Planted (one short row each) of potatoes, sweet potatoes, yellow straight necked squash, butternut squash, okra, snap beans, roma tomatoes, cajun bell peppers, jalapenos. Still need to plant green onions and chives in one and parsley and lettuce in another lick tub. Got it all planted but may get partially washed out Thursday. Was just calling for rain - now heavy rain with wind. Also planted a couple of Japanese plum trees and a few Chinese cherry bushes. Will see what happens. It's not a big garden but my first in about three years.
 
My sweet corn is just coming up. Potatoes, onions, Tomatoes and lettuce all looking good.

We would already be eating squash if gate wasn't left open and rabbits took off about 10 squash. Garden is rabbit proof if gate is closed.
But lots of baby squash on vines so soon we will have more. I put it all up on a table. just in case the rabbit gets lucky again.

Note the jungle coming over the fence. Been fighting it for months now.

I planted my tomato and sweet pepper plants today. I still have the containers on the back deck to get ready for my herbs and some veggies and I have my flower pot on the front porch to do yet which gets some shade loving plants this year

Our okra is finally getting true leaf on it. Hope it produces well. We are late on planting this year so hope Fall is better.
 
Spinach, green onions, radish, broccoli, cauliflower, cantaloupe all coming up. havn't planted yellow squash, zucchini or put tomato and peppers in yet. building new beds for them
 
All the seed from the trail has came up, well 90% or so. Only a few seed haven't germinated yet. They may still yet. The second tray on squash and melons I think was 100% and some of those seed was a few years old. 2-3 at least. I've taken the heat mats away now and even gave the trays 2-3 hours in the sun this afternoon. Some of the melons and such are gonna be ready to plant this week. Some of the other stuff will get transplanted by next weekend and go in the ground in a few weeks.

The lettuce, spinach & arugula is growing great on the front porch. Been eating fresh salads every couple days. Scallions in pots are going in the ground. May keep a few back just for scallions.
 
The drowning rain we've been getting has delayed me planting the marigolds and nasturtiums I plant in with my veggies. Hopefully I can get that done tomorrow since the rain is supposed to be gone

Brought my zucchini starts, rosemary plants and whippersnipper cord along with 4 bags of seedling mix.

My very expensive tomato plants are going very well.
They have had their first trim to remove side suckers and bottom leaves.

Looks like all of you are having good results of this Springs planting.
We have been extra busy this past week. I only come on to listen to youtube musics or news [ if I think I'm feeling too good :D ] while I work inside.

Took yesterday, ones on right on bench " 6 buckets " are hydroponics, others in containers.
Had to open up and rearrange the whole greenhouse now that plants are getting bigger.

My onions are doing well. So is the celery. Its liking all this rain. We had hot weather so the spinach bolted and is now making seed heads. Since its a hybrid I plan on pulling it when it stops raining which it has been doing for for days now. The tomato plants that I put in the large containers are doing well even in all this rain. My pepper plants in a container are starting to set blooms. Cucumber plants are growing but everything needs some sun but looking at the 5 day report we'll be getting "some sun" whatever that means (lol)
 
Yesterday I scored big by finding mugwort and catnip plants at the local nursery.
I got myself a watering can finally.

Lettuce and tomatoes are looking awesome.
Capsicums are a perennial here so I trimmed them back to get rid any disease
and I fed them with chicken manure pellets and epsom salts.
I am going to have to net them if I want unblemished fruit because the
fruit fly and fruit spotting beetles are still really active.

I found kipfler potatoes at the supermarket and I brought 2 kgs to plant
Along with a kilo of organic sebago potatoes and 4 cloves of Australian grown
Garlic to plant out.
The kipfler potatoes were 7 dollars a kilo which is better than paying
9 dollars a kilo for seed potatoes and having them shipped from Tasmania
at the end of my growing season when most suppliers offer their stock.
I have some plain potatoes that have started to sprout so I'll throw them
in to see what happens. Better then throwing them in the bin and wasting them.
 
I planted a couple of large Yukon Gold potatos with a bunch of eyes on each one, in 5 gallon buckets. They have finally broke thru the soil about 10" above the seed taters. Plant stalks are think and everything is looking good. I do water them every couple days really well. Gonna put a small amount of 46-0-0 fertilize on them in the next few days to give them a slight boost.
I found this idea on YouTube thought I'd give it a try. So far so good.
