are leaving. We have been having people come over here lately saying similar things. I think it is sad when people can't realize that we are communities, where we can help each other by giving ideas and information, but it seems that being critical and nasty is the way of being these days.

You got the picture, Weedy. Some of us have gotten to know each other thru the years, saw other members as friends and yes - there was a feeling of community and support for each other. Then.... it was kinda like the rug was pulled out from under us.

Welcome. I grew up in Texas. I haven't lived there in a long time, but I will always consider myself to be a Texan. You might know me as "Jen".
