All parents ,grand parents raising kids today should watch this video . I think it is right on.

I often get mad at the wild antics of the youth today especially ANTIFI, BLM etc, etc, etc,. But then I have to realize what they are exposed to through no fault of their own.
Also the these kids from 5 years old to 24 are committing suicide or dying from drugs.
If no other reason just watch a very interesting take on the life today of of those born from 1960-1990 and those born from 1990 thru 2000

The guy lost me at the end. What I'm seeing is the kids have no concept of measuring up to expectations. Frankly they are offended by the idea that they need to work as hard as the people who came before them. But I'm hopeful because it's definitely not all of them. The kids we get at work, who come from blue collar backgrounds, tend to do great. I think we just have to have a little patience and remember that the real world will force the rest to grow up eventually. And like any other generation, some are just never going to get it...

I see a number of middle school and high school children with no expectations at home except to be fed and watch video games. So when they're 18, they're supposed to know how to work? If they choose college and pick a useless degree, that doesn't help them either. I have fired many a young person who I catch using their cell phone when they are supposed to be watching a class of children. It seems some can't do without it. Usually hide it in their bra.

Spike, not making excuses for them but we have to realize these young people don't have the opportunity's we had far as a good paying job.
A lot of their jobs went to other nations. Then AI artificial intellegence took over many really good paying factory jobs too. I know in 1973 I had a good paying job on assembly line at GM Auto Plant. There were 1000s of us working at that one plant in Atlanta. Now 90% of those jobs are done by robots. Our auto industry went to Mexico and robots. As did lots of other manufacturing jobs that afforded millions of Americasn a fair paycheck.

True. But who is to blame for this kind of society? It is all of us or is it just the way the world is now that breeds these kinds of kids.
I don't know anymore but it seems to me that bad character and manners rules today.
I get mad at my grand kids and even great grands at times but then I also feel bad for them too.
I get onto my daughter for having a movie thing in her back seat for her grand kids to watch. I tell her they should not have to be entertained even in the car. She said it saves her sanity, lol. Hearing those kid movies blaring wouldn't do anythign for my sanity.

Millennial co-worker been here a year and complaining there is no "path" for promotion. Spends her work day listening (watching) soccer waiting for someone to tell her what to do. If it is a multi-step task you can't give her all the steps at once because co-worker will argue why the task has to be done in that order and doesn't listen as you explain. Constantly walks into other offices, talking as she comes in the room. I had to put by face inches from her (to keep her attention) as I explain that it is very rude to interrupted when others are talking.

Then there is my wife's great-nephew. Has his face planted in a computer screen or in a smart phone.

I work with 2 who are early 20s. The one works her butt off, the other not so much. Ticks me off too cuz it usually means more work for me. She cares, she wants to get ahead and be successful. She has work ethic. The other, he thinks he's special and most everyone else thinks so too. I like him but he thinks he doesn't have to do certain things. Like staying busy.

For the most part kids don't have chores anymore at home. They start off lazy and bored.
We had all kinds of manual labor 50 or so years ago to do. I'd get concerned when mama would start looking around the property, it alway meant more hard work. But glad later on because work was part of life for us.
Kids now mostly live in city. Hashbrown comes to mind here. He is teaching that boy of his that work is a good thing.

Actually, they've got it better than we did, there are just so many who are not willing to do anything to have success. There are more skilled labor jobs in the US than there are workers to fill them, but millennials don't want to be electricians or welders or machinists or truck drivers. Hell, OTR truckers in my area make $60,000 easily. Some companies are advertising 60K to start, and up to 100K including bonuses for experienced drivers. Kids just don't want the work. They want to go to college and come out with useless degrees, then complain it's not fair that they can't make over $35K. I tell them that when I was 24 I went to work night shift in a plastic factory for $7.80/hr. but I got myself promoted in 9 months. They say, it's because I'm a white male. They get really whiney when I say no, it's because I worked hard, long hours with no days off for 6 or 7 weeks straight and I didn't complain about it.

And your also correct about these spoiled kids today but is it all their fault or do we elders and Generation X have to take some blame ?
We sent the majority of them to nursery from birth to school to adulthood. Spent very little time as a society as a whole on making sure what they were being taught was what they needed to know or little study and lots of agendas.

I don't think the majority of two whole generations just woke up one day and decided they wanted to be communist.
Parents dropped the ball when they left PTA Meetings and mothers careers ,big homes and cars became more important than her children.
This was not an accident but was planned like those who tried to warn us were said.
I think we need a change of society before we will see a change in our youth. But then I am not sure so appreciate what yall think.

My children learned at an early age not to tell dad, "We're bored!" because I would find chores for them to do.

LOL, so did mine and my grandkids too. I had 4 to 6 grands all summer and most holidays when out of school for 2 weeks.
Theres always one who likes to instigate the others in these groups. She would say Nana ' I'm bored ' and the rest would say " shut up Ashley".
There were no phones or tv here but I did get them a transistor radio each to listen to when not busy. Plus took them roller skating, to the beach, mountain snow ski once, snorkle dive trips and lots of fishing on boat and shore. So I never minded them being busy when here with us. They all chose to come here every year till mid teens.
My kids never said it.

Well, you're right about Gen X and Boomers having some of the blame. I guess I just don't see blaming anyone as doing any good. It's the kids who have to get their heads and their butts wired together, and we can help but we can't do it for them...

I agree. And I tell my kids the same thing about their kids and grandkids. Of course some are learning already that the word "NO " can be a good thing in the long run.
It got pretty hot here one summer 3 yr.s ago and it wasn't just the weather!
One of my 7 yr.old greatgrand kid's [ him and his brother's mother is in prison for a long time ] kept running over my plants ,stomping them and slamming my screen door. we told him to stop and he said 'no'. Then pulled back the door and slammed the hell out of it.
Thats when I got up and told his granny my daughter you whip his ass or I will. She smarted off and I told her I'd whip hers too. I worked very hard on those plants.
So don't think I don't get what your saying. Its not fair that grand parents have to raise so many grandkids now a days but giving them their way and phones to occupy them is not a good idea.

When I started working for the Government I took a pay cut from unemployment. My co worker took a pay cut from bagging groceries. We were GS3's. No one starts that low anymore. I really can't imagine things are harder today.

We've tried all kinds of coffee and it just ain't what it use to be.
I've read but don't really know they now add fillers like sawdust ,etc,.
I know it doesn't smell as much like coffee as it use to, but then they say people with early alzimers can't smell coffee. Hope it is the coffee and not me.

Hm. I haven't drank coffee in 26 years, not a drop.
One of my uncles smoked heavily and drank a lot of coffee. His skin looked like leather, especially his face. The tannic acid may have had something to do with that.

I know a lot of really squared away millennials. They are working hard, buying houses, creating families. Not all of them are idiots. Probably a lesser percentage of idiots than in the 60's and early 70's. How many of these "kids these days" threads can we have?

My skin is ok for my age and I love my coffee. Patch coffee isn't all that ages us,some of it is genetics but most may be lifestyle or too much sun. I always tanned well for a blond blue eyed person. But stopped laying in the sun when I was 30.

I'd say this is one of the threads for them too. Or you can put up another one for the positive mellennials and Gen.X that may be a good one too. My kids are all self supporting, independent and moral middle aged people.
I also have 3 good Gen X kids and most of my grand kids are doing ok and not into the crazy part of it. Out of 12 grandkids only 3 are not doing too good and making bad choice's.

He drank A LOT OF COFFEE and chain smoked. Genetics were not playing a factor in the way his skin looked. His voice sounded bad too. While his brothers still had their handsome faces, not so covered with the lines and wrinkles. He was the youngest. I'm not saying everyone who drinks coffee looks like a piece of leather. The combination of chain smoking, drinking coffee, poor nutrition, lack of fresh air...ya think oil of Olay would have helped?

LOL, not sure about the Olay. But I do like olive oil and coconut oil. I'm getting more basic now a days Patch. And I'm a smoker for 56 years now but never smoked more than half a cig at a time and never chained smoke, well maybe when I was going through bad times but not all the time.
I can't stand cigaretts but when I don't smoke most people can't stand me.

My children are Millennials(22-37 in 2018)
Gen Z are (8-23 in 2018)
This guy was talking about 22,25, 30,35 & 37 year old adults, not the kids just out of high school that most people think are Millennials.
They are Gen Z which are 18,19,20,21,22 in 2018.
My son coming home shaking his head at the 25-35 year old, heavy drinker, druggies, jail birds & guy that have worked in the field for ten years & seem to be lost when it comes to doing a go job for their pay check.
So I am worried about the quality these 24 to 37 year olds are or are not doing on the job.

I was taught that too.
I too past it on to my children.

.

Good point and to think this generation will be caring for us Boomers and to more a degree GenX.

I have seen the difference in their compassion opposite those of times past. The MeToo movement should say MeOnly because they only care about what they have been programmed to care about. And nobody is more at fault for this than we Boomers.

I don't know what I did to this post whe nI edited it.

My neices and nephews (ages 24 - 29) are all squared away like that. One is an Air Force nurse, two are ESL teachers, there's an agronomist, a linguist, a nutritionist, and one is a teacher but is a full time mom of two little girls at the moment. Even the one who is mildly autistic is employed full time as a truck driver. But, they were all raised in an old school way, and I think that's really the difference.
