Wow, this is an awesome thread! You, GO, gumpy!
Thanks. I've built several houses but this is only the second one for us. This one is fun cause there's no pressure! (Cept from the bank) lol

Gumpy, you are making good progress! I know you have your work cut out for you.
It is a lot of work but it's very enjoyable.

Can't wait to see what your kitchen looks like.
Neither can my wife! Ha! We are getting tired of camper life.

Those blocks for the shed are filled with concrete to keep them together. You really should consider doing the same for your foundation. You need to have tie-down bolts from the foundation to the cap and sill plates anyway. The tie-downs have to be no further apart than four feet so you will need to put concrete fill in every third block at least. I used 32 inches as my minimum distance - just cause I don't trust minimum specs on anything.

Insulate the bathroom and common bedroom walls for sound deading. We have a half bath on the main floor for guests. You can hear just about everything that goes on (or out) in there, wish I had insulated the walls...
That's what I did as well as making it a double stud wall which made plenty of room for plumbing and electrical, it made the wall nearly impervious to sound. With all of the water around I'm sure you're also going to install very good drainage all around as well, that's a problem I have, I get water coming up everywhere when the soil get supersaturated from heavy rains, I have a lot of gravel and slotted drain pipe all around the outside of the footings as well as visqueen and sand/gravel holding it down under all of our decking, so the soil stays dry further out from the footing/stemwalls.

The corner 3 blocks in each direction are poured. That with the reinforcement wire every other run I think will be sufficient. Specially being built on a boulder!

I like that idea! Thanks.

We'll well well! The sawmill called this morning and they've got our lumber gathered up, finally. They "accidentally" sold it and had to go get it back! I kinda pitched a fit. The yard foreman told me today(he was in on my small tirade) that he'd never seen anyone that mad, chewing someone out, without cussing. I just told him Christians don't have to resort to that, and invited his family to church. There is a reason for everything that happens in our life. I don't believe in coincidences!
Anyway, back to the lumber. I called the trucking company and they will go and get it Monday!
Yeehaaaah! I'll be throwing up lumber on those block by Tuesday!

Gump,
It's suppose to be warm this coming week....after all the rain gets outta here.

Jim
It's pouring outside here! Plus all the runoff from Kentucky, East Tennessee, and my home state of Alabama! It's weird living on the Tennessee River where it goes North and South!

Here it is, @ 1530, 1/2 of the lumber is here on the ground! The other load will be here in about an hour. The man's big ol back hoe/fork lift can't pick up a full stack of this undressed lumber. What a mess. The mud is about 2' deep!

Being mad affects only yourself. That is why, a long time ago, I decied that getting mad did no good at all.
I decided getting even was much better!:dancingcows: I'm such a kidder... I'm just a big teddy bear. (seriously, ask my wife:switch:right after her discipline.

Sung to the tune, "Pants on the Ground";
Lumbers on the ground,
Lumbers on the ground,
Everybody's dancin
Cause the
Lumbers on the ground!
Nailin up boards tomorrow!

About that slow, too. I'm tired and sore. Been going since 0300. It is now 1940 and I'm laying in bed.
Pictures tomorrow.
Stay tuned!

@gumpy well done on going off without one swear word in sight, truth be known I am known for that too :) and we are human and loose it sometimes too. Hey Jesus flooded the whole earth because he was angry :D .

Praise God for the faithful remnants, such as Noah's family!
God was punishing man's sin and falling away from him. God is so perfect he can't tolerate sin. It's only through his grace, through the blood of Christ, that he can tolerate us. "We are as filthy rags in his sight"!

I haven't gotten started yet. After we got the last load unloaded from the semi, I was helping the guy who owns the truck clean off the trailer and put away his straps. My boots were muddy, believe it or not, and I slipped off. Instead of falling I jumped and jammed my spine. By 9:00 PM I was in the E R with one of the worst sciatica attack I've ever had. I'm laying here looking at piled up lumber and can't nail a nail!
Ya know, it's time to go over plans with God and see if I'm doing things as I should! He knows the future while it's hard for me to remember last year! Lol!
I'll hobble out and get some pictures today. Its some beautiful Southern Pine Lumber!

Just a thought! We're supposed to get another 5-8 inches of rain Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Maybe I'm supposed to build an ark! Lol

Without it we are nothing!
Y'all have a blessed day!

That's new to me @Peanut ! I'll have to read up on it. After I had spine fusion in 2011 I've been plagued with problems. I'm so tired of surviving on pain medication just to get by. I take supplements and vitamins daily but can't tell if they help.

@Dutchs ! How are ya man. I've been missing you!
I'm very good Gump...Thanks for asking. Been busy as a one armed Paper hanger and actually enjoying life regardless of long hours of work. I've done many gratifying things lately. I really enjoy watching your progress so I make sure to check in here as often as time allows. It's just so cool to me that you are doing your own build. I am praying for ya every day your health and back hold out and I'm sorry but it aggravated me to see the wood set back but as usual everything worked out! Keep rocking bro!

CBD oil, Gumpy, no side effects, all legal. After a few days I can feel the relief in my back. ( arthritis, 32 years of nursing, etc). My daughter has a client who has been able to come off much of his pain meds. I think he has had fusions, too.
