My sister just asked me to teach her how to can! Miss "your a hoarder" or "your turning Amish" has finally started paying attention. I think her working as a grocery store cashier and seeing just how many people are on food stamps surprised her. She was asking me if I had heard anything about when the gov was going to open back up and what would happen to the food stamps. My answer was, we aren't getting paid for working why should they get paid for not working. (I know, I know, lots do have jobs).

So now when she gets paid she wants to buy a canner, supplies and some chicken. I think I'm going to just let her use one of mine until her birthday and then buy her one. Or give her one and get me a new one.:ghostly:

One of my biggest problems with technology is not feeling like i can read line after line of text on a screen. My brain says it needs all the information now and in condensed form. If brain can't have it that way, brain will not read, skim, or scan.
Real books with actual pages are different and easier for me.
Also, due to a justifiable amount of stress, I can't focus like I used to.
Weird things are happening to our brains because of technology, our unbridled use of it, and a decrease of face to face interaction.
How has technology affected you?

All true imo. We all deal with lots of stress now and best cure for that is get busy. But some days you just don't want to because your stressed out.o_O
Technology has increased to the point of danger. It is taking away the human part of us that reasons and positive emotions of human communications and feelings.

I never used a laptop much at all, and no email either until 3 yrs ago. I'd say it's a timewaster for me. And it causes me to gain weight. I don't get the newspaper anymore (except the Sunday paper for coupons) and I read my news online. Prepper Podcast Network is what I listen to on my laptop when I'm cooking. Or my music YouTube lineup. Children are a different matter. The twins came to live with us 4 years ago and they were 24/7 screen kids. Video games, computer, tv. It affected them terribly with their social skills. It also affected them in that they had been looking up things on the computer they shouldn't have. Granddaughter was trying to dress like a streetwalker watching all those R rated music videos and she was nine years old then. She was trying to get on social chats and not knowing who she was chatting with. Grandson was listening to gangster rap videos and looking up how to make bombs. I'm sure porn would of come next. So we constantly work on social skills. Communication. They don't have cell phones, but allowed to call their friends (not text) when they would like to. Our grandson was begging me last year to just be able to be a normal boy like his friends. I asked what that meant. It meant, come home from school, no homework, play video games, dinner in front of video games, bedtime. Weekends would be video game marathons. I told him to get different friends. I've never done facebook. You guys are my social media.

I use Facebook to keep up with family near and far.
Otherwise nope.
Do like Pinterest for quilt patterns, recipes.
You guys are pretty much it socially.
Except on date night.
My near by family don't reach out to call unless they want something.
Or they think I know something they don't.
Even if I did I quit talking to the whole bunch at Thanksgiving.
Have a small group of friends, not one to talk and say absolutely nothing.
I do read books on laptop, tablet, phone.
But also like books that can actually turn the pages.

Sitting in nice warm house drinking coffee.
Strawberry by my side snoring.
Been shoveling snow to clear walkway so she can go out to take care of business.
So far we got 5-7 inches with it still coming down.
Supposed to get foot to foot and half by time it quits tomorrow.
Branches snapping under the weight of the snow.
Thinking pot of soup for supper tonight
May have to get pressure cooker/canner out so I have enough to last the whole weekend.
PS. oldest son yelled this morning for trying to clear the walkway with this new knee.
Knee and I are just find.
But shoveling snow might go better if I had snow shovel. lol...lol

It would be soup for me!

You are getting what we had yesterday, but from what I saw on the news, the further east it goes, the more it will dump. St. Louis is supposed to get the worst of it.
