There are numerous cameras all over prisons and military facilities.
Guess can't video them while sleeping just don't know why so many men are being raped . A kid cango t ojail for minor offense and come out ruined for life or even infected. A civilized nation should be able to protect its innocent till proven guilty and even more so it hero's.

Barracks are housing. Do you want a stranger watching cameras in your home?

This is true guess they can't video but something needs to be done about this abuse.

Not sure what that has to do with prisons where everyone has been found guilty, but there is deviance in every subsection of society and there are victims of that deviance in every subsection of society. Video cameras don't protect people, they merely record events to deter offenders, reduce liability, and for evidentiary purposes.

The prison stuff = totally true. Remember, they are in there because they have been convicted and are being punished.

The military stuff - bogus. And I'll tell you why.
Washington Times said:
"If the survey of male combat veterans is accurate, it could mean the U.S. armed forces are dealing with an epidemic of male-on-male sex crimes.
This is one of those things where they ignore the most important fact in order to make a story.
Let's say you're thinking about raping one of your fellow soldiers.
You know tomorrow, he'll be toting an M16 with mags of live ammo:eek:.
This is the exact opposite of prison where there is no way to escape, no defense, and no means of retribution.
Do you really think he's gonna get raped?
M16 'accidents' happen all the time.

I hope your correct and many of the stories re made up.
Thing about prisons is much of it could be stopped. I thought our laws said cruel and unusual punishment was barbaric and illegal? Guess not if a kid deserves to be brutally raped and good chance infected with deadly disease when he or she pays for his crime.

We have cameras everywhere so why not in these places?
There are probably lots of cameras, but the recordings are not made public. They are used to monitor in prison activity. Prison is not meant to be a pleasant place, but not sure that it should be as cruel as it is. It is the low lifes of society together where the alpha's know how to get over on the weaker ones. If you ever see any movies about prison, fictionalized or real, you will see that even women's prisons there are alpha's who have a lot of power over the weaker ones.

Military? Places like the Air Force Academy do have rape, probably both male on male and male on female. Senior members have lots of power over junior members. What does a junior member do when a senior member calls them to their office or room? They had better respond or they will have problems. And when they do respond, they have problems. It is a no win for newer recruits.

I fully understand this fact. But it should not be ignored much less just accepted as the norm. I can also understand how you losing any feelings for criminals when you have seen the worst out of so many in your career.

It's not the norm because I accept it or have feelings about it either way, it's the norm because the cultures within those prisons (or military units) have accepted it. The same way the catholic church accepted pedophile priests and the way the inner city urban dwellers have accepted violence. You can't live and exist outside of those cultures and understand why things happen there the way they do.

Didja see the movie "Full Metal Jacket"?

Trying to sweep the military up in with guys in prison so each prisoner can have their own penthouse doesn't work.
If you don't want to get gang-banged, don't commit violent felonies and stay out of prison.

Well, I have never been even remotely close to being sent there. I have not seen that movie. It sounds violent and that would be why I have never seen it.

I wasn't meaning you Sentry, God knows you have no control anymore than I do.
What I need to do is STOP this digging up bones and bad news. It doesn't help any of us and why do it. Good advice in the good book about what kinds of thigns to dwell on or think on.

Very good advice about the stay out of prison. In a age like this the punishment doesn't always fit the crime, but thats the way it is.

If he's going to commit suicide, he better be getting after it.
He's not heading to the Hillary Hilton, and he's got a lot of new boyfriends anxiously awaiting his arrival:green man:

Given that he was maybe 21 and had a caregiver, I would like to know the rest of his story. My guess is that he is mentally ill, so he will get placed in a facility that is more able to deal with that.

The story said he is a 22 yr old who had fled religious persecution in Indonesia to make a new life in the United States.

I guess the poor old guy took in a refugee and was beaten to death for his troubles.

No, it was the 61-yo caregiver that was a refugee:
"His caregiver, Harsono Harsono, was 61.....Harsono had fled religious persecution in Indonesia to make a new life in the United States, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Brian Eckhardt.“He chose a life of service, and he did nothing but try to help the defendant,” he said. “Instead of gratitude, he received a brutal beating.
And if the BG had been mentally ill, he wouldn't have received a "prison" sentence.

Thank you.
The caregiver had fled religious persecution in Indonesia, not the 22 year old. He was probably a young person who has had ongoing issues.

I have had more than one person who couldn't get it together want to come live in my house. Nope!
