Well... After trying the big city life for a grand 4 months, we've finally decided to get our homestead up and running. We're married with several kiddos. We're looking to do a simple, low tech small house and grow produce, goats, rabbits and a variety of other hand made products including high end rustic light fixtures and decor (wintertime).
We're moving to land that's been in the family for generations. It's where I grew up. My wife and I are public school teachers by trade, but we just can't do it anymore. We'll finish out this school year and be full-time in May.
I look forward to learning from you guys.

Welcome from the northern Cumberland plateau neighbor! Hit me up on PM if you care to, don't mind sharing what I know and we could literally be neighbors depending on where you are at.

Hello and welcome to here! There are lots of well-seasoned homesteaders here... No, wait. that sounds like I'm eyeing them up for my stew pot or something; let me reword that so I don't scare half the membership here. (Folks here know that I am Cajun, and Cajuns eat just about anything that don't eat them first.)

There are lots of experienced homesteaders who are super friendly and would love to give you input on any questions you may have.

We are all looking forward to reading your posts and to get to know you!

Welcome from north of the 49th. As you are probably discovering there are some great folks and some real wisdom here. I am sort off a seasonal regular. I don't get here much for about five months of the year due to the nature of our business. I do really enjoy it when I get to pull up a stump and set for a while
