The media acts surprised there are sharks in the ocean.

It would probably really freak people out if they knew how many Russian submarines are off of our coasts.

Hilton is a 12.5-foot adult shark and has traveled 18,129 miles in the past three months, according to the OCEARCH website

    That's a lot of swimming.....

Yes he must be booking to go that far in that time span. I just hope he doesn't like inlet rivers where we plan to go soon.

Meerkat, before you go swimming next time I want you to ask yourself one question. Do sharks ever get tired of seafood?

I already know the answer and Florida is the number one place in the whole world for shark attacks. It is scary knowing the shark is bigger than our boat but we have been swimming with them for over half a century. Had a good sized one pulled out of water right beside once from pier fisherman. I don't swim next to piers anymore.

Also had a couple under us when snorkling in the Keys with 2 grandkids, didn't tell them or hubby what was under us. :D

Scroll down the page to see results of attacks.

I used to fish in Buxton, NC. It is where the Labrador current from the North meets the Gulf Stream current from the South. The currents meeting brings in a lot of fish, and with it the predators. Surf fishing we regularly caught 6’ to 8’ with the occasional 10’+ coming in. We fishermen knew what was out there. Even right in the wash you would see shadows swimming in shallow water.

A few miles north or south of the point, it is fine. But right there, is where they come in close to feed. I would not even let the dog go out in the surf. We would warn folks that were just enjoying the beach but they never took notice until one of the tooth critters was pulled onto the sand. Then they would be “How far out did you get that?” “About 20 feet”.

yes it is still a nice beach so far not much riff raft like Jax beach has gotten. St Augustine is still ok too ,don't know for how long but so far ok.

Anyone see ' THE SHARK WHISPERER '? Amazing how sharks react to her.

In that location I would worry more about bull sharks than a great white.
