Berkey water filter system - which one?

I have the Berkey light unit and thought I share a tid bit about it. I've had my Berkey for a while now and use it every day. I still have the original filters on it, although I've had to clean the black filters more often now....as expected. Anyways, I had an issue with my Berkey light. There was a constant leak around the spigot area. I changed out the spigot and the problem was worse than before. Then I looked closer and found a small crack on the container just above the spigot. I contacted Berkey and was able to get a new lower chamber b/c I bought one within the last year. It was a total pain to get them to do anything about it. I told them that I wasn't sure that the one I bought last year was the same container that I had the crack in, so I asked if there was any identifiers in the container. I don't think they paid any attention to that. So, ultimately I did get a replacement, even though I had to pay to ship the original container back.

I didn't realize when I bought it that their warranty was only for 1 year. It's also a good thing to know that the plastic Berkey (even though it works for my needs) can crack, so be careful with the spigot. The lesson in all this is.....if you're looking for a Berkey to last a long time, it is probably better to go with the steel containers.

That is one reason I went with the steel container for mine. It's been bullet proof so far

I think I'm ready to order a Berkey since, from what I can tell, it seems to be the gold standard in water filtration. I'm just not sure which one to get since there are sooooo many of them to choose from. I like our tap water and drink it daily. However, it wouldn't hurt to run it through a filter.

For those of you who have Berkey's what do you have and would you choose differently? If so, why? Also, where is the best place to buy at the best price? There were Memorial Day sales on many of the retailers sites, but I don't even know what a good deal is on these systems since I just started looking at them.
We have the largest one that they have. One reason being we have a large family. One thing to consider...or not...😂 is the cheaper filters. The cheaper filters aren't as good, and not as good quality. We also bought the fluoride filters, alongside the chlorine ones. Spending the extra money is worth it. We bought straight from Berkey.

You think you like your water now...wait until it goes through the Berkey. I keep telling my husband I want another one. So much purer tasting.😀. Enjoy!

Thank you. Are there any other forums that you are apart of that would be recommended?
No I only need this one, we cover just about everything. I do watch a couple YouTube and Bitchute channels, clif high, Appalachia homestead and Patriot nurse.
We have an introduction thread where you can tell us a little about yourself if you like. Just whatever you are comfortable with.

Yup, shortages have been ongoing for a while now. And, the prices are way up from when I first posted this thread. I found some spigots either on Amazon or Ebay that worked fine though. I have already stocked up on the filters b/c I saw the price increases and shortages coming. I'm good on water for a while. I also now have a couple backup units since I use the Berkey daily.
