I collect and restore old tools. Especially axes. Someone gave me this old axe that had been severely abused. I learned alot on this one. Including how to temper an axe in a kitchen oven

Baking=temper or drawing.
This lower the hardness, but it also stabilizes the metal.

Right on. I dont know much about it. Luckily i habe a friend who is a knife maker. He told me what was going on and walked me threw it.
