    Kitchen first aid

Having gone to culinary school, I can attest to the above. Also once the pain subsides, I start using vitamin E cream on the area. For the more severe burns but ones that don't need ER, BurnJel (WaterJel) that you can get in any pharmacy is fantastic.

What Are You Having For Dinner

Ribs, homemade fries and coleslaw. Too cold out for Dad to smoke them, so they’re in the pressure cooker right now.

    Hard copy library organization

I keep all my reference books close by where they are relative to—sewing/fabric on wall shelf over sewing table, weaving/spinning on wall shelf over weaving yarn storage cabinets, cooking/food preservation in kitchen bookshelves, gardening next to sunny window.

    What's everybody doing today?

Was planning on yard work, again. Yesterday was beautiful here in the afternoon—sunny and warmish. Today, not so warm and not so sunny. Only plan is to harvest more dandelion flowers and roots for future dye learning. Going to order a “get started with natural dyeing” kit. Will be on the lookout...

    Canning JAR price......???

I only buy pints—it’s just Dad and I. The only quarts I have (2 cases) I use for making sauerkraut. I have used quarts in the past for apple pie filling but don’t do that anymore. Half gallon are for dried goods. I’m at the point where I’m toying with the idea of using 8 oz jars because...

    Garden 2024!

I’ll be picking the flower heads later today and tomorrow before I mow the lawn. I’ll be saving them, dried, for using as natural dye for my yarn.

    What's everybody doing today?

It rained overnight, so yardwork. Will have to wait until later this afternoon, or tomorrow. Cleaning up around the apartment today. Waiting on the fleece that I washed last night to dry. Because of the dampness my bathroom smells like a wet sheep. I guess it should since it is wet sheep fleece...

    What's everybody doing today?

Every patient acted nuts and needy today—swore it was a full moon. Came home to a cranky father. He missed his nap because I evidently required him to spend the day outside doing yard work. I’m washing more sheep fleece tonight.

Why Have I Never Been Called for Jury Duty?

I’ve been called 3 times. First I was not chosen because a close relative had been mugged and it was a similar case. Next 2 times I was excused because they felt that working in a pharmacy made me a vital health care worker.

I have a confession to make.

@AMC The universe loves wondrous variety--just look in the forests, the seas and the skies for proof of that. It's a long, rough road ahead of you. At the pharmacy, I have a few patients on that road. Please be sure that you are getting all the information about your meds and speak with the...

    What's everybody doing today?

Went to BJ’s for our quarterly stock up. Started working the garden—got three more potato grow bags planted. Was Dad’s fetch monkey while he was doing some work on the new cedar planters. Went in for lunch and just about got outside be the sky opened up and poured. That’s OK, I’ve got plenty of...

    What's everybody doing today?

Last night I started scouring the black/grey fleece I bought myself for Christmas. One box down, seven to go. Took dad grocery shopping, made arrangements for Safelite to come Monday to put a new windshield in his truck. A stone hit it while we were upstate. Did my taxes. Now I'm just...

Stella might’ve gotten her groove back but….

It’s not hard to do Weedy. There are a lot of steps to setting up and weaving but none of them are hard. You can use knitting yarns or crochet cotton. That’s crochet cotton (3/2) in the first pic. I’m weaving yardage to make a tote bag. Do you have pics of the loom? What kind is it?

    Beavers - destroying my trees:(

They were destroying the birch trees around the cabin property (450 feet of waterfront). Dad and brother wrapped all the trees. They would chew one down and take one branch. They wouldn’t come back to the same tree for more—they would chew a new one down.

    Garden 2024!

Got back home to see none of the seedlings perished. They got a big drink before leaving for cabin and the grow lights are on a timer. Tomatoes and peppers look great. They are in the dining room. The cabbage and broccoli seedlings spent the vacation in the greenhouse (looks nothing like...
