As of right now my DW and I are watching a herd of elk that are above our home eating the tender grass that's been growing, what a blessing to see such healthy large animals, it's only been since the forest fire of 2013 that we have ever had elk so close, my wife was singing "Home, home on the range." for a few lines. I tried to get some pics but it's getting dark and the camera flash was spooking the elk. I'll work on the pics to see if I can get them cleared up enough to download here.

The fires clear the brush, thins the trees and allows the grass to grow for the larger wild life. I was trying to explain that to one of my neighbors who came over to complain about fire fighters not putting out wild fires fast enough and also didn't like that we were clearing the seedy scrub brush from our land.

Meerkat,
Stand tall you got this.
Jim,
Back away from the salt shaker.
Terri,
Hope your kid gets the medical care she needs.
Prayers for all that need them in this troubling time.

Thanks Mo. She has a good set of Dr's now. Our biggest issue was getting Dr's (other than our primary) that actually believed there was something wrong.

Sitting here with knees elevated, no ice as of yet.
Sipping coffee.
City trucks have been by my place twice in last 30 minutes.
Once going down the grade which was pleasant to watch them try to stop.
Once going up the grade, trying to find traction to get up the grade.
No school again, Mother Nature must be P'O'd at my area of Missouri.
We have freezing rain, snow showers coming down.
Not going anywhere today.
Have first Physical Therapy appointment at local county hospital tomorrow afternoon.
Local transportation company is taking me.
I trust my driving, just not the idiots driving around me.
Already walked this morning for a while around the apartment.
So ready for Spring, so I can get to training for first 5k in March.
Was at VA yesterday, people were dropping of 350 crocheted an knitted blankets for Veterans for Christmas 2020.
Lady said this was the first installment of 1000 blankets.
They weren't sure they were going to meet their goal of a 1000 blankets.
Their members were getting too old and they were loosing members due to sickness and deaths.
I understand that scene perfectly.

But that is annoying after a 13 hr drive. Hope you can get in tomorrow, Spike.
Little granddaughter came home sick from school, horrible cough. She's miserable. Have an appt for her in the morning. Sounds like bronchitis. No wheeze, though, checked with a stethoscope. Started her on albuterol in the nebulizer. She needs an antibiotic, though, I'm sure. Realized I didn't have any liquid fever reducer. We all swallow pills here. I'll have to stock up on liquid stuff tomorrow. Turned down dinner. Her mama called her and made her upset. I asked her what she said, and she said mom was upset that she was sick and she wasn't here. Not sure what to think of that, since mom was usually falling down drunk. But it made granddaughter cry, and she doesn't need that right now. Twins went to bed early and both madder than heck. Report cards came in the mail today, and granddaughter needs work on her geometry, and grandson needs to study more in French. Both were irritated that we were irritated. Neither, of course, ever bring home homework, and never have to study for tests. Hmmm.

One of my daughters adopted her two grandsons [ our greatgrands ] one at birth other also infant. She goes thru same thing when they visit thier mother. They are 8 and 12 years old now.
I told her to stop feeding the resentment, let em have their time of sadness and then get over it. Sounds mean but these kids will bring it up all day just to get their way. She is over protcctive of them and they are brats who need some tough love. IMO she is raising a couple of victims . Causes conflict for all involved. Got so bad one time I told her I'd whip their ass then hers if she didn't like it. I hear now they are doing better last couple of years .

A great many people do not understand the value of occasional fires.

@Meerkat so sorry to hear about your stroke and that your eyesight won't return :huggs:. I am glad they are sending you for further tests and admitting you to stabilise your condition.

@phideaux follow doctors orders and be good :huggs:.

@Bacpacker glad you are feeling a get better :huggs:.

@Spikedriver hope they sort out the mess with your door lock and you can get in and out of your apartment :) .

:Thankyou: Sewing. :huggs:. . Still have cataracts but dr said thats not whats causing the visions problem 'yet' they are'nt that bad or ready for surgery.

Also surprising is that this eye dr. told me to sta involed in my medical conditions.. Most of them don't like thatat all. One even tried to thow me out of Urgent care ER.:eyeballs:. She was really bossy and said I been watching too much YT I told her maybe she nded to go there and get imformed, she said " I'm done with YOU" so I yelled at her as she took off " I'll take the Xray" too late she was too upset. But the one running the place told me to sta and see another dr..
You uhave to be careful some are under lots of stress and new age training.:dunno:

I thought this was yours Viking,

As has been mentioned these are not our locals, this looks like much higher country and they look like Rocky Mountain Elk, still tasty and wholesome. The Roosevelt Elk tend to be at much lower elevations and can be seen occasionally walking on the beaches here in Oregon, they are amazing creatures and are really stunning when you see a huge rack on the big bulls, I've seen antlers that if you put the fingers of one hand around their stumps, you wouldn't come close to touching your fingers together.

Viking I've never seen an elk or huge deer either. But I can imagine how magnifiscent they are up close.

Got back home today...I've got cold water but no hot water. Looks like the plumber will need to come back again.
Do you have your own H2O heater? He might have shut the exit valve. Bugger! A hot shower and comfortable bed while your home is kinda expected. Hope they get it fixed soon.

There's one water heater for the building and it's working. The business below has a bathroom on the North end and a kitchenette on the south. The kitchenette has hot water, their bathroom and my apartment do not. Strangely, when I open up the hot water in my faucets a trickle of cold water runs. Not sure why...

Gremlins. . . . Yep, that's it. I'm pretty sure. That will be $200 please - heehee. (Really, I'm sorry. We were without water for 4 days. Not fun.)

Took granddaughter to the doc today, and she's got the flu. Bad, bad cough and some fever. Said to keep her on the nebulizer, and gave her a cough suppressant. She'll be home from school tomorrow, too.
Got an email from her California caseworker, saying that the guardianship will be final next week. No need to send her back this week. I wasn't planning on it.

Another quiet day here, just a touch of fever still. I got the kitchen cleaned up and the old stove clean enough to carry out of here. All that’s left is shut off the gas and disconnect the line when the new stove gets here.

I did take the time to clean and mop the kitchen floor. I also took photos of the flooring. If the delivery guys scratch up my new hardwood flooring, I’ll have photos taken the night before and posted on the net. Nothing like date and time stamps to verify when something got damaged as well as the extent. Hopefully my photos won’t be needed.

@Meerkat : I stumbled through the thread here, didn't know about your loss of vision being associated with having had a stroke. Very sorry, girlfriend.
:huggs:no smiles here though.

@MoBookworm1957 you are the boss! Glad your son was able to save some of the pork, etc. I understand a little about new inlaws that might not know how to cook real well...YET. I pass recipes on to them.
@Peanut steady......

Glad you are feeling a lot better @Peanut and a really nice hardwood floor you have there :) .

Sorry your granddaughter is sick @Amish Heart she will be in our prayers. It sounds like it is a nasty strain going on hearing how sick everyone else has been :( . Glad she doesn't have to go back to the foster home and can stay with you permanently now.

Started off early in the morning moving everything away from the walls in the home so the pest controller could spray. DH washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and I wiped them and put them away before the pest guy got here.

He sprayed all of the inside of the home, the ceiling cavity and also did all the ants nests in the yard and the outside of the home too. He doesn't charge much so we got value for money and can't see an ant in sight tonight which is good as they all bite the horrid little and big things. He will come back on Tuesday to blast the ants nests in the yard a second time to make sure they are gone for good.

This afternoon I dug another trench around the mandarin tree and put what little mulch was there back again and watered it some more with saved rainwater but we will have to mulch up some more ironbark for chips to put more around them to keep the moisture in the soil. DH potted up 3 apple trees in larger pots and the mandarin tree is in a larger pot now too and watered them in and mulched them but forgot the fertiliser so he will have to do that tomorrow.

So hot and humid today that is about all we managed to do and I set the drip irrigation system off to water the vegetable gardens. Tonight's dinner was homemade pancakes, cream and or olive oil spread, homemade strawberry jam and golden syrup.

Biting my tongue. Over two years ago I manually copied her contact list from the Visa PC to the new iMac.

This morning she’s in tears because she “needs” to send a mass email this morning and “it” will not let her.

“It” I learn is the old PC. I also learn that she has continued to update contacts on the old OC and hasn’t on the iMac.

A quick test confirms the iMac can send emails with zero problems. I remind her that I had her contacts current on the iMac two years ago and I’m not willing to do it again. I showed how she could do it and I’ve been sitting in a chair for two hours giving her technical instruction when asked.

Good for you. Yesterday I made the decision to get back on track and start eating properly again, no more late-night crackers and milk. This morning I put on my sneakers and as soon as I finish checking on you all I am hitting the treadmill.
Update
I finished my 30 minutes on the treadmill.
