I picked up a side-by-side at a good price. It should be handy around the property and I'm hoping to loan it to a friend for hunting. I could get some moose meat out of the deal.

OK, I am officially envious. First that you can just loan a gun to a friend (Washington made that a misdemeanor) and second that you get moose venison to boot!
Just kidding, You deserve the best life has to offer. ;)

Sorry SheepDog, not a shotgun but a UTV. If he wanted to borrow a gun he certainly could. I'd loan him anything I possess. It's a few years old but has less than 900 miles on it. I'd like to put a windshield on it.

I took side by side to mean a double barrel shotgun too!

Well, you are still a great guy. If I was closer, I would help you put the windshield on it. It takes a small amount of steel and a nice piece of plexiglass or Lexan. That way you can have it conform to the rig and make it look like it belongs.

@Tank-Girl if you have a local wrecking yard give them a ring to see if they have one or can get a roof rack with the fitting kit for you and ask for a quote. They have what is known as a wreckers hotline and can get one in from all over the country from other wreckers as they have a database they can access. It might be a far cheaper option for you and a lot of the wreckers have a fitting service as well. Likelihood is because you have an older car they will be able to source one for you.

There are some advantages in knowledge I have having been in the trade before myself :) .

Thank you SC.
I was out of ideas.
This is a huge help.

Updating preps here on what we have purchased and added to the freezer recently is -

- 2 x 4lt ice cream, 3 x 500 g frozen blueberries, 1 x 400g frozen passionfruit pulp, 2 x 490g cocktail spring rolls and 2 x 3 kg packs of oranges all on special ranging up to mostly 50% off saving $34.50 on usual prices.
- 4 x 790 g packets of party sausage rolls on half price special saving $14 on usual prices.

Didn't find any "seconds" vegetables at our Kroger store yesterday, they were cleaned out. But they did have frozen mixed veg for 88 cents a bag, so I filled dehydrator with that. Filled incubator with eggs yesterday. They are due about when baby meat turkeys arrive, so it'll be brooder city around here. Started repackaging the stuff I bought at the Amish/menno bulk food store, but still have more to do. Left it all on the kitchen counters so I can do a little each day.

This evening we purchased 6 x above ground 2.4 x .9 m garden beds and a petrol post hole auger to start our garden beds with. This will go a long way to starting our garden beds and all were on special on eBay and we coupled that with discount vouchers currently available to save $66.50 on usual prices. We will need the post hole auger to put in the upright posts for enclosed kangaroo proof structure andchicken wire mesh for the outside walls and roof for over and around the garden beds and will put up 50% shadecloth over the top of that.

We have saved all of our good posts and heavy duty chicken wire and galvanised pipe for the roof framework and drip irrigation piping for watering so there will be no extra cost there.

I look at silver almost everyday. I feel I should buy more but I haven't. I have almost got myself talked into more:)

17.30 per Canadian Maple leaf when ordering 100

https://www.jmbullion.com/canadian-silver-maple-leaf-varied-year/

These have the advantage they are coin not round ( tho I also take rounds when there is a sale and those of course are usually less than a dollar over spot.).

Maple Leafs are usually a full dollar less per coin than Silver Eagles .. yes Silver Eagles are the most high profile but their premium over spot is usually nearly 3 bucks even from JMBullion and I am not willing to pay that for Silver Eagles... Maple Leafs are usually less than 2 dollars over spot when ordered in quantity.

Sometimes JMB has sales for any quantity coins or rounds.

Right now they have Sunshine Morgans for only 79 cents over spot at any quantity with free shipping! These are rounds not coins... but still very good looking..

I just pay the extra and always buy the Silver Eagles. No reason, I just like them.

Just wondering how JMB measured up to APMEX. I have gotten the silver rounds before and they are currently $16.58 with (I believe) around $25 shipping charges if under their $$ limit.

I did not realize how many silver maple leafs there were to choose from, although it looks like their lowest priced one is $17.28 so it looks like JMB and Apmex are pretty similar.

Angie,

I just checked JMB 22 cents lower per coin on an order of 100 Shunshine Silver Buffaloes
( but this is the only category I just checked other may be different)

It certainly pays to shop around. I also check for coupon codes on retailmenot.com before placing a final order, just in case there is a promo deal. I always check shipping charges as well, since that will affect the final cost. It looks like both of the above vendors have free shipping over a $99 order.

Been packaging mashed potato powder and soup mixes all morning (in mylar). Two big tubs worth. Picked up bags of soup mixes at the salvage store in Yoder when we were there, for a buck. Not worth putting my own together for that price. They also had Bear Creek for $1.29.
OK, now I need to go to work. Working late tonight.

It's been awhile since I've posted. Training for my race is sometimes all consuming. My hydroponic set up didn't work as well as we hoped it would. I think it needs more light since the water solution is set up right and the ph is correct. It worked great outside last summer so the system is valid. We found a local dealer who sells the light set up for the tower so instead of jury rigging something we'll just get the correct set up for next year. Then the Great Prepper will be amazed at what I grow. Since Cost Co opened up we've been able to get case and bulk values on our pantry items. That is nice because it helps us to keep rotating the foods we like. My girls are starting to lay again now that the sun is out longer and it's warmer. Attended our local prepper meetup today and had great discussions on everything from chickens to bees and starting plants. Had some good food also. The group is only a year or so old so it's still small but growing. I have a couple friends who might attend the next meeting so that's cool. Just finished up 9 days at BOL. Still a lot of snow on the ground so didn't accomplish much. A little chainsaw work and threw a lot of lead down range. Filled my puppies belly with a few squirrels. Our tracked machine got us in and out just fine. I've had a spotty record with it since we bought it so that was nice.

Hey Caribou what type did you get? We have a Polaris Ranger Crew Cab that we have on tracks. Had some operator errors with it but seems to work well for us.

An Arctic Cat, Prowler with 885 miles on it, snow plow, winch, and cover. I'm the first one to use the plow on snow and it looks like it was stored inside.

I just stocked up on spices. Pepper, cumin, paprika, etc. ( things I can't grow myself)
Bought 45lbs of baking soda. I use it for cleaning and laundry so I use a lot of it
Stocked up on coffee filters
Bought more Vit D3, 5,000IU. that puts me at 3 yrs supply
Also bought more allergy meds. They were double packs so they will last us 2 yrs easy. We don't need them year round
Hubby built me more raised beds. Just have to fill them and then add amendments ( we have crappy dirt here)
I bought a kit to try to grow sprouts. Its something I've been thinking about to add more nutrition to our diet

I need to but more half gallon canning jars for storage
I need to buy more pastas, egg noodles, cornmeal and flour to dry/oven can them

Lots to catch up on since I last posted. A while ago we stocked up on 4.34 kg of minced beef, 4 kg of chicken drumsticks, 6 kg of sausages and 2.5 kg of bacon for the freezer mostly on around half price specials and some slightly reduced. Most recently on the meat front we topped up on 4.3 kg of rump steak at just over a third of usual price per kg for the freezer.

Then came a couple of days ago an order of bulk desiccated coconut, cashews, walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and cocoa powder for just over half the price we were paying in the supermarkets for smaller packets. From another firm bulk citric acid saving around 75% off the price of the supermarkets when buying smaller quantities which we are splitting some with the local RSL club as it is cheaper for them.

For the gardens we purchased a petrol powered post hole auger and not sure if I mentioned previously buying 2 vintage road pick heads, a garden fork head , a post hole crow bar and a trench shovel with handle.

For the fireplace we got a 3 piece fireplace tool kit and a flue cleaning kit too.

Today we topped up on 50% off specials 15 x 425g tinned tuna in spring water,5 boxes breakfast cereal, and 12 tins each of condensed cream of mushroom and chicken tinned soups. From Aldi we increased our storage of 2 more cartons of wet cat food.

In the clothing department this week we have purchased 16 more long sleeved cotton t-shirts for me in varying colours, 5 more long sleeved cotton t-shirts for DH and 1 really good condition army surplus insulated jacket for $10 and a suede leather hat for me new for $10 both from a school fete.

In the kitchen department we purchased a second secondhand breadmaker checked by an electrician for $5 secondhand from a school fete.

Phew I think looking at the list we are making a bit of progress :D and managed to pay both the minimum monthly house payments each month plus in addition the monthly interest we had since getting our mortgage each month too since January.
