Well...Most of these hacks don't apply to my choice(s) of shotgun for field or self defense.

But...here's my 2 cents on the points from the article:

    1. Stash Your Stuff... Got a bag of stuff...most not needed in the field or on/in my shotguns. I do carry a light field expedient kit.

    2. Don’t Need No Cleaning Rod... See #1

    3. The Ever-Handy Choke Tube Wrench...No removable chokes on my shotguns ...no need for wrench.

    4. Speed Bolt Release...I own 1 double break open side x side and 2 pump action shotguns. I'm the speed release.

    5. Rapid Shell ID...All my chambers are 12 gauge. And the mission determines the type of load.

    6. Let There Be (Inexpensive) Light... My HD Mossberg 590a1 has an Elzetta Flashlight (650 Lumen) and Mount attachment.

    https://www.elzetta.com/

    7. Be Safe, Show Safe...SAFETY IS ALWAYS THE TOP PRIORITY !!! ...and ALWAYS know the condition you carry it in.

    8. Hinged-Barrel Love... Maybe for the Stoeger double barrel side x side...Yea.

    9. Condition 3 Carry, Plus One... Stoeger Double=(2+5 in butt stock sleeve)... Mossberg 500=(8+1)...Mossberg 590a1=(9+1)

    10. Tubular Magazine Spring Mastery...Really...if you can't "master" the entire platform, it should NOT be in your hands.

Well...there you have my personal thoughts given my shotgun platforms and my situational requirements...

Anyone one else care to opine !?

    Good discussion topic Top !!

I probably shoot my Mossberg 500 Cruiser once or twice a year. Bout the only thing I do with it is change over from a pistol grip to the full size stock every once in a while.

Although I must say that I do enjoy shooting a fully automatic shotgun when I'm at the Police range. After shooting it, I'm usually too damn tired and sore to do anything else!

That 590 looks very intimidating with the bayonet.

Two shotguns for social purposes kept ready here. A Winchester 12 in 12 Gauge with a 20" barrel and a Remington 870 12 Gauge with 21" barrel, Vang safety and 7 shot magazine. Both loaded with #4 Buck and have butt cuffs with extra ammo.
