Donut seeds are otherwise known as 'donut holes', right? Good luck sprouting them...

Hey Mr. Squirrel! Hows yhings in the hood? How's ducks.
Well been sort of rough the last week or so. As for the ducks,I got tired of the dominate drakes always chasing the hen of the "odd couple" and them never getting to use the pond because of it and having to play "duck tennis" every night when I was putting them up. So I gave the "odd couple" to my neighbor. That leaves me 5 ducks and the 3 geese. 2 of the ducks have health issues but I doubt a vet could do much, plus with having to get the cat fixed, right now I don't have the money.

Good morning, Meerkat. :ghostly:
I think I ate too many small peppermint patties last night. Chocolate is like coffee to me and I was posting here like a nervous squirrel.
:coffee:

Well I've been known to be a little squirely myself so don't worry about it Patch. Long as it was fun and nobody got hurt it is good.

We hope to go to the Drive In once weather cools some or mosquitos die off from all this rain in past 10 months. Florida hasn't been the sunshine state fro awhile now. Its a couple hours away but worth it if it is what they say it is.
Most drive in's have closed down but this one has great reviews and seems to be ok. Reading the reviews was encouraging.
Anyone been to a drive in lately?

We have two drive ins in my vicinity. Both are in seedy parts of town and would not feel comfortable going. The new walk ins have recliners and cocktails. Comfy but expensive.

Yea the drive in in Atlanta I went to over 50 years and 3 genrations is also barely hanging on now in a bad part of town. I took the grandkids there about 23 years ago but it was scary so will never go back.
But this one so far is in a ok part of town and already being called racist on FakeBook. The owner said he welcomes all who act civil and so not sure how long this one will last. Some thugs had to be ask to stop disturbing others and so now the hate speech is being applied.
People really liked the nostalgia of visiting a drive in. Or being able to sit with family in their own cars and not be bothered by others.

Good Morning! There is a drive in not too far away from me in another small town. I kept planning on going to it eventually, but never got there. I don't know how much I would enjoy sitting in a vehicle for several hours watching movies. I don't even watch television, I just find it boring and annoying. I doubt I would be comfortable sitting that long. So I still have not gone there. I have a small movie theater across the street and keep thinking one of these days I will go see a movie there, but have not seen anything playing that would want to see. Maybe I will get there eventually. It is not one of the big modern type of theaters so maybe not too expensive.

Kat this is so true. We are also waiting to see what movie is playing on one of the screens ' it is a twin drive in' and we don't have to stay the full time if we don't want to.
It is mainly the nostalgia of the whole thing, more so than any movie they show today.
It is also [for me ] a trip away for awhile from the work farm. And I do love this place but it can be a little much at times too.
I was looking forward to taking the little jon boat down the St Johns River but now Florida is a toxic waster dump it seems with algae and red tide, so no fishing, swimming or snorkling going on. Rivers in the north are still ok so far but it is like being in the woods all the way to the Gulf via the Suwannee River. Still a nice trip but not somethign I'd want to do all the time.

I am SO sad to hear that about the St. Johns River! Do you live near it? I grew up in FL and we lived a mile from the river. My brother and I were always there. We did not swim in it due to so many alligators and snakes. But we were a fishing family and was always out on it and the surrounding fresh water lakes near us, of which there were many. I have such happy memories of it and always hoped to make one last trip to FL to see it and other places that were part of my growing up there.

Mostly the green algae slime is in the triburaries 'spl' but from Lake Okeechobee on down south it is terrible. So far St Johns around Jax is ok. The Corp of Engineers and florid politicians have created a disaster here in Florida, they are destroying all the natural springs up north and central Florida and now have turned central and south into a poison slime pit. All for the love of a dollar, the sugar corporations stopped the drain of Lake Okeechobee into the Everglades and directed into the east and west coast.
Sold off our natural springs to foreign Nestles and domestic Coca Cola bottling companies. But the only thing going here is the damn ball games while Florida dies. The anti American kneeling Jaguar jocks is where most peoples attention is at so when we formed groups to Save Our Springs it was not that many who gave a damn.
I do need to stop letting any of the thigns going on bother me though.

Gov.Rick Scott is in the pockets of lobbyist, imo.

It was north central that I lived. Crescent City to be exact. It was the most beautiful place on earth in the sixties.

It was still beautiful up till last couple decade's. Many of the natural springs are drying up because of millions of gallons a day being taken by bottlers. So Florida was handed off to the politicians and their crooked supporters.
Florida isn't the only state being old off to the highest bidder though, it is happening all over America.
Much of the nation isn't even or even owned or even ran by Americans now.
It is a good time to be old. I cry for the younger generation though. They will never know the beauty and progress we all had the priviledge of growing up in.
It is getting harder to cuss even the most radical of our youth today.

I know what you mean. Here in NY, we have the most beautiful lakes, streams, rivers and ponds, but it is not safe to eat the fish. Everything is polluted after many years of factories dumping in our rivers. It is sad. Even my doctor tells me not to eat much tuna because it comes from a big fish, he says to eat salmon or haddock, since they are smaller fish and have less mercury. But he still wants me to eat fish. Just the thought of everything is polluted, even when we grow our own, it is polluted by the surroundings. Ugh....

Good Morning everyone! I slept later than usual, so just getting my first cup of eye opening coffee. My plans today is to go through some last boxes of things that I moved but didn't know what to do with. Get rid of whatever I do not want or need. I weeded out a lot of clutter when I moved from my house. Try moving with a lifetime of things (and clutter) to a small 350 square foot studio apartment. Not easy, but it gets rid of the excess I did not need or use. I hope you all have a good week.

We're doing the same thing here "weeding out" stuff. Selling and just throwing away stuff that we don't want. If someone else finds it and uses it then good for them. Clothes we leave at those large metal drop off boxes or if we feel like driving all the way in to the bigger town we take it to the Goodwill store and get a receipt for tax purposes. Mostly we just donate it in those drop boxes.
I've given nice hiking boots to hubby to give to the Mexican workers that one of the sub-contractor's use. We also give them the free turkeys we get at Thanksgiving time ( we don't like turkey).

I need to thin out my books but I keep putting it off. I think I need all of them lol

Since we're all just sittin' roun', let's talk about mosquitoes. I can't sit outside for long without skeeters getting to me.
I use a citronella-based spray without DEET, but they still fly around my face.
I've tried using burning torches but its not the safest and has to be in the right position to keep them away. Rarely get that right, I either get bitten or smoked out. I do not smoke.

What do you use to keep bugs away?
