I have been reading about silage/black tarps for weed suppression in garden beds & wondered if anyone here had used them.

We have used black plastic with decent success. Mostly trying to keep the grass from taking over, but it helps with the 50 inches of rain also. We have not preped rows before covering. We prefer to work with freshly filled soil. The thistles however are still present somewhat abscent of green pigment. Tough little suckers.😠

We used them for one year to cut down on cultivating. It worked.
They leave out the most important part though.
The next year when you go out to plow and fertilize, you find thousands of things growing thru the plastic bolting it solidly to the ground. There is no way to get it up.
Plowing it under just turns the garden into a garbage-dump.
We got high-tech at cultivating instead.
