The love of my life is one of my dogs, a pear headed chihuahua named Dolly. She is 8 years old now and needs to have some teeth pulled and one of them is a molar. I went to one vet clinic and the doctors visit cost me $68.00 and he gave us some medicine. He also quoted me that the cost of pulling her teeth would be $1000.00. Money has to be paid up front. She had some teeth pulled 3 yrs. ago at another vet and he charged us $300.00 however I forgot where it was. Finally found where they were and am going to make an appointment to see when we can get in and have it done. Even if I had to pay the 1k I would have it done cuz I can't imagine not having here around. I took 5 days and went to visit my brother in Ca. and my wife said she was sullen all the time I was gone. She sleeps in my bed and my other chihuahua (June Bug) sleeps under my bed. I work from 4pm til midnight and they are always up when I come home waiting for me. When you get attached to an animal it's hard to see them suffer and you just wish they could talk and tell you what's wrong with them. They just look at you with those eyes and your heart bleeds. Ever since she was 6 weeks old I called her my "little monster" and she comes running to me. I am at the age where if something happens to them, I doubt if I would have another pet. They are worse than kids, but you can do nothing but love them. You can get mad at them but when you come home they always greet you with their tails wagging. I had a wife that used to do that but that ceased many years ago. I am better off with pets I guess.

Best to all my friends,
Tommy

I never thought I'd like that breed of dog. But son and girlfriend moved on to our property and I've gotten to know Izzy. She's half chihuahua and half yorkie and the funniest thing you ever saw. Bat ears, long body, hair sticks up in funny places. But she owns the place, and I like to say, she owns every bed in our house. She hates most everyone and will threaten to take their head off if someone is at our door, but she loves us and I'm her abuela. She was mad once, and popped an eye out . The vet had to put it back in but she seems to be blind in one eye. If she wants a treat or is happy, she juts out her bottom teeth to smile. She lives with her large breed brother dogs and is the boss of them. Her morning laps outside around her brothers is hysterical to watch. I do a fair amount of "babysitting" if her mom and dad go out. She doesn't seem bothered by our two old men housecats. Actually, they are bigger than she is.

I hear ya, Tommy. Even when they drive you nuts, you still love 'em. We lost my old Doberman a few weeks ago, and it's still a shock when I pull in and he's not out there spinning in circles, waiting for me to get out of the car. He's earned his final resting spot under a mulberry tree on Pops's farm. I know you treasure every minute with her, Tommy, cuz every minute is special...

Sorry to hear about your loss.
It's always a difficult time when we lose one we love.
People or animal.

I hate to hear when someone looses a loving animal. It takes a part of your heart and tears it out. I was at a car show for the animal shelter and they had dogs on display for adoption. There was a fairly large animal in a cage and it was sullen and shook with fear. The vet who was taking care of the animals said it was just brought in last week to the shelter and the family had given it up although they had owned the dog for 14 years. My heart bleed for that dog. Who would or could give up an animal that they had for so long, an animal devoted and loving and always glad to see you when you come home. I did not dwell upon the circumstances although I did take the animal out of the cage to hold it. The first thing it did after petting it was to give me "kisses" and crouched up next to my legs. If I could have I would have brought it home although our house is small and so is our yard. This dog only has a few years left and why it was sheltered was beyond my belief. I would rather have it put to sleep rather than sit in a cage and hopefully search for a loving family because very few people will take a dog of that age. What is wrong with people and our society today? When ever I can I donate what I can afford to because this shelter is owned by friends and I know they work hard to find good homes.

I have a pomeranian named smokie. Had a Chihuahua named lilbit.gave her to soneone when i moved.only got on to her once in 2 years.but kept it low sacle when i did,so i wouldn't actully hurt her.but i got the saddest pitiful look when i did.almost broke my heart when i did.she ain't much of a barker.when ever we were outside. she'd growl at something when it'd get to close to the yard.i tell her.it's ok.she stops growling.

Dealing with a very old for a large dog now. She has been the most fantastic dog we ever owned and that really says something we have had some good ones. We have to take her for walks on a sling but yesterday she even went off porch down the ramp and came back in on her own.
She will be 19 next month. Greyhound Yellow Retrever mix.
I was on the walker fro a few days and she was in a sling we made to hold up back legs. Hubby was having bad shoulder pain so we all went out at same time. now all doing better.:lil guy:

Wow, 19 is fantastic for a dog that size. You're very fortunate to have so much time with her.

Yes it is, even the vet didn't believe it. Till we reminded he is the one who gave her to us and so he looked on her file and just shook his head, and that was a couple years ago.. Her mother was full blooded greyhound bred for racing and a yellow Retever got to her.
