Temps been up and down this week. 22 one morning, 42 this morning. Highs 30 and 40's. Expecting rain and possible snow showers by Sunday. Other side of the mountain up to 2' of snow. All depends on a approaching cold front from the north and a wet low coming out of the gulf. It could come up this side of the mountain instead and dump on us. Doubtful, but I for one wish it would. My luck just a cold rain.

Really light rain this morning as I tried to blow more leaves to the garden. Finally gave up as they got too wet, so did I. It's been raining hard the last couple hours and suppose to have near 2" by the time it quits. There is snow nearby and more in the higher elevations. Wish it would move on down here too. Across the mountians they are expecting 10-20".

What's the conversion? 12 inches of snow = 1 inch of rain? Last time I checked the rain gauge it was over 5 inches of rain... just a little colder = 60 inches of snow?... Better you than me... Life here would shut down for 2 weeks. :D

Your conversion sounds about right. Yeah 60" would put the hurt on some northern states for a bit. Down south with no more snow removal equipment than we have it would shut things down for awhile. I was hoping the cold would come to this side of the mountain but no luck so far. I love snow and don't get much of it without going to the mountians.

To funny, years ago I lived in Buffalo, NY. Once we got 60 inches of snow over the course of a week. I had to dig a trench for my mailman. I could barely see the top of his grey skullcap when he delivered the mail... But life didn't slow down, streets were clear.

The bad snow is in early winter, before the great lakes freeze over... "Lake Effect" snow daily. By late December the lakes freeze, afterwards we might have gotten a blizzard or two... some below zero temps... but not a lot of snow until the lakes began to thaw.

@Bacpacker Glad you got to see some snow... you can keep it... That said I do like to see a few flakes from time to time. Other than that, I've seen enough. Two winters in Chicago and 3 in Buffalo... Like the old John Prine song "Please don't bury me" says... "Send my mouth way down south, and kiss my *** goodbye"

I've had enough snow... ;)

Supposed to be sunshine and low 40's this week until friday when we can get rain/sleet/snow. we have to wait and see what it wants to do

The actual conversion rate is actually 12" of snow = back pain and 12" of rain = no shovelling.;)

Funny, one year in Buffalo a friend gave me a snow blower he couldn't get to run. All the bolts on the carb were loose. The real problem... all the carb gaskets were toast. A foreign engine, no parts available.

I discovered I could drive it into the wind with no problem. The opposite would kill the motor in a heart beat.

I made it through the winter with this piece of junk. The next spring I put it at the end of the drive with a big "Free" sign on it. I intended to tell the new owner what was wrong with it.

I happened to make a run to the market that morning... the snow blower was gone when I got home...

Too funny, I hope they figured out what was wrong with it. :D

well that 40-some degree weather didn't make here yesterday. it only got up to 34. sunny and nice but its only in the teens at night. brrrr
