Way to get around my town's ordinance laws for livestock???

If your property is literally on the border of the incorporated area, I would hope there wouldn't be too much hassle if you kept them on the side of the property that faces away from town. Is all your property within the incorporated zone, or is there perhaps a piece outside where the town...

    A Pig Question

You might check out the BBC series that Ruth, Peter, and Alex do...living for a year reenacting a homestead in various eras/locations. Somewhere in there might be ~1900. you can find all the series on Youtube...Wartime Faem. Elizabethan Farm, Victorian Farm, etc.

What are you paying for gas?

It's all relative, I guess. I feel old when some of my current coworkers were in diapers when I started working...but compared to the average age of our peers in this forum, I'm probably still a spring chicken 😋

What are you paying for gas?

$1.19 in Dayton today...cheapest I've ever paid for gas in my life

    School Me On Tractors

Rural King sells their own brand of tractor now, made by the same company that makes every other small tractor (the one in South Korea). I like my RK-24 quite a bit. It's much cheaper than the Kubotaswith a superior warranty, but the hydraulics aren't quite as good. There aren't really any...

    Current Silver Spot

Panic buying isn't limited to guns and toilet paper. A month ago, you could still get most anything you wanted. Demand has become so high that even when the spot price was down to $12/oz last week, everything you could find was still $16-$18/oz, and there wasn't all that much left, either.

"HELP".......They want to but a CELL Tower on my property

Be aware that leasing a tower can affect your property's value and thus your property tax. I have heard (i.e., this is 2nd hand information) of folks paying more in tax increases than they earned from the lease. You'll have to make up your own mind about health issues of 5G. Around a year ago...

    Current Silver Spot

For those interested, silver's at $14.55 and appears to still be dropping. It's approaching the price it was at last fall and, before that, fall of 2016. If you're interested in silver, keep an eye on it.

    5G

As with any new technology, there are a number of issues at hand. The big one seems to be about physical health. The current 3G & 4G networks use frequencies between 700 MHz and 2.5 GHz. The 5G networks will use this range as well as 24-86 GHz. The higher frequencies enable a higher data rate...

    5G

I got 45 seconds in before I lost interest. "Microwave radiation warfare", "assault frequencies", "cooked eyeballs like eggs", etc. When there's a valid arguement, there's no need for phrases that sound big and scary but that have no more technical meaning than "assault rifle". The nice thing...

    Current Silver Spot

A record for 2019, sure...but it was this same price 4.5 months ago - Christmas eve/day, in fact. "A new record low" without caveats is misleading.

    Riding Mowers

I've been following this thread closely but have stayed quiet because I wanted to hear others' thoughts without me biasing the discussion, but since the discussion seems to be focusing on garden tractors, perhaps it's time to give my 2 cents. As always, take to heart or disregard completely, as...

    Preparations Update

Very inexpensive for a reason. It's what I use when I have friends who want to learn to shoot. It's not particularly accurate, and my average rate of misfire between all my firearms is probably 5%...but new folks are trying to hit the paper, not lay shots within a quarter.

    Advice on 0.6 acre parcel

My wife and I do our own garden, eggs, etc. with plenty of leftovers, but it's a good thought nonetheless...thanks!

    Advice on 0.6 acre parcel

The "real" reason is just what I said. They bought it (cheaply) out of their family's estate so that the estate could close, and they've been just paying taxes on it for a couple years. They live around me, so would have the same drive. Unlike me, they live in a subdivision and have absolutely...

    Advice on 0.6 acre parcel

Once again, I turn to those whose experience trumps mine. I have an opportunity to buy a half acre of land in Virginia (I live in Ohio) at a very cheap price. The land belongs to long-time family friends who “bought” it out of one of their family’s estates so the estate could close out, but they...

Killer farm chickens gang-up to kill fox

We had Barred Rocks, but they didn't last long when a weasel (or similar slinky critter) rolled through.

    Are you descended from aliens?

Yes. Out of the ABO classification, your blood type is B. Since you lack the Rhesus/Rh(D) antigen, we append the negative sign. All together, it is "B-".
