I have requests from 3 of my granddaughters for Barbie clothes this Christmas!!! Does anyone have ideas for EASY outfits??? Santas workshop needs to get started!!!!
I was always very thin and tall. By the time clothing was long enough, it was twice as wide as it should have been. I sewed most of my own clothing for that reason, but I also like creating with my hands. I would see some piece of clothing, try it on and it would be too short and wide, and expensive. I would take the idea and recreate my own version of those pieces of clothing. I was in 4-H for 9 years and took Home Ec in h.s. where we had sewing training as well.Granny, the things we do for our kids and grandkids!!! Lol!!! Weedy, when I was little we didn't have Barbies but I had a doll LIKE a Barbie but without movable legs and the pretty glued on hair from the dime store that my grandma got me. I named her Sally. I was always wanting to help my grandma when she darned but she always said that I was too little...One time when she was darning my grandpa's socks I took a needle from the pincushion and the thread and laid under the coffee table and threaded it!!! I showed her so she let me thread all the needles for her then and gave me some little scraps of fabric to make clothes for my doll! She only had to show me how to straight stitch once - I caught on real fast food watching her. When I got to home ec. age and we were taught to sew clothing, I started making all of my clothes and took tailoring in high school and learned to make my own coats, jackets etc. I did that until I was 32 and went back to work full time. It will be fun to play with Barbie clothes again!!!!
Have you seen this idea for ornaments ? I have been making them for a craft show in two weeks, so much fun to make them....here is the link...they will make perfect little hats for dolls I bet....
