Great news @MoBookworm1957 I am so happy that you will be moving sooner and have much better and cheaper accommodation. Good thinking on getting Strawberries shots when they were much cheaper as vet bills are huge here too.

Bummer @Peanut but it was worth a try. We do that here and try and use what we have before purchasing anything too.

Day 2 of not spending any money today.

I saved or earned more money by -
- transferring our savings out of one of the Big 4 banks in Australia into an online bank where we have an account with savings earning an additional .75% annual interest. Don't worry we still have a substantial home emergency cash kitty too.
- 3 days ago I purchased a 48 pk of toilet paper from Aldi saving $22.16 on the price of the same brand item in the large supermarkets. Now just to think about where to store it as we are still setting up our food storage room and need to buy more shelving.
- Claimed a years worth of travel and meal expenses from DVA for all of DH's medical appointments. This should top up our fuel budget nicely for the coming few months and we will also be able to put the residual into savings.

Eggs are cheap this week.

Today we saved money by -

- Buying 6 pks total and 2 each of hamburger buns, dinner rolls and hotdog buns on half price special saving $9.40 on usual prices. We can't make them for this price with electricity so when I see them that cheaply I will take all that I can get. They make for really easy meals for when we are busy.

We saved $??? last night by having hubby cut my hair and me finishing up around the edges. Not sure how much most gals spend on haircuts, styles, colors, fluff and puffs and who knows what else they do, but it cost us nothing.

I do my hubby's when he needs it and I only get my hair cut every 3-5 years. I get it cut to a bob to the top of my shoulders and then I'm good for years lol

Yep! Mee too! But I will say it's only been a year or so. I have thick curly hair and it grows fast. It starts getting long and gets too heavy. I might not mind the Tina Turner do if I had the legs to go with it but I don't.

I buy new eggs every week. The older ones get hard boiled and are good for a quick protein snack or to add to salads.
We save pickle and peperoncinni brine, mix together and add hard boiled eggs. Leave them about a month and hubby has pickled eggs. When I find a good deal on eggs (though I've never found them for 3c) I get a bunch. We eat quite a few also.

My wife buys eggs in the 5 dozen pack from WalMart for $6.12. They seem to last a long time without going bad.
My good deal was buying 5 gallon buckets with lids for $1. each and 4 gallon square buckets with lids for 75 cents. I bought 5 of each and will probably get more next time I'm in that town. A guy can never have too many buckets, even if they do smell like pickles. The 4 gallon ones had mayo and relish in them so they don't need to air out.
They come from a burger place that has been in business since the 40s, the best burgers around.

@LadyLocust DH and I cut each others hair and it saves a fortune. DH has the curliest and thickest hair you ever saw being part Chinese and has 2 hairs coming out of each follicle. He likes a number 4 military type haircut we do with clippers and I currently just have a bob with a fringe although it is near time I have it cut professionally and get it thinned out as I have insanely wavy thick hair. A local lady will wash and cut hair here for $20 which is really cheap as most salons charge $60 - $120.

Day 1 of not spending any money today .

We got our power bill in and are averaging 9.96 KWH per day and the bill has an average of what each persons household uses per number of occupants which is in our area about 14 kwh per day for a 2 person household and we are under what most 1 person households use in power. Our bill was $4.90 dearer than last time as we were using the fireplace fan quite a bit which we only now use rarely and once the house is warm turn it off and the insulation is doing it's job keeping the heat in the house.

Today we saved money by buying a 20 tonne hydraulic petrol powered log splitter. It was $1599 when we first saw it on eBay and tonight we saw it for it for $868.22 which is a huge saving of $730.78. This should make splitting firewood so much quicker and much easier on our backs to from manually splitting it with a firewood splitting ax.

@Sewingcreations15 You will love the wood splitter. Like all machines that make tough jobs easier, it's loud, but the savings on the time and back are remarkable.
@hiwall You crack me up! Did you get several gallons and freeze some? Also, nice yard sale score. What sorts of leather items do you make?
I guess I just saved money today by not going anywhere to spend ito_O

We just purchased a 2.5KW air compressor last night as our little battery powered one gave up the ghost and it only pumped up tyres to 35 PSI. We saved another $235.15 over buying it locally in the stores here.

This will pump up all the tyres on the AWD, trailer and everything we have here efficiently and quickly.

@LadyLocust I am sure we will now just to see how we are going to get it onto the trailer when it is delivered to the post office . We have ramps and furniture removal trolleys but it is going to take some doing. It will save a lot of time.
They are not that heavy and are pretty nimble. They aren't light by any means, but not too bad to move.

Just this and that. I have made many knife sheaths and also sheaths for hatchets and such. I plan on trying to make a holster for a revolver that I put a red dot sight on. Just all busy-work for a retired guy.

Went to the Dollar Tree today and it had products for $2 through ^$6.00. Those have marked prices. Bought (3) $3,00 complete boxed Banquet meals (chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuits) for food storage. Complete kits. Also Spam was $3.00 a can. Got my specials at Krogers: 5 family sized bags of pretzels for 99 cents each, and 1/2 pound cheese for 99 cents each. In their clearance produce, got 4 lb packs of tomatoes for $1. Bought all 5 that they had, so 20 lbs will go in the dehydrator. Bought a simply safe system at Sams Club, and wooden dowels for all the window jams at Lowes. Have windows to work on this week, and getting used to carrying concealed all the time at home. I suspect the druggie will be back. Looking for spike strips for under the windows, or I'll make my own.
