Mom didn’t get moved to the rehab facility today. Her doctor saw something he didn’t like during rounds, unsure what that was. The move has been put off at least 2 days. I was up early, about 6. Dads place was quiet. I thought he was sleeping. I was getting everything out to make him breakfast when I heard a table saw start up in the shop. Oh Goody! Obviously he was feeling much better. He refused to let me take him to see a doctor.

I did talk him into staying home until after lunch so I could keep an eye on him. Early afternoon he went down to the hospital to sit with mom. I went to the little town for errands then installed a new threshold under my front door when I got home.

About 10pm I was doing some mopping when I heard a couple of vehicles come up the drive. Dad got sick again, same symptoms, my nephew brought him home and grtnephew followed in dad’s car. I think dad’s chronic UTI issue is a kidney stone issue… tomorrow will tell. He’s resting now, wouldn’t let me fix him a late supper. His low fever is the culprit (100.2).

Me… I’m just tired. Maybe tomorrow with be a better day.

Hang on @Peanut .

Today , staying in...feeding the stove with lots of firewood.

Made it home from Wisconsin. Strangely, it was warmer up there than it is at home - it's 11° here. The back roads have some icy patches too, but not that bad.

Winter still sucks though. It's not supposed to be this cold, AOC and Co. told me so. I'm almost looking forward to going to Cali, where it's warm, for work this winter, except that the schedule has us going to Oakland. After spending most of the winter in East L.A. last year, I was hoping for somewhere nice this time around...

In the wee hours of this morning the “Maybe tomorrow with be a better day” lasted for about an hour… I got about 30 minutes of sleep, then…

The highlights… dad called in extreme pain still running a low-grade fever. Took me over an hour to get him dressed and drive to the er in the big town in the middle of last night’s ice storm… after xrays, blood and urine tests he was given a shot of Toradol which helped take the edge off his pain and eased his fever a bit.

Instead of keeping him over night they sent us on our way… 60 miles to pick up his two new prescriptions. It was still 1.5 hours until the pharmacy opened so I got us a sausage & egg biscuit... Dad finally ate a little. One prescription was messed up, couldn’t be filled the way it was written but they did fill the antibiotic then back home and I got dad to bed.

Around noon I slept for an hour or so. Dad called, in agony again… I drove back to the pharmacy to get the prescription for his pain. Turned out to be Flexeril. When I got home he was in so much pain I couldn’t get him out of a chair. He literally screamed.

I dialed 911 and got an ambulance out here, took him to the little town. Where, as it happened, my mom was finally moved to late this afternoon.

These people are keeping him until they get a handle on his pain and infection. He’s now in a room across the hall from my mom’s room, handy. At least there has been 1 highlight in the last 24 hours.

Me, I’ve had 3 naps for a total 2.5hours of sleep in last 42 hours. I’m going to bed, to tired to even care if tomorrow is a better day! ;)

Yesterday we spent most of the day helping out an elderly friend who paid someone to remove some trees. They did some and left most of the trees strewn across the yard half cut up. We cut about 1 tree with our chainsaw and tidied up all the smaller limbs in one pile. Still 2 trees to cut down and smaller branches to cut up. Got home and were pretty much cactus and unloaded the trailer of the firewood we filled it up with as the lady said we were welcome to the firewood for helping her. In the evening I ordered a fortnight's worth of groceries using a 10 % off promotion with the supermarket and another 5% off with our e-gift card and picked up a few specials as well.

In the afternoon I did some banking and transferred money to bills accounts, savings and an extra payment off our mortgage too.

Today we were supposed to go there again but DH pulled up sore so we rang and will start again tomorrow. We did get on two loads of washing , hung it on the clothes line to dry and brought it back in. I then trench composted the fruit and vegetable scraps into a garden bed and watered the vegetable patch by putting on the drip irrigation system and hand watered the potted fruit trees and herbs. DH put on a loaf of bread in the bread making machine.

This afternoon a fuse has blown in our power box and we can't replace it as it has to be replaced by and electrician. The fuse operates 3/4's of the home's power points but good news is the lounge room and kitchen power points work along with our water pumps and the fridge and freezers have been plugged into another working power point. Time for the electrician to be called out again.

Tonight's dinner was sausage, egg and bacon sandwiches and dessert was ice cream.

I hope your parents improve today, Peanut, and you get some sleep.
Same happened with the elderly neighbor across our way....hired people to do her yard, lots of weed and brush. She paid in advance, and they did half of it. The twins and the neighbor girls went over and finished it up for her.
Getting a number of teeth drilled today. I really dislike the dentist.

Well, I’ve had 9hrs sleep and feel better, could have slept all day but needed to get up and get clothes in the wash… I can’t call dad and ask where his stuff is at. He doesn’t have his hearing aids and can't hear on the phone and I don’t know where they are.

Mom is feeling better this morning. She was fussing at me about the pants “I let him wear” on the first ER visit. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that’s the same ones I put on him for the second trip as well (jeez, he’s a grown man and wears what he wants). And how did she know which pants he had on? We never saw her on the first trip, she was sleeping. o_O

Anyway, time to get busy. :)

Cold outside today, made a batch of peanut butter fudge. Since I found the latest recipe, I've been making more. Quick and easy.

sorry but that was funny and made me laugh :D

What I am doing today - forgive me please, but I'm going to say a four letter word "Work." Shame on me :)
Have been on the road the last 2 days so today playing catch up. My desk is beginning to reappear so thought I'd pop in here for a min.
Mods!!! Ban this poster for using that word in here!!!

Prayers goin up for you Peanut, for you and your family. Try and rest as much as you can.

Amish, My prayers are with you as well. I'd rather do about anything besides go to the dentist.

Today was another day at work. Did get a call from a contractor I had out Monday to do some roof repair for me. With my back like it is my roofing days are over. But his quote was only $800. I was expecting 1000-1500, so I'm happy with that. Be nice to get that took care of before winter hits hard.
Wife had her trip to dentist today as well. She had 4 wisdom teeth that shes been putting off getting taken out, but it's about as long as she can wait. Her surgery is scheduled for Dec 10th, so please keep her in your prayers. By the time she was finished with the exam, the front desk had already filed with the insurance and found out after insurance the cost will be less than $400.

Home now... clothes in the wash. It's after dark so the horses didn't get an extra bucket of sweet feed, not to worry, they have plenty of hay. Dog got fed, dad's kitten can wait until morning. Have to check on the chickens early.

Folks okay, mom seems improved, dad holding his own. He got a CT, a MRI and a series of x-rays today. Doc probably already has the reports. We won't hear the details until tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes... Life gets bumpy sometimes... ;)

We went to cut some more firewood from our friends yard and then DH realised his chainsaw chain was blunt and his back not so good so we just piled all the wood that we can cut that is a decent size in one pile and all the smaller branches in another pile. That in itself makes it look neater. We then loaded the trailer up with the wood that had been cut and came home. DH put his battery on charge so he can sharpen the chainsaw tomorrow morning and we will start again on Saturday.

After isolating everything that could make the fuse trip in the power box we found it is the sump pump that has given way and we need to have it replaced. The power points now all work after we turned that off so it will likely be about a $500 bill from a plumber to have it replaced. Now it will just be a matter of when they can come out to do it and if they can't come shortly then we will have to start baling some water out of there to lower the water level until it can be fixed. Oh well the gardens and fruit trees need some water anyway  and that is what we put away emergency kitty money for amongst other things .

A lady from a couple of doors up rang and was looking for a cleaner for her home and wondered if I knew anyone in the suburb that cleaned houses and could do it and I said "no" but "I can" and she asked how much and I quoted her a pretty low price per hour compared to what most professional cleaners would charge as I know they don't have a lot of money but need help. I am going there tomorrow afternoon to see what needs doing and plan what I need to take in cleaning products. A friend told me to contact her from church and I happened to run into her at the RSL club instead. It will be good to earn a bit of extra income in the home to put towards projects we have planned.

Tonight DH washed the dishes, cleaned the benches and I wiped the dishes and put them away. Then I ordered two of each of the chainsaw recoil chainsaw starters as our large chainsaw one is not working anymore so now we will have spares. Bit of an expensive time with everything breaking down but there was enough in the gardening budget for his with a bit left over as we hadn't used that money in a while.

Tonight's dinner was burritos and dessert ice cream.

Good morning,
Sun shining temps above freezing, had my 6 eggs, added 8 oz of milk, the B-150 complex done.
20 minutes of heat to bad knee to promote vascularity in that knee (helps healing)
Daily exercises done.

Countdown to new knee is 6 days,
I'll miss Thanksgiving, but be up for Christmas.

Gotta clean filters on both air purifier units.

Do lunch.

Great day,

Jim
