@The Lazy L Isn't it amazing how quickly they can pull down and reapply with the right equipment? Also, the metal roof won't leach all those great chemicals into your soil like the asphalt shingles. Not sure if you do any water catchment but a perk nonetheless.

A steel roof does make future water catchment a possibility ;)

Weedygarden,
Had knee surgery last July.
Haven't moved yet either.
Feel like they are trying to do bait and switch on me.
Moving into that complex will save me $12 a month and I have to give up 1 bedroom, and my fully stocked freezer.
They showed me wonderful apartment, but now they want me to move into apartment a little bit bigger than studio.
Son says take a pass on dinky apartment, wait for section 8.
So he and I are are going to look at other apartments in same complex for size differences.
Got hinky feeling about the bait and switch tactics, no overly happy about it.
Will keep sorting things outs, getting rid of stuff.
The bedroom is so small my full size bed won't fit, let alone dresser.
Good to hear from you. Bait and switch is happening more and more in this world. It is just another way to reel people in to a plan they hadn't wanted or needed.

Roofing Contractor just called...they are done! They worked between showers to get the job done, which I greatly appreciate. He will call the gutter sub-contractor to get me on their schdule. I had walked around the house last evening looking for nails in the yard they had missed, all I found a piece of shingle about 1" square! Impressive! A no fuss, no excuse, professional roofing contractor! He wasn't the lowest quote, his quote was what I felt was the best qualified.

@Grimm Hello there. I realize I don't know you but you mentioned your Roo w/ ADHD. Have you tried a natural/organic low-carb diet. From the sounds of your personal care products, you might have. There is a new movie/documentary out "Secret Ingredients." I've not yet seen it but am interested. You can google the trailer.

Sorry, I didn't see this before.

I aim for a Keto diet for myself and a Paleo for the girls. I try to make all their foods gluten free and low to no sugar. It can be hard when eating at my parents' house or out but I try my best to be consistent with her diet. Lots of fresh whole foods for the kids.

I learned early on in the second half of the school year that a lot of Roo's behavior issues are not food related but are peer pressure. I don't have the issues the public school teachers had because the demon spawn that were her classmates are not in my home pushing her to act out. We just have her 2 year old sister and the fur-kids here at home.

I do use essential oils for helping Roo. I found a recipe for Jeddy's Blend and it helps to the point that Roo will ask for it when she gets worked up. I keep a concentrate of the recipe in a large dropper bottle and a roller bottle mixed with a carrier oil in my purse. When I need to refill the roller I add concentrated drops and fill with the carrier. I also use it in the diffuser during study time and reading time so she can focus. So far so good. Now I just need to train the disrespectful behaviors the hellions at the school taught her out!

@The Innkeeper the thing about that to-do list, if you didn't get to it today, it will all still be there tomorrow. They are pretty predictable that way.
@The Lazy L Good to hear. Will be curious if you can hear those rain showers on the metal roof. What a sound.
@MoBookworm1957 Oy! Maybe mention your cousin Guido from the Broncs and how he doesn't care for swindlers too much (read that with an Italian accent please.) Seriously though, I hope you find the perfect place at the right time.
Helped hubby on two installs today. (Metal railing). I'm whooped.

Monday we ran errands all day. I dropped off the tuition check and paperwork at the proxy school for Roo. Then we went clothing shopping since K ruined another half dozen of my shirts when he did laundry. He left a chapstick in his pocket and washed our clothes together. On the way home we did the grocery shopping.

@Grimm That's awesome! You'll get it worked out. I worked in the education system for about 12 years. Couldn't keep going like it was so found an office job for the past 6+ yrs until just recently began working with hubby. I saw so many diagnosed and undiagnosed children. They typically had hohos and koolaid for meals. One of my son's friends was such a child. If he came over school to spend the night, you could almost watch him calm down as he ate wholesome meals (low to no sugars.) Also kudos to you for taking their education into your own hands. Most parents think it's the responsibility of the school to teach their children (I will refrain from further comment at that.) Consider yourself to have a cheerleader out here rooting for ya.

.

That’s true but they don’t usually make my list until I have already put it off too long already

Went to a tiny mountain lake about 5-6 miles from our house today just for the outing ( my wife loves being around water). The lake is stocked with fish every year. There were many people fishing and catching the little fish. Everyone was very friendly and we talked to several. There were also a pair of bald eagles there and we stayed for awhile just to see if one of them would catch a fish in front of us. They never did :( but is was an enjoyable time.
In the morning I finished the add-on storage loft in the garage. The loft is now 10'x30'. A LOT of storage space. I keep some lumber items on hand at all times and I do store that up there along with a million other things :).

Sounds like a nice day. Wish I could have been there

Yesterday we were driving down a back country gravel road at a very low rate of speed. I look in my rear view and see I am being chased by a very angry bird. I stopped and it stopped beside me. It was a rough grouse hen. It proceeded to try to lure me into the bush with a wounded act. Must have had young near the edge of the road and took me for a predator. Don’t mess with momma.

Today as I was driving down the highway, I saw what I thought was a crow fighting with a smaller bird. They crashed in front of me. The crow flew away and the other little black bird waddled across the highway looking for all the world like a little black duckling. Now I’ve never seen a black duckling* before but that's sure what it looked like. I guess the crow grabbed a young bird but the youngster fought him causing the crash. Any way it was cool to see.

Always drama to be seen if we just have eyes to see it

Started off the morning with DH putting on a load of washing and hanging it on the clothes line to dry. While DH was marking one of the posts for chopping in the kangaroo garden enclosure I used the grey water from the washing machine to water in 2 1/2 garden beds.

We both then got into leveling the posts in the garden enclosure as the slope of the yard made them all different heights. We used the galvanised pipe on the tops with a spirit level and marked the level and marked it with permanent marker and then cut down the front posts so they were level in height. Then we used a flat piece of timber to lay from front to back on the posts and marked a level and chopped them off with the reciprocal saw. The posts are all now completely level and the same height ready for the framework to go up. Don't have a large spirit level well there is always ways to get a level if you think laterally.

Tonight I saw the 20 tonne hydraulic wood splitter we have had our eye on for months come down to almost half price on eBay so I purchased it with money from our bills account. DH will replace the funds with his tax refund cheque and hopefully we can put in our 90 cm oven too with that money. DH's back is getting weaker so splitting by a wood splitting ax is no longer and option and being that it is ironbark hardwood we are cutting I simply bounce off it trying to split it being as small built as what I am and also my back is not taking manual splitting well either. This should last us into old age now and make things quicker, easier and not so taxing on our backs. The wood splitter can also be moved my being towed behind the ride-on lawnmower.

Tonight's dinner was mince stir fry with frozen silver beet and broad beans from our last gardens and tinned green beans and carrots that need cycling through from food storage. We will have enough left for dinner again tomorrow night.

@Spikedriver hopefully you will get a position and not be bumped out altogether.

@MoBookworm1957 I hope that they offer you a decent sized room where you can fit everything otherwise I would just stay where you are and look for something better hopefully.
I'll be fine, for now at least. The powers that be have just put 40 new jobs up and 40 more are supposed to be coming in a couple weeks. I just hate taking somebody else's job - maybe they don't have anywhere else to work? But I have to pay my bills and feed my kid too...

@Spikedriver it is a dog eat dog world and if you can get in then do it. I once took a job from another woman as I was there first so took over the cash register before she got there as they were cutting hours and staff. I too had children at home and was a divorced single Mum and my co-workers said get on the till you need the money more than her as she has no children. It did really make me feel guilty but I kept my job and could pay our bills.

@The Innkeeper ... Good to hear. Will be curious if you can hear those rain showers on the metal roof. ....

Heavy downpour from evening into the night. If you listen close you can hear the rain hitting the roof but the 16" +- of insulation in the attic kills most of the sound.

So much truth, LadyLocust! The children I saw who struggled with focus and the wiggles were the ones who always had the most processed foods. Conversations with parents about concerns for their children often fell on deaf ears.

Good to know, Grimm, that you are working on other ways of helping Roo.

Are there more children with ADD or ADHD? I don't know definitively, but there are more and more children who are challenged with symptoms. Stories, I could tell stories for days about children with issues. Probably the most severe case I saw was a child who was not my student, so I only know pieces that I observed and feedback from his teacher. His family ate lots of Mickey Dees, probably more than any other food, including the free breakfast and lunch at school. He was one of the children who could not focus enough to do any classwork. When he did have medication, he spent a LOT of time at the sink, washing his hands. Sometimes, for children and even adults, medicating for one piece, allows something else to surface.

Our biggest problem at the school right now is a 3 and a half year old boy named Nobah who is over 100 lbs. He has ruled over his mom and 2 yr old sister his whole young life and is horrible. Him throwing chairs today was no fun. Mom brings a big lunch sack full of processed food for his lunch every day. We are debating whether or not he will stay enrolled with us.

That's actually a good thing :). Comforting to know it's taken care of, I bet.

3 years old throwing chairs! I would tell Mom when she teaches her child how to act around other living beings (not just human) then he will be welcomed, until then she can deal with him. I'm a mean one. (Not worth putting the safety of the other children at risk.). I know that's not a fun conversation. The thing is, she probably doesn't like being around him either so is pawning him off for her own sanity. This is making me sound awful but it's the whole reap what you sew thing.

Agree, Lady L, but we are committed to trying, even for a few weeks. It's only been a week or so. The chub was disenrolled from his last place, no surprise. I had one worse than him a few years back, and he turned into a gentlemen. But I've had some that are destined to become criminals, and have disenrolled. We have strict rules. Today we took a different tactic, noticing that he loves negative attention. We ignored him. Every tantrum. Every time he left his classroom. I made sure he was safe, and that was it. He threw himself on the ground outside my office when it was cleanup from freetime, and on to snacktime. Two staff gathered around him to try to get his chub butt up. Didn't work. I looked at him and told him that we had work to do, and if he didn't care about the juicy, fresh pineapple we were serving, then oh well, it would all be gone. He went to eat. He left class afterwards and went to the reading nook area, threw himself on the big pillows, and I didn't even ask him to get up. Just noticed where he was. Loved the look on his face when his teacher said (loudly) that all the hard working students were getting a treat. He didn't get a marshmallow. Oh well. No treasure from the treasure box when it was time to go home, but his sister got two for having such a great day! Saw him sobbing in the lobby. He needs to learn.

Yes I relate @Amish Heart some children are a complete nightmare to look after mainly because the parents let them get away with murder. I had 4 in my nursery class who I classified as more "robust" than the others. One little girl was brought up with technology and an iPad and I banned all technological devices from nursery because all the children would fight over it. She sulked for weeks and threw herself on the floor and crocodile teared. I did the same and said oh we are going to play this really cool game but people who are throwing tantrums won't be included unless of course they get up and behave themselves. The way I eventually stopped her from doing it was I got on the floor and threw a like tantrum with arms and legs flailing. She looked at me with her mouth completely open and was shocked. I said to her well now see how silly that looked and the little girl never threw a tantrum again and was wonderful. My husband was in hysterics as he was my assistant in nursery.

Two boys I had were biters and bit each other perpetually and I had to literally pry their jaws off each other. I worked out that they both loved nursery and it was more of a punishment to take them to their parents and for them to miss out on class. I worked on the lift and separate principle and put myself between them. After a while they were the best of mates and still are now they have gotten older.

Started off the day with DH vacuuming and sweeping the whole house while I cleaned both bathrooms and the toilet. I then put on a load of washing in the washing machine hung it on the clothesline to dry and brought it back inside when dry. DH also put on a loaf of bread in the bread making machine.

We then went to the RSL club for our weekly date day and had a few soft drinks. When we got home we tried to use our battery powered tyre pump to pump our garden cart wheels with and it died. Despite this we still brought up two wheelbarrow loads of firewood to stock up supplies near the home. As the battery powered tyre pumps only go up to 35 PSI we decided to buy a air compressor which had 5 attachments with one for pumping up tyres. This should last a heck of a lot longer and we can pump up even the AWD tyres with it.

Tonight's dinner was the other half of our mince and vegetable stir fry.

I just spent an hour and a half out in the garden weeding and trimming some leaves off the tomato plants so air and sun can get through. Have to have air circulation ya know.
Also have the dehydrator going with some herbs I cut this morning ( greek oregano, flat parsley, strawberry mint, peppermint, marjoram)
Next batch will be my 2 different thymes ( french and english) I use a lot of thyme and oregano
Have some of the floors to clean
Have to change the sheets on the bed and wash the dirty
Need to get a shower before all that, it was a little humid in the garden lol
Need to get a grocery list started and check the store sales online and maybe load some coupons onto my cards
Hubby bought a new easy chair. He only paid $200 for since it was a " tent sale" Big black pleather man chair lol

Its the first day of Summer here. That means after today the days will be getting shorter

At Jury duty on Tuesday, I was dismissed to take DH to doc appt. since he can't hear what they say to him. So that ended that. Went out to lunch to Golden Corral for big salad and baked fish. Very good! Wednesday, I made homemade teriyaki sauce. Replaced the white sugar with stevia and used low sodium soy sauce. Should be a little better and I don't use a lot at a time when a recipe calls for it. Yesterday, I made Yellow Squash bread and butter pickles with bell peppers, onions and jalapenos in them. Canned, not refrigerated, as I don't have the room. Today, doing eBay photos and weeding in the garden.

I'm sleeping so much better and longer now that DH takes care of the goats in the morning and I don't have to get up that early!
