I still just work out with shovels and dancing around the room. But you guys are doing great with your routines. I'm pushing 70 but I see these women using weights and may try it.

Started training at age 71.

This week was starting to slide into a bad one.. Today just prior to lunch I realzied I hadnt yet worked out once.. I was in the mood for a run (a rarity) and usually I would then take a run because thats what I need more than iron pumps..... BUT If I had run today I would have iron pumped tommorrow which would have give me too little gap to my next full body iron pump..
So I did weights today... the plan being.. run tommorrow and Fri ...and then Sat a nice thorough iron pump w/o time constraints.

This is what I did today during lunch:

3 sets of (assisted) pull ups. Was able to notch down the level of assist by one notch
3 sets of unassisted ( ie "real") dips (10, 8 , 5 reps respectively).. ..When I do dips which are a big deal to me , as I am heavy, I delete the other "push" exercises ( inline bench and military press)
3 sets of standing box jumps ( 40, 33, 30 reps respectively)
2 times planks of 1 min each
2 sets frontal raises
2 sets lateral raises.

There is a reason I post what I do.
I am a moderately overweight male in my 50s who works at a desk.

My programs are doable by many so I hope this inspires at least somoene on here to get more resilient.

Remember..
The Left wants us silenced, disarmed, asset stripped, and ultimately dead.

Dutifully did my run today as planned. It was slower than last time but a bit further.

Good for you Bluez just don't push it too hard.
And thanks for reminding me to get up and move it. I'll put on some music and do a little dance and I do mean little, haha. It is now reps for me not weights.

I think you didnt listen to the entire vid.. :) It gets much more "beat" also the "exercising" cat is hilarious IMO..

LOL, I got to the end this time, yep thats me if I don't watch it. You know when your moving you don't realize what your doing till you stop! :ghostly:Especially with a shovel,:eyeballs: I've learned to go in slow motion still get it done just takes a little longer.:)

This might be a short week again of 3 times exercises instead of 4.. Wedesday weights as posted, Thursday run.. yesterday too busy at work for a lunchtime run.
Today (barely before closing) sqeezed in an iron pump:

3 sets Pull ups (assisted on gravity edge)
3 sets dips (free and unassisted, "proper" dips)
3 sets box jumps (this time a bit higher but fewer reps)
2 sets seated leg press (945 lbs each for 10 reps per set)
2 sets frontal raises
2 sets weighted calf raises.

Barely made it into and out of the shower before getting locked in... so all this in about 28-29 minutes so it doubled as a cardio.

Bluez today I'll attack the tree limbs and vines taking over our fence. I could sure use some of that massive brawn on you guys to drag some of the big tree limbs and some major vine pulling.

I still have a large deep brier vine cut across my calve from last week. Not to speak of all the ones on arms and hands.

Starting the week right, two workouts and this week is only 2 days old. :)

Monday: Run
Tuesday (today) Iron pump.. this was a good one:
3 sets of pull ups ( assisted via gravity edge)
3 sets of free standing dumbell military press
3 sets of standing Box jumps
3 times planking
Edit: also 3 sets of rows
3 sets of incline dumbell bench
3 sets of frontal raises
3 sets of lateral raises
2 sets of weighted calf raises
3 sets of shoulder shrugs.

Tomorrow likely too busy at work to exercise at lunch time
But will hit it again Thursday and onward.

Ok finished this week for now. My 4th workout (an iron pump) so had 2 runds 2 iron pumps.. for a while it looked like I may get in 5 this week but then events took over.

So this week starting well.
Ran on Monday..
Today (Tuesday) was in mood to run and strecthed a bit before the run but as I started runnign i could feel my hamstring go ouch just a little bit.. Not real pain but a warning signal.. I think I overstretched it maybe.. So I pumped Iron instead.
- 3 sets pullups ( gravityedge assisted)
- 3 sets incline bench
- 3 sets seated rows
- 3 planks of 1 min each
- 3 sets frontal raises
- 2 sets lateral raises
- 3 sets shoulder shrugs
- 2 sets weighted calf raises.

No standing jumps because I wasnt confident in my hamstrings today.

I may have to take tomorrow off my right tibula fibula feels a bit inflamed.. weird I havent dont anything with it today.
Still 2 workouts and its only the 2nd day of the week.. the requites additional should not be too hard to get.

Ran today even though it was raining. So am at 3 workjouts for the week ( Wednesday and Thursday work got in the way of working out). Tommorrow a nice long functional resistance weight session

Past week I got a 1000 sets of vine pulling, several hundred sets of log moving and hours of warm up raking vines and trigs.
If pain is gain I got lots of gain this week too. Brier scratches all over my arms and legs and tree limb punctures in my arms. Plus a strained lower back that put a stop to it for past 2 days. But if I stop I may not start back up again, so all is good. Also working in slow motion is a great idea. It still gets done.
But I feel good looking at what we did. I do the heavy lifting since hubby has all kinds of metal in his back .

Training " Logs " is a good description of my workouts, :D

This tree [ thanks to vines ] fell on our fence. I have a hand truck that I put the big logs on the trailer to transport to back field.

Just did my last workout for the week.
Again I got to the gym late (sigh)..
so I reduced itto the most critical workouts that would still load all the muscle groups more or less (shoulder, back, Chest, legs, core)

- 3 sets pulls ups (gravity edge assist)
- 3 sets incline bench (heavy, to near muscle failure)
- 3 sets standing box jumps
- 2 planks ( should have been 3 but i was in a hurry)
- 3 sets deadlifts ( light)
- 3 sets frontal raises

Legs were only hit via the jumps BUT I run twice a week in moderately hilly terrain so I think its ok.
This brings me up to my requisite 4 (2 cardios + 2 full body weights) for the week.

Sounds great Bluez. I miss the hills I grew up in. Here in Florida is all flat torrain', spl.
Keep up the good work outs. It is good fro the mind and body.

3 hours past time to put on the combat gear and head back into the jungle. Back is much better so I can get in some reps today.
Its break time I just did a hour of chopping and pulling and now its rest time but have to get back before noon sun and its 11am now. Just took this pic a few minutes ago.

This morning as I was looking over the work we did and feeling good about a job almost well done reminds me of this old saying " A JOURNEY OF 1000 MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP ". Now us and visitors can park without being under trees.Plus got more fence cleaned of small trees and vines from hell.
A good work out for sure.

OK let's keep this going:

Monday (yesterday) : Run
Tuesday (today):
- 3 sets of pull ups
- 3 sets of standing military dumbell press
- 3 sets of standing box jumps
- 2 times planking (1 min)
- 2 or 3 (I forget) sets of incline dumbbell bench press
- 3 sets of bent over rows
- 2 sets of frontal raises
- 2 sets of lateral raises
- 2 sets of weighted calf raises.

Tomorrow will be no PT due a long day at work.
Rest of the week I can play it by ear since I got myself in a good position for the week by doing half of all my exercises in the first two days.

You be careful. Injury can set you back.

this week: a iron pump on Monday,, a run on Tuesday an iron pump yesterday (friday)
Not sure what if anything, I will do today.. because Saturday is my weights day but for various reasons I had to do weights yesterday.

Good news Bluez. My back is still a little out from vive pulling, but I'm still doing my workouts too. Just slower.

Glad to hear it! :)

so far this week..
felt kinda "off" on Monday.. so dindt do anything.
Tuesday good iron pump..
Wednesday (today) a run.
Tomorrow nothing..
Friday will be run and Sat Iron pump.
even though I been packing on so much muscle and not cutting fat that I am toying with the idea of changing my 4 exercises a week to only 1 iron pump per week (which should be enough to maintain) and 3 runs.

OK its Saturday... work was a bit busier than usual this week.
Still ran twice this week and just got back from a iron pump..:

- 3 sets pull ups ( assisted on gravity edge)
- 3 sets dips
- 3 sets seated rows
- 1.5 sets sit ups
- 3 sets dumbell raises
- 2 sets back extensions

Not as many exercises as i usually do, but I was in a hurry.. did all that in about 30 minutes.
To reach 4 for the week I need to run tomorrow... but i dont really have a habitual route established yet from home.. usually run from work... so I hope I will have the energy for an experiment.

Has anyone heard from Justin? I wonder if he's back in Michigan now and in the guard?

I started up P90X again.....I'm now in my 3rd week. It's been a full 12 years since I did this program the first time. I can't believe it's been that long. Anyways, I haven't been on a program in a while. I exercise 4-5 days per week, just nothing pre-planned. It's mostly Cathe videos. Well, I've been feeling flabby, so it's time to do something about it. P90X is the only program in the past that I got great results with, so I thought I'd suck it up and give it a go. It's a lot harder this time around! But, I'm feeling it work. The boring dread feeling hasn't gotten me yet, which was something I experienced all those years ago. I think my "need" to get the flab off is more powerful than dread at this point. I tweeked my back a few days back, but it's all good now. Man, this gettin' older thing isn't for sissies!

After my crash and burn at my 100 mile race in Feb. I regrouped and decided to keep my weight down a little bit by using a lot of suspension training and high reps on weights. I started training to soon for my 100 mile bike race and my knees have been bothering me a bit so I've dropped out leg workouts in the gym as biking is my priority in the summer. Then my 100 mile race was cancelled so I only have a 60 miler this year as I found out to late to register for the 135 mile race that's down south. Bummer
