Canned MEAT-Canned MEAT-Commercial Packed "Canned MEAT"

It's good in potato soup, a pot of white beans or make it into ham salad for sandwiches. I'm out right now but next time I'm going to drain a can real good and add it with some cream corn to cornbread mix.

    Preparations Update

Look what I found on Ebay! It's in Seymour, Indiana so anybody in driving distance might be able to work a deal. I saw some other Perfection stoves but they were the one canister type. https://www.ebay.com/itm/256213965138

Canned MEAT-Canned MEAT-Commercial Packed "Canned MEAT"

I've never canned ground beef but through the years I've watched videos of others doing it. I don't remember ever seeing one where they just packed the jar with raw ground meat to process but I've seen a few people like Dani mention it in the comment sections. It seems like they weren't happy...

    Preparations Update

Thought I'd pass along this good deal on a Nesco electric pressure canner,. It is a smaller one and only holds 4 quarts or 5 pints. That's perfect for me because I don't do big canning jobs anyway. This is the best price I've seen and if you got 2 it would still be cheaper than the Presto...

    Preparations Update

Love that little stove! It would be fantastic for canning in an outdoor kitchen in summer.

    Preparations Update

I went ahead and ordered the Presto electric canner from Walmart and should get it in a week. Most places that carried them were out of stock so if I wait there might not be any available. I'm looking forward to doing a lot of canning around Christmas.

    Preparations Update

Thanks for the feedback! I've done next to no canning these last few years because it's so much work and I'm only cooking for myself now. I love that I can also use this for waterbathing pints and halfpints. I don't do many quarts anyway and have the same idea that those would mostly be soups.

    Preparations Update

There are some pretty shady stories going on about credit card companies closing people's accounts with no explanation and other activities. I keep hearing that they'll be shutting the banks down for a week or so this spring. I'm not sure what's actually going on but if they do this, my gut...

    How Long until Christmas?

Probably put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving and leave them up until the end of January or even into February because of all the red. The way it's looking, they may not get made this year though. :D

    Preparations Update

I think this is the time to really get things you need/.want because we don't know exactly what's coming in the spring. It doesn't sound good, though. For the last several years I've considered an electric pressure canner and I've made the decision to get it now. I'm going to watch all the...

    How Long until Christmas?

I posted that during the summer when it was really hot. It was nice and cool today with a high of 49 but I still don't have my curtains made.

    What I'm Quilting Now

Your flamingo quilt is amazing. No surprise that you got a blue ribbon! I'll bet your nephew loves his maze quilt. That's really special.

    How Long until Christmas?

I have some beautiful fabric covered with poinsettias to make curtains from. They're going up the first day it gets below 80. :candycane:

    Preparations Update

I've never used Sam's since I have a Walmart near me but it looks like they have a shipping option. https://www.samsclub.com/b/soup-canned-goods/1466

    Off grid laundry

That's a nice set up you have there, Elkhound. I had an old wringer washer when my kids were babies and I loved it! Mosquitomountainman, I've never been able to get the hang of using a washboard. Maybe my center of gravity is just off. In dire straits I just threw everything in the bathtub...

WHAT are some good subjects for: "Prepping Talk" Section.

I don't think too much can be said about water and waste. Growing up in Texas, water has been a topic of concern my whole life. How many of us have a practical plan for dealing with waste? Yeah, I just found out last week after it was over. There's another tax holiday in a couple of weeks...

    Preparations Update

I just looked at my Walmart site to get an order ready and looked at the eggs. Then I picked myself up and looked again. The case of 5 dozen eggs is marked at $8.24. I kid you not. I don't know if it's because my store had an excess built up since people weren't buying them last month or...

Do you think "Preppers" tell the TRUTH.....???

Do I think preppers tell the truth? We all know that there are some people who have the need, for whatever reason, to try to impress strangers on a forum like this one. After reading this thread, it sounds like the question is about whether preppers are honest with themselves about their...

Why so LITTLE concern with current reality....??

I think there's a great deal of concern and people are talking about it to friends and family but maybe not so publicly anymore. I believe many many people have experienced a great awakening and their eyes have been opened to the evil that has surrounded us. I am convinced that our world is...
