I was in North Dakota in Feb. It was -35° F. Went to some Air Force guys house and he BBQ both days we were there.
His grill was surrounded by a huge snowbank that was rounded out where the grill had kept the snow melted back.
They also took us ice fishing. I quickly figured out that ice fishing is just an excuse to drink.

And I could confess that I have plowed behind a horse, but people would think I was old:rolleyes:.
I was actually very young and that steed had only 2 speeds... Stop and wide open:eek:.

Actually, I was 8-12 years old , my grandpa plowed one side with a Ford 600, and I would plow the other side with Jake and Jim , a awesome pair of mules.
They knew exactly what to do. 3 commands , gee, haw, whoa.

My great grandad had the latest in tractors. It was called a "Bouncing Betty" or something like that. It had a one cylinder engine that you started by putting on the compression release and spin the flywheel up a ways and closing the release. POOF! Pouf! Putt, putt and off it would go. When it was idling it would bounce on the springs but when you took it up to operating speed it was like a Swiss watch, that was missing a tooth. :)
I also liked listening to the intermittent engine that ran the irrigation pump. They had electricity on the farm but it was only for the house lights and the freezer. The refrigerator ran on an alcohol flame - no motor - but it kept things cool in the summer. In the winter great grams had a "cold box" that protruded through the wall to outside. The wood stove kept it from freezing. That stove heated water for bathing too. It had a tank between it and the wall. We took cold showers in the summer because to get hot water you had to heat the whole house.
    Good times...

I remember picking up potatoes after my grandpa turned the row over using a mule and break plow. A few years later I used an uncle's mule to skid out pine which I cut for pulp wood. I sold all the wood at the rail yard in town. I hated that mule. The term "raw boned" fit him perfectly. After a day of skidding out wood I'd have to ride him bareback the mile or so back to my uncle's barn. His spine felt like it was splitting me in two. Oh! did I leave out the part where he was down right mean? He would bite, kick or step on me every chance he got. Did I mention I hated that mule? :D

They wouldn't pass the safety, smog or any other inspection.
That is why the new cars cost so much because thr government got in the process to protect us from ourselves.
My cars are old and don't have to go through those nasty inspections. :)

I won't let the attendants in Oregon fill my tank. I can get away with that, in spit of Oregon law because I have classic plates. They don't like me saying "NO" but they can't do anything about it.
My cars were made for leaded gas and the E10 foams so much that to get a full tank I have to put it in real slow. If I put it on the first catch it will shut off at about 2/3 of a tank. I want a full tank when I fill up so, I do it myself.

Always used a spoon, needed one to scoop and stir so it was already in my hand.
I never did like the strawberry flavor. Chocolate was the best.

I have a couple of those can openers on my fridge. They have magnets on the back. Used one tonight to open up a can of veggie broth.
Remember the white plastic lid on the syrup to put on after you opened it?
