    Words of Wisdom

I have received the impression that His message was misunderstood. Thinking that He may not be coming, but that we are going.

What my family used to do when they lived on the hill-farm back during the Depression, they'd can the air from hot summer days, and use it to heat the tub water. At least that's what Par told me. Can't say I believed him, but I passed the info on to a few nephews later on. Special-made cans, Par...

    Fall back!!

We Vermont hillbillies (them that's left of us) don't complain when we see corn-silk being smoked in a corncob pipe; because it's good fer yah.

    Fall back!!

I am apparently going barmy, a "nursing home" future is growing nigh. The tribe is aware, hoping to ease my landing. I'll try to leave a way open to say my goodbyes, before I become incoherent(er).

    Front Porch Chit Chat

My best-friend-in-this-world-beyond-childhood who wasn't family (name Roger) died a few decades ago, killed by a non-Hodgkins leukemia bug that had no remedy at the time. He played mostly backup bluegrass, because that's what he wanted to do. Once-in-awhile, at the end of the evening when the...

Jeez, I didn't realize how much I miss it, and my friends. Please excuse me while I weep a little.

    Front Porch Chit Chat

Ah my, this reminds me of the bluegrass festivals I used to go to, half a century ago, with my guitar and banjo picking friends. One or two of them played in bands, but most of them were there for the field picking in the evenings - often late evenings. I was there to listen, and drink beer, and...

    Front Porch Chit Chat

Welp, what's on my mind is that I have never understood the basis of it. When I was a kid (before 1950) Vermont was approximately 99+%Caucasian and very little of that outside what passed for metro areas. If that doesn't explain it, more later.

Wondering if it's possible to have a rational conversation here about racial prejudice, in more than one of it's environmental aspects. Front Porch Chit-Chat May not be the place? Is there any such rational place? Anywhere? Personally, I have no real understanding of it, so my participation...

    Weather in your area?

Reminded me. Fall and most of the winter of 1955/56 at Amarillo AFB, getting a hint that I wasn't going to enjoy being a Jet Fighter Mechanic. Well, at least I got that right. [Winter of 1957/58 at Thule AFB in Greenland was The Icing On The Cake.]

    Weather in your area?

My memory remembers - "Everything is wonderful, in its own way". What?

    Weather in your area?

Welp, it's a might warm here. I ain't going to say how warm, except to say that if you're out bear hunting, and you get the bear running, that ain't fair.

What are you paying for gas?

Hmm. It has become obvious that the bovine effluvia industry will soon become an opportunity that Exxon Mobil cannot ignore, petroleum becoming too expensive to burn - in terms of fortifications required.
