Cataracts are starting to form on both eyes, 15 to 20 years they will have to be dealt with. Doctor thought sunglasses should become a habit.

I have a tiny cataract starting on my right eye. My doc didn't give a time frame but gave the sunglasses talk also. Thing is I've been wearing them for decades. They have gotten better at stopping the rays in the last 20yrs or so. I also wear a wide brim hat when out in the sun

highlight of the day..watched a 16 foot 1x4 launch off my machine, flip and do a spinny midair, smack into the catwalk and fall on the electricial panels housing unit...good times..I gave a thumbs up to no one since im out in the boon docks of the mill at the end of the line but eh..
then about a hour later the fire alarm goes off..I got excited because I thought yeah! were going home early!! and started looking for fire along with my co workers. Gleefully skipping about looking for fire in a sawmill is a bad sign generally but too much ot tends to damper ones sense of priorities..anyways, as it turned out..a construction crew guy used the wrong hoze and set off and charged the sprinkler system connected to the alarm.
So then the maintence guys had to go around draining sprinkler pipes full of water that are usually only charged with air. freezing pipes to our fire system is a really bad gig in a sawmill and while I hate all the ot we ar doing lately..I still need this job..
otherwise..my Thursday was boring boring boring...sigh...boring..cant wait for the weekend..

I have no idea about cataracts. Sun glasses help prevent them?

I have a couple wide brimmed hats that I wear outside as well.

Talked one sister intp getting some extra food and water by relying heavily on homeland security as the one telling it. The other sister thinks her hubby can buy her anything. He can now but what about later?
Anytime is a great time for people to have extra food and water stocked and great for homeland security putting that out there.

The scary thing, really, is that they are advising that people have a 6 months supply. It may not be scary for any of us, but it is scary to think that Homeland Security is advising 6 months worth. They have said 72 hours worth for years.

What do they know?

I would recommend you don't buy the 15 to 20 year BS... That's what I was told 3 years ago... Advising sunglasses is the give away...

Any who... just went through the VA process... took 11 months for one eye.

I can give you the skinny...

I go to the Eye Doctor about every 8 to 10 years. Figure I'll get an update then. I'm not a worrier and what will be will be. I'll deal with it when they start to affect my vision.

Laundry, dishes, deep cleaning the house.
Got to cook today too.
Might check into getting quieter dehydrator, mine is extremely loud of late.
Might be cause I got my hearing checked though, but I doubt it.
Might try Amish heart idea of dehydrating cooked rice, sounds interesting.
Want to sew this weekend on Estelle's new quilt.
Also found out last night going to be Great Aunt again in March and April.
Baby in March is girl, baby in April is boy.
Only 6 baby quilts behind now. Whoopee! 4 baby announcements behind Whoopee!
Will make an even dozen great grandchildren for my parents.
Update:
Laundry washed, dried but not put away as of yet.
Had Estelle again today.
Still planning on cooking, but may change up menu a bit.

I prefer the hat to glasses. I like the breathable straw hats with fine weave.

I've some biz to take care of this week plus hope to take boat out soon . And hoping Shark Hilton prolongs his Jax vacation and stays away from St.Augustine.

I juat looked on the fed website and on there they are still saying have a 3-day supply of food.

3-day food supply.

Just had a thought. SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, everything goes south. Everyone that has a 3-day supply of food is designated by the "Authorities" as a "Horder".

I imagine they are like where I live. One year, a street gets repaved. The next year, they dig it up to replace gas or water lines. Then they patch it. A few years later, they repave the road. I just know that the next year or two they will replace sewer/water/ something and dig up the road again and then patch it again. We live with patched roads more than a new repaved road.

Homeland security made a recommendation, but forgot to tell the people who update the webpage?

I don't think it's on the website. I read somewhere that it was in the middle of a document. Sorry, can't remember where I read that.
Had work, but a short day. A number of students were out with fevers, and some out because they were going out of town. So very quiet. I had computer work to do, but my computer took a dive, so hoping husband will stop by the school tomorrow and make it work.
Got to meet husband for lunch today after his pulmonary rehab he goes to. Had a gift card for Rudy's. I love their pulled pork. Cold and rainy out. Need to go deal with the animals and get some indoor stuff down. Reloaded the dehydrator with more cooked brown rice. I think I have about 10 lbs more to cook and dry. Some just told me that Costco ran out of their big buckets of prepper mac cheese. I told him it probably wasn't worth the $, unless it was on super sale. Honestly, you can get dehydrated cheese, milk and butter from Emergency Essentials, fill a bucket with mac noodles. Maybe it's sold to the cooking impaired.

I made a run into walmart this morning. We'll be getting snow starting tomorrow some time and I KNOW if I wait until tomorrow as usual ( regular day to get dairy) it'd be all gone or picked over big time.
It was packed. I found what I needed so now tomorrow I only have to pick up things that should still be stocked.
Folded laundry, read some, did dishes, made supper. Have another hour before I get the coffee pot ready and then I go to bed

Woohoo yesterday we fixed both outdoor tap leaks. 1 was an old 25mm pipe leading into a new poly t-piece and the older pipe is slightly smaller so we put a few layers of electrical tape around it and put it back in the fitting and ta da no leaks. The tap out in the front yard was just loose so we screwed it back onto the pipe and now that doesn't leak either.

We also put on 3 loads of washing on in the washing machine (1 was the new jeans and underwear that turned up), hung it on the clothes line and brought it back in when dry. I ferried the grey water to water the canna, calla, spider and fruit trees with in the paddock for two loads and DH took over the last load of water. We then folded up the 3 loads of washing and made the bed with clean sheets and I emptied the recycling and normal rubbish into the outside bins.

DH swept the house and I deep cleaned the bathroom and toilet for the week and then we went to the RSL club and had a few soft drinks and played a game of pool for a bit of low cost entertainment. Turns out the RSL wants a cleaner and a lawn maintenance person too so DH will be paid to mow, spray for weeds and whipper snip if necessary and I will do an hour of cleaning there being mopping and cleaning the facilities for which I will be paid in cash. It all helps us with buying extra equipment needed for the property and to set up our raised garden beds here.

Our neighbour in the afternoon dropped over about 500 g of each of whiting fillets and cod fillets which we have in the freezer to use for more meals. In the last week she has also dropped off about 5kg of cherry tomatoes, 500 g of beans, around 1kg of string beans and 500 g of Chinese egg plant. We have washed and frozen most of the tomatoes, some are ripening in a bowl and others we have used for meals. The cucumber we have been having in salads and on salad sandwiches.

Round 1 of today is DH is going to check on the 1 tap and pipe leak he repaired yesterday to see if there is any leaks before he puts all the dirt back in the holes. Other than that I am just mellowing in front of the computer and may do some sewing today and if I get around to it shortening some curtains and making some others for the food storage room as the blinds are in the way of the storage shelves and we have to put them too far away from the walls.

Had a minor melt down when I checked the Irish potato bin after I spent every spare cent I had on the water storage and found out that most were rotten.

ARRRHHHHHHH!! NO POTATOES!!!!!!....ahem......

After I calmed the heck down I remembered I planted sweet potato slips at the same time I planted my capsicums mid-winter.
I dug up two vines and got more than a arm-load of good usable sized sweet potatoes - who knew my talents included really bad
sweet potato juggling and who'd-a-thunk that bringing a bucket out to the garden would have been an awesome idea. Obviously not me.
Hence the not so awesome juggling act.

I'm making a bucket worth the slips off the discarded vines to replant because it seems that the 3 days of winter we have here isn't enough to worry
these particular strain of sweet potatoes.

I spoke too soon we had to go and get a joiner for the front tap, then came back and realised the pipe was too small by about an inch. We went to a friends house and got some more pipe but unfortunately it too is the wrong size because the inch pipe that is there was imperial and we have a metric piece and they are ever so different in size. Oh well going to town tomorrow for church and will have to take the piece in with us to see if we can find the right size pipe or some sort of adaptor to make it work. Meanwhile we will turn off the mains water and use the tank water and have a bath instead of shower tonight. Not a big issue as most of the house runs on tank water anyway except for the shower.

Took a vacation day Friday and took the wife to a Bob Seagar concert. I got her tickets for Christmas. First time shes ever got to see him and always wanted to. It w.as an awesome show. He sounds almost as good as he did back in the 80s when i saw him first.

I saw him in 1980 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Amazing concert! And great gift!

I wish it would snow here. All it does here is rain. It's a big muddy mess outside. If we have to have so much precipitation, snow would be pretty at least. I worked on my first raised bed today. I made it from stuff that was lying around here, so it cost me nothing to make. My goal is to build three more before April. This afternoon, I watched my husband and neighbor treat our cow for delayed placenta. She had to have four shots in the neck, one in the hip, and four large pills inserted. What a production!
