We were going to go to one but it rained last week. So maybe next week.
Last time we went to one was in 1990s when we took the grandkids, first one they ever been to.
It was Twin Starlight in Atlanta Ga., but now it has several screens which, imo messed it up.

There was a White Alice site about a mile from my house that we called the drive-in due to the size and shape of the antenna. when they tried to dismantle the site the region wouldn't let them as the dish was the first thing you saw flying in from the villages and it was a landmark in the otherwise flat tundra. It's been close to 60 years since I went to a real drive-in.

Used to go all the time until the closest one closed in 2012. Now, it's just a spooky graveyard of a once proud icon in the PNW...

The last drive in I went to was showing Easy Rider.
My girlfriend, now wife and I never saw the ending.
The owner knocked on my window and told me I my mom called him and I had to go to work.
I was smudging apples at the time.
This was in 1970.
I only know of 1 drive in still operating and it's 5 hours away.

Maybe google Drive In's in your state ? I was surprised we had 3 or 4 here in Florida .
The one I want to go to is one hour away. So I figure we get home at about 1 am.

Seems drive in's are coming back ,maybe one in your area too.

I prefered drive ins to theaters, at least you mostly could ignore the other people at a drive in. I don't even go to a movie theater anymore, it's a lot more relaxing to me to get the DVD and watch at home.

Maybe try one out soon if one near you. I figure it is just another way to get out of the house and do somethign different without spending too much money or being up close to strangers.

I did research and read comments on the movie we are going to and nothing but good reviews.

I saw my first movie at a drive- in...not sure what year it was, but it was a second run showing of Star Wars. Probably 1978. I don't think I've been to a drive-in since then. Normal small town theaters are struggling enough as it is, let alone drive-ins. I think the closest drive-in is 80 miles away, and to be honest I'm just not going to make that drive for a movie...

Mass shootings not so much a thing in drive-ins, but I don't have good memories from it.
There is one about an hour away, but if I'm going to enjoy anything outside at night I think it'll be a campfire, hot tub, and stargazing.

We went last night to the drive in. It was 150 mile round trip. But a nice dive and we got out of the woods for awhile.
It was a good experience EXCEPT for the movie's was full of agendas, even the Grinch was. But worse was the ' Instant Family '. IMO it was sickening. And the 'based ' on a true story is also a lie.
Its impossible to find a decent movie now that is clean, non violent or pushing agendas.
But we did have a nice time just gettign out for awhile,so all wasn't wasted.

We had a drive in in the city I worked as a police officer. We were always called to wake up the couples when they failed to leave after the end of the last movie. That was always an interesting view.

I also remember those who almost put themselves to sleep permanently from carbon dioxide poisoning by leaving their cars running for heat.
When I was expecting the kids I use to like to stop at the Catfish King restaurant for a dozen of hushpuppies to eat while watching the shows. They had the best hushpuppies .
