Pls no cannibus, I already am taking CBD oil with only fair results. I have to be off of my NSAIDS because of the increased bleeding time. I'm headed to surgery for a heel spur hopefully very soon.
I'm trying "golden milk" right now. It's a blend of turmeric, ginger and cinnamon with milk.
CBD is th only part of the hemp plant that is legal here, anyway.

What I know to be anti-inflammatory is what you don't or shouldn't eat. Evidently, eating these foods causes inflammation. I edited out the paragraphs after each heading.

http://www.eatthis.com/foods-that-cause-inflammation/

1 Sugar
Bet you could’ve guessed this one.

2 Vegetable-Oil
Common Culprits: Mayonnaise, salad dressings, barbecue sauce, crackers, bread, potato chips

3. Fried Foods
Common Culprits: Fried foods like french fries, fried chicken, fish sticks, chicken tenders, onion rings

4 Refined Flour
Common Culprits: Pizza, white bread, crackers, pasta, pretzels, flour tortillas, breakfast cereals, bagels
Refined wheat flours have been stripped of their slow-digesting fiber and nutrients, which means your body can break down the foods made from this ingredient very quickly. The more quickly your body digests glucose-containing foods, like these carbs, the faster your blood sugar levels can spike, which also spikes your insulin levels—a compound associated with a pro-inflammatory response. A Journal of Nutrition study found that a diet high in refined grains showed a greater concentration of the inflammatory marker, PAI-1, in the blood. On the other hand, a diet rich in whole grains resulted in a lower concentration of the same marker as well as one of the most well-known inflammatory biomarkers, C-reactive protein (CRP). Find out more about these detrimental starches in our exclusive report, The 22 Worst Carbs in America.

5 Dairy
Common Culprits: Milk, soft cheeses, yogurt, butter

6 Artificial Sweeteners
Common Culprits: No-sugar-added products, no-calorie “Diet” soft drinks

7 Artificial Additives
Common Culprits: Breakfast cereals, processed foods containing fruit, candy, ice cream

8 Saturated Fats
Common Culprits: Burgers, pizza, candy, chips

9 Conventional Grain-Fed Meats
Common Culprits: Beef, chicken, pork

10 Processed Meats
Common Culprits: Bacon, hot dogs, bologna, sausage, jerky

11 Gluten from Store-Bought Bread
Common Culprits: Store-bought bread made from refined, white flour

12 A Second Round of Alcohol
Common Culprits: Beer, wine, and liquors

13 Trans Fat Foods
Common Culprits: Margarine/shortening; baked goods like doughnuts, cookies, and muffins; non-dairy coffee creamers; frozen pizza; frosting

14 Fast Food
Common Culprits: You know…

I drink 100% tart cherry juice mixed with splash of seltzer water. Controls my inflammation and got me off Celebrex.
I try to avoid sugar and tart cherry juice can be a challenge. I like the idea of adding some seltzer water. I will have to give that a try.

A cousin of mine has arthritis and has for years. A couple years ago, her doctor recommended the Mediterranean diet. She told me she has been off her medication ever since.

Eating keto is naturally very anti-inflammatory (as basically outlined in Weedy's post). While not eating inflammatory foods is very helpful there are also many foods that are naturally anti-inflammatory. Green leafy vegetables, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, blueberries, etc. This is in part why people who eat keto tend to feel so good and have far less issues with bloat, swelling, etc.

I love all of the above. I'm considering the "Whole 30" which is keto (I think).

From what I understand the whole 30 diet is a program that basically helps you figure out what foods cause you to experience inflammation, hormonal imbalances, digestion problems, etc. It's basically a diet that helps you feel good. I presume it is based on whole foods, many of which are keto friendly, which helps explain why it makes you feel good.

Weedygarden's list is very good. We strive to avoid wheat but use spelt occasionally. The only oils we use are olive, grapeseed oil, walnut oil and a few other nut oils. We've been following blood type diet since 1999 and that's really helped avoiding inflammation, for me, avoiding whole wheat and peanuts did away with a long time low blood sugar problem, also tomatoes can cause me to have hemagglutinin problems, which is agglutination of red blood cells, not a good thing to happen, however hemagglutination is used in labs to type blood types.

I know that this is an old thread, but I've been taking moringa for about 4 months now and my hands and knees are no longer stiff and sore. I've also been giving it to my daughters mastiff who has been a bit stiff. He's moving better and acting more puppy like.

When do you get it from?

I've stopped eating "lettuce" type salads and now use only shredded cabbage as the base( since Oct 2018). Since I've done that the pain in my knees has significantly dropped. Don't get me wrong, a big front coming through will stiffen me up fast and make me limp but most days I'm pain free.
When I started eating the cabbage it was like I was starving. I would eat big salads of it. Now I'm down to just wanting about a cup full with some other veggies added. I don't know, maybe I was deficient in something and the cabbage is bringing my levels back up.
I've also started eating citrus as a snack mid morning so that helped to up my vit C

This young lady had a hell of a time. Here she talks about how she was cured.

@NannyPatty Off the top of my head I can think of 40 or 50 plants that will calm inflammation.

Most importantly I can think of 40 or 50 different types of inflammation! All of which should be treated individually.

The most important information you could provide is the type of inflammation... Where is it located? Is it related to arthritis or most especially related to "Rheumatoid arthritis" which is a whole other discussion.

Most of us "past 60" develop various forms of "gout". @Drfacefixer nailed it if what you suffer from is a form of gout. As we get older our bodies no longer processes "uric acid" as when we were young.

The low levels of cyanide in cherry juice has a boat load of benefits to the human body.

Which type of inflammation do you have?

Oh... By the way... Plums, Apples, Peaches, Pears, Apricots, Blackberries, Blueberries and dozens of other such fruits all contain low levels of cyanide! ;) OR to be more accurate... they contain hydrocyanic compounds. When ingested our bodies convert them into cyanide.

I have RA and OA. I know I have OA, but I’m not too convinced that I have RA. I just had surgery to take some of the osteophytes in fingers out. The surgeon said the first finger joints are always OA. RA shows up in the second finger joints. RA is symmetrical, but OA is not, so not all of my joints are affected the same. So, that says to me that RA is iffy.

@NannyPatty for me only cbd and magnesium works.
And then only the strong one from xxx
I have tried others, but they don't seem to work good enough.

I also use magnesium oil that i spray under my feet.
Makes me feel better.
Hope you will feel better too.

I know it a popular diet these days but I'd be careful about these new fads. Also know it was popular a few years ago.
But if you check into the Eskimo diet they didn't live very long lives on seal, walrus and fish diets. I think what kept them alive as long as they did live was all the exercise they got surviving.
While the longest living people on earth live on mostly vegetarian diets, no red meats and some fish. Mostly soy bean product and greens.
Since Japan started on meats through MCDonalds etc, they too are livign shorter lifespans.

Do you have a link for the magnesium oil?

Epsom Salts is cheaper and isn't as refined as oils. If you can get past the taste. My aunt lived to be 100 ans she never heart of mag oil. SILs granny was 105 . Oldest vet on record who just passed was 114 and he ate what he wanted and didn't mention any vitimins or extras.

Epsom salt might be a good foot soak but I'll pass on eating it due to magnesium's propensity to cleaning you out.

:D well thats true too. It was a main medical staple back when I was a kid . That sickening stuff along with castor oil was remedy for EVERYTHING ,if you had stomach ache, sprained ankle, headache or your finger hurt you kept it all to yourself.
Ever get all happy about a trip to the soda fountain for a cherry or lime fountain drink just to find out it was a sadistic trick performed by the pharmacist and parent?
That castor oil stuff would float on top of the ruined drink. :barf:

Aspirin is the best anti inflamatory so far. I have taken aspirin all my life and it works for my pains and keeps my pipes clean.
My kids took it when babies too now it is high jacked by the tylonol pushers. Of course in todays world you never know if what it is is really what it is said to be.
I think the Indians discovered it by talking bark off willow trees, not sure memory serves me but it sounds good.

Turmeric (curcumin) 2700mg a day,one Tbsp of coconut oil with 10 drops of thieves oil, for rubbing on inflamed area.
Epsom salt feet soak, magnesium tablets.
Diet with raw fruit, berries, vegetables & tree nuts.
