The ICRC is funded by voluntary contributions from the States party to the Geneva Conventions (governments); national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies; supranational organizations (such as the European Commission); and public and private sources. Each year the ICRC launches appeals to cover its projected costs in the field and at headquarters. It will launch additional appeals if needs in the field increase. The ICRC accounts for its work and expenditure in its Annual Report.

I find it ironic that many forums I visit every day as chastising our conservatives for trying to stop this migration who is coming to this country for Asylum. And now, on this forum, the American Red Cross is blamed for the Mexican Red Cross who is providing water and medical assistance to this same group.

I don't know about the Red Cross, but they are migrants. They turned down asylum when Mexico offered it.

I just saw a meme that said the American Red Cross was giving aid to the caravan in Mexico. Wonder if it's true?

Well they don't call it the 'Red' cross for nothing. As I said before not the good people in the middle and at the bottom who do help people, but those at the top are no good, imo. And those at Ft Benning back in the 60s of course were not good folks either.

Here is us helping right after the Katrina Hurricane.

I stand corrected ,it seems to be the other nations , NOT American Red Cross helping caravan. I still don't care for higher ups but think people like you are doing a great job, thanks Havusu.

I just got to see these when I logged in. People helping others prevent a lot of misery, plus it feels good to give.
We went through a storm in a shelter here but forgot which one. We brought in our queen size air mattress and two old ladies kept kidding with hubby they were going to take. Hubby had not long had major back surgery so a cot would have not been comfie..

I spend a 14 day stint on one of those wooden cots. Not comfy at all. Many chose to buy the air mattresses but is you have special medical needs, I have seen the shelter manager go out themselves to purchase you a blow up mattress. That box van in the first picture was us working security at a food kitchen that was being ripped off my hundreds of police. We "hot cotted" in the box van, 3 of us, for 8 hour shifts. We did this for 4-5 days straight.

For sure, cots are for kids who can lay on anything. Our air mattress was elevated higher than most.
Your the tops Havasu and good hearted.
