Finished my first Friday fun day. 30 mins. on stepmill w a pack, full body trx workout. Weighted farmers carries with a backpack then pulling a sled. Power wheel core and chest wok finished off with odd pullups in Ninja warrior room. Later rode my bike to the lodge for some Angry Orchard, that sure hit the spot.:p

Odd pull-ups in the Ninja warrior room? Not sure I want to know, but. . . how odd?

This week was yet another slow week due to living out of hotels..
only 3 exercises. one swim and 2 Iron pumps. The Irons pumps were fully body and reasonably intense though..

Just did a swim last nite at the Hotel to start off the week. I am traveling next 1.5 days and when I get to where i am going I will likely be jetlagged so more workouts will be hard this week.. Getting in a workout early in the week makes it possible i can still get in a decent number for the week under these conditions..

I am flying out tonite but the flight is later in the day so I may yet manage another workout before i check in... even though I already handed in my rental car last nite. Maybe I can get the hotel shuttle to drive me to Golds even though its outside of their normal driving range...

I'll explain as best I can. First 2 sets are chin-ups hanging from small baseball sized balls hanging from hooks. Next 2 are from handles that look similar to nunchaku handles. The next 2 sets are finger tips from railings hanging from the wall which are similar to doorframes. The last set is from a flying saucer type disc hanging from a hook. I raise my legs until my body is parallel to the floor then pull up almost like a row. Hope that helps. It may have made it as clear as mud also I guess.

Update: Nothing as hardcore as Jim... But am moderately proud that despite jetlag and living out of hotel o far this week I am at 3 workouts (2 cardios and 1 iron pump) and there is still pleny of time left in the week to add another 1 or 2 exercises

this seems more like Jim territory then me. At my peak I could have done some of these things but only a small fraction.

My muscles still repond very well to training but my joints cant handle the heavy repeat training needed to get to a very high level... and when i train hard they are the limiting factor rather to strenght growth for me.

It is so amazing to me what people can do with their body strength. Hard core.
It reminded me of you, @BlueZ , that thing about people that want to kill me. Considering who our LEO and military are up against, some are very motivated to work hard at being as strong as they can.

Friday stepmill workout 121 floors in 30 mins with a pack, farmers carry with a pack and puling sled added 15 lbs to sled. Added pack to my power wheel workout. The rest was the same. Thursday night was treadmill workout 1 1/2 hrs at 15% incline. workouts are coming together for my Feb. 100 m race.

@musketjim
@BlueZ
Do you mean like this?

My horizontal pull ups are with my back to the floor and body parallel when I pull myself up. The ballistic movements on the video are insane, I can do a couple push ups with my powerwheel like that but don't think my elbows and shoulders can handle a lot of those at my age. Those side hanging things where they're walking look awesome. Have to see if there's a place in the gym where I can attempt those. Thanks for the awesome motivational video. Maybe I can convince the wife to video tape my Friday fun day so I can explain by showing.

Cut my runs short this week due to cold. Had 2 runs of 9 miles at -39 and 1 treadmill 8 mile run a little faster than race pace. I think that after my race this year I'll switch over to TRX workouts only just to see what happens. My shoulder and elbow are bothering me a bit now.

Musketjim, I suspect that it's ligaments and tendons that are the limits-to-growth after maturity, Probably they gain in pliability some, but otherwise there's only one way for them to go.

Went to the Sears close out sale today and picked up a climbing machine similar to the one Drago used in Rocky IV. I figure if a pinko commie can do that so can I. Good 4 1/2 hrs on treadmill this morning at 15% before breakfast. Next week bump up to 50 miles, with a little bit of TRX

going to the Gym right now.. work, travel and a light work related (not exercise related) injury have made my work outs lighter and less frequent in past 3 months.. But I still do what I can.
Why?

Because Every day, men who will follow orders to kill you, exercise, Do you?

Mostly just the gun arm.

Ok lets get this inspirational thread back up:

Last week I was slacking this week so far:
Monday: An actual Run not just ruckmarch. 3 miles
Wednesday: Gym
-stretch
- 3 sets of standing jumps of 35, 30 then 25 reps
- 4 sets of (assisted) pullups
- 2 sets dumbell military press
- 3 sets incline dumbell press
- 2 sets frontal raises
- 2 sets lateral raises

This is fewer exercises than normal but the standing jumps had gassed me quite a bit.
Thursday (Today) : Run, 4 miles
Friday: Not sure.. maybe a run maybe nothing..

Saturday will be Gym for sure and a long orgy of gym since i have time and am not limited by lunch hour. Different location. This will include a good core work out thats not so easily done at the gym closest to my work ( no Roman chair or sit up bars on the walls here)

just FYI: I am in my 50s.... But there is a storm coming so no rest for the weary.... The left wants you disarmed, silenced, asset-stripped, and ultimately, dead.
So get ready.

Did that iron pump today.

It was aclose call. I was hyped around 10 am.. listening to the music i posted on here elsewhere.... then I got to reading and suddenly it was 1:30 pm (in my time zone).. gym closes at 3 today and its a 18 min drive...
So I tried to rationalize that I could "just" work out tommorrow... but the iron pump today fitted better into my exercise plan because i have an iron pump scheduled for tuesday and since I do full body I feel I need at least a couple of days in between since i always hit the same muscle groups ( all of them or nearly so)
In the end i made onto the exercise floor at 2:08

- 3 sets of Pullups ( assisted)
- 3 sets of dips ( UN assisted)
- 2 sets of situps
- 3 sets of bent over rows
- 2 sets of frontal raises
- 2 sets of lateral raises
- 2 sets of back extensions

The back extensions really smoked me I tried to start another exercise (weighted calf raises) but was too gassed since i had been doing these in moderately rapid succession to make the closing time.
Also unassisted dips are no joke for a man my age/weight and I do those when I am in a hurry since I usually dont feel I need to do any other "push" exercises after dips.

I might go back tommorrow for legs and more core

Ran today even though I wasnt in the mood and it was chilly :)

Pumped Iron on Wednesday and ran today.. so I am at 3 workouts for the week now with 3 days left in the week so getting to my minimum of 4 seems assured.

Just did my 4th workout for the week.
- Pull ups ( assisted)
- Free standing Dumbell military press
- Incline bench press
- Seated machine rows
- Sit ups
- frontal dumbell raises
- lateral dumbell raises
-back extensions on roman chair

No Squats since my cardio has been progressing in recent months from walks to ruck marches to runs and now hill runs... seeing that I am doing hill runs i figure I go skip squats most of the time.. and I dont want my legs to get too thick either (they are pretty robust at this point)

Ok, are we still doing this?

Anyway here is my update.. This week so far (early Sunday morning) only 3 exercises due to work demands but i am optimistic I still can squeeze in a run today.
Iron pump Tuesday, A run Wednesday an Iron pump Saturday ( yesterday)
I got to the Gym a bit closer to closing than I like to... so I pushed my speed, yesterday:

3 sets of pull ups
3 sets of squats (but I am counting the warm up one w/o the weights)
3 sets of bent over rows
2 sets of incline dumbell press
3 sets of standing jumps
2 sets of frontal raises

All this in 25 minutes.(!)

(As I was in a hurry to make closing time, I skipped the military press which would have come after the squats and before the rows and the lateral raises which would have come either after the frontal raises or bricked with them.. even so,... doing all these in rapid succession definitely seemed to add a cardio component)

Went running today ( Monday) to get the week started off with my least favorite exercise so to put one "in the bank" for the week.
Now I only need 1 more run and 2 whole body iron pumps to have a successful week.

It was cold and I dindt feel like it.. Went anyway...

Tuesday. Had more time than usual:

- 5 sets of (assisted on gravity Edge) pullups
- 3 sets of standing jumps
- 2 sets of dumbell overhead military press
- 3 sets of planks
- 3 sets of flutter kicks
- 2 sets of bent over rows
- 2 sets of incline bench press
- 5 sets of weighted calf raises (except last set was unweighted)

Been awhile, got pounded by a bad winter storm running my 100 mile race and had to scratch at the 63 mile point. It really hammered us back of the packers. This should have been number 9 for me on my way to a plaque for my 10th. 4 months of training down the tubes. Oh well better luck next year. In the gym I'm doing a lot more TRX workouts trying to keep my slimmed down physique. Normally after my race it's back to heavy powerlifting style workouts. I'm getting ready for the ultra bike season and need to get slimmer than I was during last season. It's hard to get used to after more than 30 years of bodybuilding/powerlifting. I try to avoid mirrors.:( A real blow to my ego. Riding my fat bike to work 3-4 days a week, about 10 miles mixed terrain. 1 or 2 days on training bikes in the gym chasing watts. I bought a climbing machine similar the one Drago used in Rocky 4 and it's a nice change of pace. I'm starting to get a nice little home gym going quite by accident.:D

PS: Closed last week with 2 runs and 2 full body functional fitness iron pumps

My bodyweight workouts with my suspension straps are going very well, doing various exercises I didn't think I would be able to accomplish. I'm adapting to my lighter bodyweight this year. I'm about 10 lbs lighter now by dropping out the heavy powerlifts. Weightlifting has always kept my weight up, so I'm dropping down to a more natural weight for bicycling. Still waiting for the weather to warm up to get my road bike down.

This week I only got in 3 workouts.

The first one was great:

5 sets pullups (assisted)
2 sets military press
3 sets standing box jumps
2 sets incline bench
2 sets seated rows
2 or 3 planks
2 sets frontal raises
2 sets lateral raises
2 sets shoulder shrugs

Friday a good run

Today a hurried workout since i got to the gym late

3 sets pullups
3 sets dips
3 sets standing box jumps
2 sets bent over rows
2 sets shoulder shurgs

But since I did all that in 25 minutes (!) It added a cardio element.
I dont feel as quite as "pumped" tonite as I usually do though .

This week was starting to slide into a bad one.. Today just prior to lunch I realzied I hadnt yet worked out once.. I was in the mood for a run (a rarity) and usually I would then take a run because thats what I need more than iron pumps..... BUT If I had run today I would have iron pumped tommorrow which would have give me too little gap to my next full body iron pump..
So I did weights today... the plan being.. run tommorrow and Fri ...and then Sat a nice thorough iron pump w/o time constraints.

This is what I did today during lunch:

3 sets of (assisted) pull ups. Was able to notch down the level of assist by one notch
3 sets of unassisted ( ie "real") dips (10, 8 , 5 reps respectively).. ..When I do dips which are a big deal to me , as I am heavy, I delete the other "push" exercises ( inline bench and military press)
3 sets of standing box jumps ( 40, 33, 30 reps respectively)
2 times planks of 1 min each
2 sets frontal raises
2 sets lateral raises.

There is a reason I post what I do.
I am a moderately overweight male in my 50s who works at a desk.

My programs are doable by many so I hope this inspires at least somoene on here to get more resilient.

Remember..
The Left wants us silenced, disarmed, asset stripped, and ultimately dead.
