Yesterday we cleaned up the rumpus room, DH vacuumed the whole house and I mopped it for the week. Also we folded up 2 loads of clean washing and put it away and remade the bed with fresh sheets. We took a load of cardboard boxes to the tip and dropped them off in the Endeavour plastic bins (they are a charity that work with disabled teens and adults to find them work), we thought it would be better for them to have it because of the good work they do for the community. We also took our old vacuum cleaner that had had it and the old TV antenna to the tip, our friend replaced it with a new one for us.

This morning round 1 is that DH stain removed some clothing, put on a load of washing and hung it on the clothes line to dry. While the load was going I was watering the canna and calla lilies, spider plants and one of the mandarin trees in the side paddock as the water filled each grey water watering can. We are in drought here so every bit of water counts to water something rather than using town water as we are on severe water restrictions here and our tank water is valuable.

I then filled up all the hand washing bottles and teeth cleaning of water and the bucket of water for washing our hands in during the day from the 25 lt water pot with tap that DH filled that we have for filling our water bottles, kettle and vegetable washing water.

Our neighbour just dropped off about 2.8 kg of cherry tomatoes, 4 cucumbers, some chinese egg plant and some string beans for us as she is overrun with them, how beautiful of her. We have organised to mow her lawn and do spraying for her in her yard as a thank you for the veges for just the cost of the spray and fuel (being $10), as she doesn't have a lawnmower or sprayer or car either. Sad story her husband died and the family walked in and took almost everything she owned as well as the house but her husband bought a block of land and organised a house to be built for her before he passed. Apart from that she is on her own and is from Thailand and speaks little English. She is a lovely lady and about our age so we will look after and out for her. After all what do good neighbours do.

DH has been making a coat and wet weather gear hanging rack on the walls from timber and varnish we had and some coat hooks we purchased. So far he has planed the ends and put on the first coat of varnish and is waiting to do the second coat this afternoon.

I have just finished washing all the tomatoes and sorted the ripe from unripe and have them drying on teatowels. When drained I will freeze the ripe ones on a tray in the freezer and portion them into meal sized portions. The unripe ones will go into a bowl to ripen and I will do the same with those.

I've used my concealed carry and driver's license somewhere I needed 2 ids. No problem at all. I figured that shows my background has been checked, so they don't have to worry as much.
You would think so. NM said it didn't qualify as an "official" document to prove residency.

Sitting at the DMV for the 2nd time today. I didn't have my marriage certificate. WHY I need that to renew my license I don't know. I already have a NM license, they've already seen all the paperwork..... Oh, my insurance card qualifies as proof of residence but my concealed carry permit doesn't????? Its a state issued license that required a background check to get......
Most states will issue a carry permit to a resident of another state. When Iowa was a "may issue" state, sheriffs could refuse to issue in their own county. I knew people who got out of state permits, because Iowa law would recognize a permit from any other state. So, a NM permit might not necessarily qualify as proof of residence...

Round 2 of today is I got one tray of ripe tomatoes on a baking tray with baking paper and into the freezer and unripe tomatoes in a bowl ripening. DH got the second coat of varnish on our coat/hat rack he is making.

I cleaned the bathroom and toilet for the week and tonight we have done our scripture study for another week, although we do read in between times.

Mine is a little different.

2 Cups Sugar 1 Cup Butter Crisco
3 Eggs 1 Cup Buttermilk
1 Tsp. Baking Soda 2 Tsp. Vanilla
4 - 4 1/2 Cups Flour

Mix sugar & Crisco.
Add vanilla
Beat 3 eggs & the baking soda with buttermilk.
Add flour alternately with milk mixture.

Bake at 350 for 9 - 10 mins
Thank you. The finished product, minus the pink icing looks very similar.

My guess is that there is lots of use of other people's identification in New Mexico. There certainly is in Colorado. It was a pain in the behind for you to have to go retrieve it, but ultimately, it is one way to protect you from illegal behavior.

I have told this story before on a forum, probably PS. My daughter turned 14, and got a job at a ministry working with inner city youth. She now received pay checks, but had no identification. Off we went to the local DMV to get an identification card for her. When we arrived there were two lines outside the building, with LEOs in charge. People were shuttled into two lines, probably suspected legal Americans and suspected those who were there using fake identifications. We went in very quickly after arriving, no waiting in line really.

Inside, daughter took a number and waited to be called. While waiting, at some point soon in the process, we heard some man's name called. No response. In a minute or so, he was called again. No response. In another minute or two, his name was called again. He was two rows in front of us and he put up his hands, as if to respond, "Oh, that is me." Back he goes to get his photo taken for his i.d. He comes out, sits down, and waits for his i.d. to get printed with his photo on it. In a little bit, the whole process of his name being called goes through a similar scenario. He did not respond to the name being called because it was probably NOT his name, but a name he was assuming on an identification so he could get work and a paycheck.

My guess, Terri, is that there are going to be more and more finer details checked to help against using fake identifications. My experiences in NM, especially around Las Cruces, show that that is a prime spot for illegals to be who have crossed over into the U.S. i know someone who lives close to the border in Texas. So much stealing and break-ins.

Yes, a real pain, but ultimately an attempt to prevent identity theft.

21 degrees yesterday morning, enough of that, I'll take some snow, at least in the surrounding mountains. Had a very good report from my cardiologist yesterday, he had a nice smile on his face, I'd guess he probably doesn't always get good results for some of his other patients. I'm certainly thankful to God for getting better from the CHF (conjunctive heart failure) that I had early last year, that really shot down getting anything done, pretty much for the whole year. Maybe I can get the solar array set up as soon as the ground thaws out.

I'm glad too Viking. :heart::thumbs:

Mine cost me about $300 in fees and BS from 3 states. Welcome to 1940s Germany.

Weedy sweety I have to respectfully disagree.
Not for illegals here. They are treated like royalty at the places here. While we sheep wait can spend weeks just trying to get out " PAPERS READY " these ilegals don't even need an ID at all.
They come in from China, Africa, S.America, India ,etc, etc, etc.
We sat and listened to several languages while waiting to see what other demands they had for me to get license. Most speaking loudly. A very RUDE awakening!

Today just light cleaning and working on garden area. Looking online for dock in St Augustine to put in boat.

I never cared for icing on cookies. I sprinkle colored sugar on them for a bit of contrast.
It is all a family tradition, remembering a deceased grandmother, who always iced her cookies with pink icing. And it is the grandmother of my daughter's boyfriend. He made several batches of them, and there are a few left. They look so similar to your, minus the sprinkles, but with the icing.

Went to two grocery stores today and they were slammed packed like a hurricane was happening. Took forever to find parking. Maybe no one ventured out around here with the snow still on the ground from Tuesday. Took forever to shop. But our Kroger store had their case lots sale going on and I can't pass that up. Also went to Sprouts for fresh fruit and veg. Now back to unpacking and getting the house in order.

I continued my cleaning in the shed.
We have stuff in there that my Mom stored 25 years ago and stuff we stored 12 years ago.
If it been there that long and not used or even missed then it is not needed.
I made one trip with my trailer to the dump yesterday and I will have to go again soon.
I have a big pile of dishes, blankets, and clothing I need to donate to some place.
I am looking for a church or hospice. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the rolls and rolls of upholstery material.
Mom had an upholstery business.
I can actually get around in there now and all of my wife's Christmas decorations neatly stacked and out of the way for the year.

Cleaning the house(living room first) from top to bottom.
Took down cobwebs that were threatening to hang son.
Dusted light fixtures in living room on the ceiling, table lamps, floor lamp.
Dusted door frames, window sill.
Moved grand daughter's little pink kitchen so I could get into pie safe.
Put away all Christmas decorations but 4 little Christmas trees about 6 inch tall.
Moved youngest son's and daughter in law Christmas gifts off to corner.
Put tabletop Christmas tree back on the shelf in closet.
Took the metal end table back outside on the patio/porch.
Making Spring chore list: old fashion Metal chair will need repainted, maybe red and white this year.
Metal end table will be painted black or red.
Ran the vacuum in the living room.
Changed out curtains those were dusty, but they had been hanging for 3 months.
Time for change.
Dusted the mini blinds
Watered the plants, didn't kill them yet.
Moved grand daughter's rocking chair in front window.
Emptied out old magazine rack, refilled it with her little books.
Emptied the little bookcase by my recliner, refilled it with my books, puzzle books, found the current phone book.
Strawberry bout wore herself out this morning, barking at her shadow.
Decided this morning I was tired of the clutter in my living room.
If I could paint I would have today.

Swept the house, cooked chicken thighs in the fancy new pressure cooker--then ordered cookbook specifically for this pressure cooker since I'm still not sure what I'm doing. Sure turned out good! And the cooker was free. Strange how I have pressure canned for years, but this little cooker intimidates me a little. So many buttons! LOL Otherwise haven't done too much at all today.

Supposed to be 70 degrees tomorrow, so I have outside plans after Church. A little pruning, fertilizing and hanging out with the goats and pups!

It has my home address on it. The same one that is on my license that was going to expire next week but also didn't count as proof of residency. Why even put an address on them if they can't be used?

True. NM gives illegals licenses. How do they get them without all the paperwork.....

Stealing other people's documents. There are people who DEAL in this, getting documents for illegals to use to assume identities.

I know someone who was born in California, and moved to Colorado. Somehow, she didn't have her California birth certificate, and they would not mail it to her. She had to go and pick it up. I was really surprised, but can't you just see ordering a birth certificate for Jane Doe, having it sent to your address. Now you have the birth certificate, AND an envelope addressed to Jane Doe that is one way to show residence.

This is probably going to eventually be one of the reasons the government is going to try to chip people, mark of the beast.

Usual sunday.
Made breakfast now have hubby's work clothes to wash and dry.
I'm making bean soup with rivvels for supper today.
Hubby can't get the Deuce and Half to start so a fella he knows is coming out later to see if he can get it going
Weird weather this week coming. 50's then 30's then 50's then 30's. Up and down. Extended forecast says by the middle of the month we'll be staying in the 30's. You know...like winter... lol

Working on kitchen cabinets.
Empting them out rearranging put some items back.
Hopefully most will hit the trash can.
Working on tote underneath Estelle's high chair.
Now that she and Strawberry have discovered they can climb on it and look over the table top.
Time to empty it, put it away in the closet.
Cleaning out the cookbook cabinet.
Hopefully will have enough room for one shelf of single stacked cookbooks.
Bottom shelf for baking dishes.
Got a crockpot of beans going, will make cornbread to go with them.
Maybe a fried potato in bacon grease.
Cleaning the oven.
Steam mopping the floor.
Resting right now. Drinking coffee.

Yesterday was reading scriptures and doing our lessons in the morning, sorted out our budget now that 2.4 home loan payments came out for the fortnight instead of one and a bit of rearranging and all is good. We paid it thinking the bank had stuffed up the direct deposit and then it came out the next morning or almost overnight.

DH made a double batch of magic mix white sauce premix for the fridge and we both made a huge batch of yummy chocolate brownies for our treats for the week. DH also finished the coat hat rack he was making and hung it up and it looks fabulous with the lovely gloss varnish he put on it that we had. Coats are now hung on it as well as our work hats we are using.
