Its finally spring! We usually start planting on tax day but the mesquite told us to wait. Your risking a frost if the mesquite isnt leafing out. It always knows! Its finally time to plant. We aren't planting a garden this year but I feel like NEED to plant something!

@Terri9630 I don’t have much in the way of a garden this year either but am working the little patch I have and will be seeing what sort of damage I can do in pots. It will be far different than what I’ve had in the past.
PS @Peanut I have never heard a whippoorwill (sp?). This time of year I usually hear the tadpoles chirping indicating spring.

5 whipoor-wils are singing tonight. 3 are a long way off, I can barely make them out. The other two are much closer, maybe 250 yards but they are in heavy timber so even they are slightly muffled.

Went to wally's in the little town last night and the big box store in the big town today looking for plants. I found two plants I couldn't find last year. I got two cayenne pepper plants. Last year I had to settle for jalapeno's. I got a catnip plant as well, best plant in the world for treating infants and toddlers for fever.

Today was a rather easy one and DH put on a load of washing and hung it on the clothesline to dry and we just brought both loads back in. We then made a batch of chocolate brownie mix for the fridge as we had used it all. We use it so often for brownies and chocolate fudge sauce but we halve the amount of brownie mix and double the water in the recipe as we find it is too thick and it works out perfectly as a nice runny sauce then.

Tonight's dinner is spaghetti bolognese.

I am working on resurrecting my old lawn tractor. It has sat for 3 years, after I bought my new mower, and the gas is really bad. All of the fuel lines are like goo on the inside and completely plugged.
I took the tank off and removed all the lines. I need a new gasket and 90° elbow for the tank so that's been ordered. The engine cranks really well and I think it will run after the gas problem is fixed.
Of course it need at least 2 new tires and maybe all 4.
Worse part is I may never get the bad gas smell off my hands.

When I was small, my oldest brother told me the best way to get gas off your hands is to light a match...:D

I've been using shampoo to remove greese oil and gas from my hands since i was a teen.dish soap might do as good if not better seeing how it's made to remoce cooking oil.

Dish soap is what I use for shampoo, hand washing and as a body wash. to get rid of the gasoline mix a bit od tooth paste with dish soap and it will leave your hands clean and smelling fresh.

I use Dawn but I used to use Joy. Both do well with grease and oil and both work in salt water, which may not matter to you. Keep one or the other in any boat to remove the rainbow sheen if you spill fuel.

I use Fast Orange water-less hand cleaner or something similar to get the grease and grit off then wash with Dawn dish soap.
The orange cleaner needs to be used without water for the best results.
Dawn dish soap is what people use to clean oil from birds and wildlife. They used a lot when a tanker runs aground or an offshore oil rig has a disaster.

Everybody is happy but me today.
My budget took big hit.
But my new to me car is legal for at least another 2 years.
Just got to switch out the plates tomorrow.
Will have to figure out if I can squat that long.
Or will have to stand between squats.
Oh well new kind of exercises are in store for me tomorrow.
While I change the plates.
Will have to start saving money for taxes in December for my car.
Been trying to walk further each day, thinking about getting back into walking marathons.
Really enjoyed them last year before surgery and even after surgery once finished pt.
Got 2 of the raised beds planted today, it's a few days early yet, but went ahead and planted.
Got 1 lone green bean up, 4 peppers, 8 onions, 4 tomatoes plants in the raised bed.
Got lettuce up in Strawberry Jar planted there for something different beings I have allegry to Strawberries.
Need to get 5 gallon bucket for potatoes yet, then find some straw.

my budget also took a big hit. not only did we buy the truck and all that goes with it[.insurance ,tag and title] , but i also bought a large roll of freezer paper and a bread machine.
But doesn't it feel good to have realiable transportation.
And not be dependent on everybody else.
To me my car means freedom.
And that I have a chance to make maybe not full but dang good recovery from my injuries from 2009.

yes it does. it means we can take the jeep back to my sister and not have to borrow Paw Paw'

NAPA Auto Parts sells a good cleaner too. It can be used waterless but a little rinsing is better. It has no grit in it but without rinsing it tends to leave a little residue.

I use Goop when I get real greasy and it leaves a lanolin film that I take of with dish soap.
I buy store brand dish soap. It is way less expensive and since I use it by volume it works as well as anything else.
I have even used it to get ball point ink out of cotton shirts.

I use store brand for dishes but Dawn on clothes. It's very good for getting lipstick out of cotton.

Or so I hear...;)

Yesterday we spent more time setting up the RSL club and doing more in preparation for today.

Today we woke up at 4 am and I was medic for the march and club but fortunately there wasn't any incidences apart from one child with suspected heat stress which I worked on but told parents to keep and eye on him and temperature doesn't come down to take him to hospital. DH marched this morning in the Anzac parade along with fellow veterans and it was a really good turn out for the day and we had a lot of great conversations with people. DH was tasked with cooking the afternoon tea on the BBQ for the band and others and did a really good job of it. We also went for morning tea organised by the CWA which was lovely too.

He is now having a nap and I can't see either of us doing a lot this afternoon other than resting and having an early night. We have had so much food to eat all day that neither of us will likely have dinner tonight and unusually I had a cooked breakfast this morning too at the RSL club.

Today is my last day of full time at my office job for a large corporation. I offered to fill in on occasion, but I will be working full time with my husband from here on out :woo hoo:
Lol congrats, but if I would have had to work full time with my (ex) spouse, one or the other of us would be doing 25 to life right now...

Seriously, best of luck! Hope it works out great.
