Hi Everyone!!! I just saw the pumpkin bonus pattern and LOVE it!!!! Made my day!!! I'm going to leave off the face also for the quilt but for a calendar quilt I WOULD use the face. :) I'm almost done with my FD block if I get off this computer!!! I got side tracked as usual. LOL!!! I'm making it with a chicken theme and with sunflower fabric also. Will post a pic of it and my sunflower SOON - I keep forgetting plus I am photo challenged. LOL!!! :) Dani - Are you making the quilt als0???
Not yet. . . Unfortunately, but this is one that I will be doing. The theme is too good for me not to.

FD block done - I was surprised at how easy it was and how fast it worked up by following Elenore's directions!!! Planning pumpkin fabrics now. I'm not going to make the star for this quilt. It just gets lost in the fabric. Maybe some other time when making a wall hanging where I want to be a little fancier. :) Dani - the blocks LOOK difficult but if you follow the pattern directions that are given they go up really easy and fast!!!

So far the only one that is intimidating is the Sunflower, probable because I have never done anything like that. The instructions were confusing to me. . Once the flower is put together, is it attached to the block by a handstitch?

Dani, you can sew the sunflower to the background any way you like. I sewed the mini-flowers down by hand but did the big sunflower on the sewing machine. I just do what seems the easiest at the time. If you watch the Eleanor Burns video posted somewhere in the first couple of pages of this thread, you'll see how simple it is to make the blades and then you just sew them together. Once you've made a couple of Dresden Plates and see how easy it is, you'll be hooked. I've always thought it was one of the prettiest quilt patterns.

I finally finished the Cowboy Baby Quilt..!! whew.. it's my first time making a Row by Row.. I'm very happy with the way it turned out.. now I can start on my Fun on the Farm blocks.. I'm way behind.. but I know they will go fast ..

I guess my other two pictures are too large to post here.. well darn.. wanted to show an up close of the quilting.. .I had a lot of fun doing this quilt.. :)

I found if I take a screen shot of pictures that won't post, I can post the screen shot. Don't know why but it works for me.

Guess we've all been really good because we got a big surprise this morning! A cute little pumpkin pattern as a bonus block! They even gave us the shapes to make a jack o'lantern face. The regular pattern shows using a few HSTs to make a star inside the pumpkin but I think I'll skip that and just use all squares. There's also a leaf shape that would work good with the sunflower blocks, too.

That is really precious, Maxine! What great fabric! I don't have my Farmer's Daughter made but I went ahead and ordered the kit. I know it will make up fast. When they posted the pumpkin block, they didn't have the kits made up and it took them a while. I finally got mine a few days ago. I'm excited to see what the November block will be, too. We started with an animal, a flower and then a pieced block so I think (hope) that we'll get another farm animal this time. I'm also hoping that we'll get another bonus block every few months. Sometime in the next week, I'll take a day to get caught up on all my Farm blocks. I'm still loving this BOM!

Thanks Katie.. :) There was another lady that had used those cows in her blocks and I really liked the way her block turned out.. I remembered I had some of that fabric too so made mine with it.. I like the way it turned out too.. I have the Dresden Sunflower made,, am just agonizing what color to use for background.. now am making Pumpkin so will see if that same background color will work for Sunflower,, kinda tie them all in together.. I might remake my Pig., not liking the way she is looking now compared to my other blocks.. I did have fun making her.. but I think I put too many things with her.. will see what the rest of our blocks will be.. I too hope it's another animal.. maybe a Turkey for November.. if not,, I really like the one you had posted on those sites.. and now that I think about it,, Eleanor has a cool turkey in one of her books.. Ah the choices and possibilities!

If you have something you like to use as a background for all the blocks, that will be pretty but you don't have to make them all the same. I think the sashing sets the blocks apart and they look almost like pictures in a frame. After I made my scrap pig, I didn't care for the way it looked and thought about leaving it out. Then I came to my senses and realized that when these are all put together, they're going to be fantastic! I think we get too critical of our own work sometimes. Your little pig is a cutie pie! If you decide you want to make the quilt blocks a little simpler, you could always make a separate small quilt with "dressed up" blocks to use for a wall hanging. How cute would that be! I keep thinking about a calendar quilt with these because I have a lot of seasonal fabric like green shamrocks, hearts, 4th of July, etc., and could make pigs for each month just using the fabrics. That would be such a precious baby quilt but I don't have any babies or small children in the family right now.

Several people have already made their barn blocks and posted pictures on the Facebook page. Everybody was ready and waiting for the new block! Our weather has been really changeable this past week and I feel like I'm trying to come down with something. Yuk. Hoping when I wake up in the morning the raw throat and aches will be gone.

I LOVE that Autumn Jubilee quilt Katie!!!! I want to make it sometime before NEXT Fall and keep it for myself!!! Thanks for posting it!!! My pumpkin block is done and will soon work on my barn. I think it will work up fast!!!

I thought it was a great little design. I have a lot of scraps and small pieces of fall colored prints and this would be a good way to use them up. You could also use other things besides the pumpkins. This Craftsy heart would be perfect. Their tutorial makes an 8" block but it could easily be enlarged. They cut their heart strips 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" but if you cut them 2" x 9 1/2", you'll get a 9 1/2" heart and frame it using 2" wide strips. That will make a 12 1/2" block. I hardly ever make hearts but thought that would be cute for a girl and use different colors for the hearts, make them really scrappy.

Oh My Katie and Kim!! I too love the Autumn Jubilee Quilt..!! I very much want an Autumn Quilt like that and those Craftsy hearts are a cool idea!! Gracious I have to start sewing faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whew! You ladies are enabling me to do nothing except sew!!! sew!! sew!!! That is my plan for this winter while sitting in the Arizona Sonora Desert in my sewing tent. Yep.. only Sewing for me!!

When (if) I get caught up on my current projects, I want to take another run at using up more of my stash so I need some fast and easy patterns. The stars and pumpkins would really fit the bill for that so maybe we should do a sewalong and work on it together!

I started thinking about what other blocks we'll have for this farm quilt and the things that have been pictured. In the video for the pig pattern, they had some people dress up in animal costumes - a pig, a chicken and some cows - and the guys wore overalls. I believe we will get a cow and a chicken and maybe an Overall Bill as a bonus block. In the picture on the QIAD page, we see a pig and a barn, which we already have but it also shows a windmill and haystacks in a field. I'd love a windmill block and a haystack block! I think we'll get a couple more pieced blocks and the first one I thought of was Farm Friendliness because of the name and Weathervane is another possibility.

Quilter's Cache has a small Farm Friendliness block and Nancy's Notions has a 12" pattern with a tutorial.

I couldn't get the turkey pattern I was using to work for me so I started looking for a Dresden style pattern. I've found a few freebies that have possibilities. I think I could use the templates for our Dresden Plate to make the tail feathers and use the body off of one of these for the turkey.

To get the size I'd need on this one, it looks like I'll need to put the scale at 200% to print it.

I really like this one the best but I can't increase the scale and it will be on the small size. If I add an extra seam allowance around the body when I cut it out, I think it would work to put it on the background block we used for the pig. After I get caught up with the pumpkin and barn, I'll play with this idea.

Is everybody else caught up besides me?
