right here right now maybe later over there
I have a problem that my primary seems to think is not a problem
Center of my abdomen is a wound from an emergency surgery episode.
The wound is 6” long by 2” wide
It took a year to heal, in the center is a spot that healed last it is the size of a 50 cent coin. The skin is very thin and this area opens up. Heals up, opens up etc

I want a skin graft because I am tired of putting up with it, dr is against the idea

Opinion?

There's a lot of missing information here but I would suggest speaking with a surgeon and not a primary doc.
Are you being followed by any type of wound care?

Excellent suggestion, DrJenner! A surgeon would give better information regarding possibility of skin graft, and wound care could help significantly to simply heal the area. Frodo, it possibly opens and heals so often because the tissue there is so thin and fragile. It sounds like it doesn't get the chance to "bulk up" before it opens again. A skin graft would possibly give you the same problem because the graft tissue is also extremely thin and fragile. Until you can either speak with a surgeon or wound care specialist, are you having issues with your clothing rubbing on it? Is it itchy, causing you to rub or scratch it? Do you keep it covered with a dressing when it is open? Wound care could help you with the proper type of dressing if appropriate (something that won't stick to fragile, friable skin).

Yes it's usually a plastic surgeon who would address this issue.
Also if you are diabetic, that significantly slows down the healing process as your vasculature Is different from "normal". Make sure your blood sugars are under control if that's the case.

Wound care, yes I have been twice
Spent 9 months with a wound vac

Then a year later it opened again, back to wound care and it took 4 mths to heal

Then about a year later the same thing
Same spot, wound care says the skin is very thin at that spot

It is smack dab center. 7” above the belly button to the wound
