DW wanted her own chainsaw so I got her a Stihl MS181 for Christmas. We spent some time in a woodpile late this afternoon breaking in the saw and I taught her some basic safety and technique for using the saw. This model is small and has a spring assist starter. She can start it easily on her own and she struggles with my MS290. This is her hard at it.

Jumping on for some quick computer time while the kids are going for a drive in the -4 degree weather to look at the neighborhood Christmas lights. We just finished a rousing game of BINGO organized by Nana who always brings a big box of prizes. Before that we consumed about 13# of prime rib and before that we watched It's A Wonderful Life. A fun Christmas for all but I am enjoying a little quiet.

Sitting six miles from my drop t9morrow then it is off to see the kids. Well adults now but still my kids. Then it off to home again. 2° when I left on Thursday and it did not get above freezing until I got to Kentucky.

Got cabin fever today. Haven't been outside since Saturday night. Sooo, I cut down some smallish oaks and cedar and constructed a 6' high platform, 5'x5' at the top to put my ground blind on. Gun season is over at the end of the month and it's bow season only. This will get me above the grasses so I can get a better shot.
That's all I did. Tomorrow I'll go put it up.

Everyones gone home that doesn't live with us, so the house is now almost quiet. The rest of us are tired out. We had a great Christmas celebrating with everyone, and a housefull from Christmas eve on till now. The house is completely trashed and so am I, so I'll deal with it tomorrow. Something simple on tv and a piece of pie before bed, though. I got a manual typewriter for Christmas, and the twins have put down all their fancy toys and are busy taking turns with it. They are totally amazed.

My daughters mom, her parents, and I all went together to get my daughter a laptop for Christmas. They invited me over for Christmas morning to see her open it. It was pretty awkward but nice. Now I'm home and got the place to myself and it's nice and quiet. I think I'll watch a movie then try to rest up to deal with my family's get together in a couple days. Merry Christmas everybody!

Took my son to get a haircut, and eat his favorite street snack.

He loves it, i think its nasty.

I got my first straight razor shave in a long time while he was getting his hair cut.
Forgot how close those things can get.

leftover, roast ham, cheese, salad and toasted bread for dinner

We have some family leaving this morning, others this afternoon. We have lots of leftovers to eat up and goodie trays to pack up (don't want that stuff here anymore). Plus the house could use a little cleaning and we will have some bedding and towels to launder. We had a wonderful Christmas but hopefully by tomorrow things will return to normal in the Sentry18 household.

Brrr, it's cold outside. About 15° and that's going to be the high for the next 9 days. :(

I need to go out to the shop and start handling all the liquids. The shop normally stays above freezing from ground heat but I don't think that's going to work this week. Need to get the liquids out of there and into an area that won't freeze.

Cant believe I am admitting this but it is 10:30 and I am still in my jammies! Just straightening up from a fun filled day yesterday and relaxing, if I can do that. Might get a walk in today after it warms up a bit.
First post on this site, not an exciting one.

It's the day after Christmas you should be in your pj's. Welcome to the forum.

Fixing to take off and take the youngest in for her neurologist apt. It was 70 yesterday and it's supposed to be 69 today. Almost a heat wave!! Y'all northerners don't freeze, stay by the fire.

-16 this morning, had to go start my Tahoe to make sure it would. There is nothing like the sting of cold air on your face to make you appreciate your furnace! 69 is touch warm for me however, unless I want to go swimming or something.

The same here,I'll take this -4 windchill over 69 degrees any day.

Saturday. Morning worked on copying files from the old computer (Vista) to the new computer (Apple). Afternoon Christmas with the in-laws.
Sunday. Early service with the children providing a music program before the Pastor's sermon. Then met friends at restaurant for lunch. Afternoon nap. Watched a few TV westerns.
Monday. Facetime with the grand-kids. Christmas with mom for a few hours until she grew too tired. Afternoon nap. Finished copying files over to the new computer.

Went to Walmart today to get my glasses and found that they made the bifocals the same as the distance part. On purpose? I can't read at all with them, barely make out letters. I was so disappointed as they were already a week and a half late and I was getting excited to get them. That'll teach me! Doc won't re-open until Thurs. so then I can start the waiting process again.

Other than that, laundry day is progressing and I may take down some decorations.

I went to work this morning and about noon my 9 year old called me up and told me that he had saved enough money to make a major purchase! He said he finally had enough after Christmas to buy the 410 shotgun he wanted. I went home picked him up and off to town we went. I purchased the gun for him and he had enough left over for a box of shells. We went back home and made a big circle around the place and no game was stirring so when we got back to our house he shot the hell out of a frozen pumpkin left over from the fall decorations. I spent the rest of the evening freezing my butt off sitting in a deer stand.
