Some of my orders from last week arrived this morning. One was a media storage cabinet for all my dvd’s and cd’s. This one is a little larger than my old one but that isn’t why I’m replacing it. I spent the afternoon putting it together, still not finished.

This past year I’ve been replacing items in my home to lessen housekeeping chores.

My old media cabinet didn’t have doors, only shelves. I had to pull out every single item to dust the tops of the dvd cases, then put them all back in, a weekly chore, about an hour.

My new cabinet has glass doors. 10 seconds with a duster once a week, a quick wipe with pledge and glass cleaner once a month. It should save me 3 hours every month.

My fluke meter came in also but not my new leads and the case so I didn’t bother with it.

Yesterday we got a call from the real estate agent that the lawns at our rental needed mowing and then we could fill in the bond form to get our bond back. We went in and did it and filled out the relevant forms and our bond refund should be in our account by the end of the week hopefully. Got home and pretty much did nothing other than wash and dry the dishes and put them away. I did a few listings on eBay using a free listing and final auction value fee promotion and last night's dinner was pan seared cod given to us by our neighbour and salad.

This morning I stain removed the clothing in DH's load of washing and put it on and ran the grey water to our potted ornamental plants and the mandarin tree in the side paddock. Being in drought the poor trees are looking a little sad and thirsty. I then stain removed some clothing and put my load of washing on and did the same with the grey water and DH came in and hung his load on the clothes line and then I hung mine. While I was doing the loads of washing DH was weed spraying the whole property and next door too.

Sitting here in the heat of the day relaxing in front of the fan and later we will make a cheesecake and quiche for dinner and I will do some more free listings on eBay.

Going to go clean off the last of the snow off my car.
Finish shoveling slush and ice from around said car.
Going to Wal*Mart to pick up snow shovel, potatoes, COFFEE.
Weather forecast for the next few days: Snow.
Soup is gone, oh so good.
One bowl left.
Maybe goulash for supper tonight.
Having Subway while at Wal*Mart have coupon that will make meal deal half price.
Tonight is date night.
Have to decide what to cook for tomorrow have Estelle.
Maybe quiche cooked in oven in muffin tins with whatever vegetables need used up.

Having Subway while at Wal*Mart

The Subway was ripped out of our Walmart between the beginning of Jan and yesterday. Just a hole and the original Walmart tables and chairs left.??? Oh well!

Today I've done darn little besides eBay photos and drafts, make phone calls and revamp lists. Slow day.

I finish putting my media cabinet together. I was impressed by it. Assemble yourself furniture has come a long ways since the last time I bought something like this, about 18 years. Everything lined up perfectly, all the predrilled holes for hinge screws and handles were spot on.

It actually looks better than this photo, I was getting a lot of glare for some reason.

Here are two much better pics taken with my camera instead of my phone. The top, base and door frames are real wood. The finish on the composite wood is great. Its a very good match for my oak furniture.

And yes I used a few pieces of raw 2x4 to raise my tv just a little.

I go to the Eye Doctor about every 8 to 10 years. Figure I'll get an update then. I'm not a worrier and what will be will be. I'll deal with it when they start to affect my vision.

I just went to eye doc last month. He said I have cataracs but also have 20/20 vision and doesn't want to possibly mess up my vision with surgery. His exact words.
My friend just had her cataracs removed and one eye is giving her lots of trouble for past 3 months. She is still glad because she couldn't hardly see at all.
Just be sure you get a good doc to do the surgery.

Last of our mail orders should arrive today. Seeds from new place 'SeedsNSuch' and hydro fertilizers from Morgan Seeds . The shipping was terrible on the 8Lbs. of fertilizer, 13.95!!:ghostly:But it will more than pay for itself in produce. Best we ever tried for hydroponics, Master Blend tomato .

Great job on the media cabinet @Peanut .

Nice cabinet.
A lot of assemble yourself furniture is CNC manufactured so everything should line up.
When I bought a new TV I didn't even connect our DVD or VHS player to it.
With smart TVs and streaming video we never used either one.
I may put the DVD player in the motor home so my wife can watch movies at night when we camp.
I just have to ask. Why did you need to raise the TV with blocks?

Yesterday we decided to have some down time and did things in the house. We folded and put away 2 loads of clean washing and DH washed the dishes, cleaned the benches and I dried and put away the dishes. I then tried to do an online grocery order for 7 days in advance but it only had 6 so will try again today. We enacted the severe heat prepping item yesterday and filled up our collapsible rain water tank to use as a pool. Council regulations say to have a pool you must have a paid licence and have a pool inspected once a year. With a rain water tank with a lid you don't have to go through all that rigmarole and it passes council regs of being covered with the water over 30cm in depth. We climbed in it and luxuriated in it for about half an hour to cool down,oh what bliss :), it was 37 oc yesterday.

After cooling off we made a quiche lorraine or our version of with bacon, cream, eggs given to us, free silverbeet we had from our cottage gardens in the freezer and cherry tomatoes given to us by a neighbour for a low cost meal for 2 days for us which we will have cold for dinner with salad. We then made a batch of brownie pre mix for the fridge as that was low.

Last night's dinner was quiche and dessert was 1/3 between us of the homemade cheesecake.

Round 1 of today is DH is off doing a paid job of spraying for weeds at the local RSL club while it is nice and cool. I am just sitting here blogging and will do some weekly house cleaning shortly.

I ran chainsaw all day. Bought 10 acres a couple years ago. It is half wooded. Surveyor had marked the corners with tposts. I called him to mark the line so I can run fence. He wanted $500. That price is too much for marking one line that he already marked the corners on. So I'm clearing brush and woods so I can run a string between tposts. Then I'll build the fence so I can move horses onto it.
